Gonna have a proper think it's either this or a Status....
Your right !Your going to have to have a proper think, 'cos your looking at both ends of the bass spectrum ! Good luck and enjoy !

Chris Wolstenholme from Muse is another Ric player usually with fingers. I've had no 'clank' or 'brittleness' from my Ric sound ever, it all depends on the EQ settings as it does with any bass. I think the 'Clank' is a bit old hat now, probably relating more back to the seventies. I've found mine punchy, full with plenty of bottom and just sounds superb. Infact I was so unimpressed by my USA P-Bass compared to the Ric I sold it to buy a Guild B-301 Rickys are a bit of a 'Marmite Bass' you must try a couple before you make up your mind Don't let anyone try and sway you either way, it personal taste and half of the people who make comments (not necessarily on Baschat) about Ric's probably havent even owned one !

I'm also impressed with their pledge . . . . If something goes wrong with your purchase you can bring it back to the store or we can collect from your address. Unlike many other discount retailers, we are happy to collect faulty goods from your address at any time during the warranty period - all at no charge to you. Many other retailers only offer this service for the first 30 days of the warranty - after that it's up to you to return the faulty item to them at your cost. You could end up spending a lot of time & money getting a faulty product back to the place you bought it from - but not if you buy from Andertons. You get the same no quibble 7 day refund policy or 30 day exchange policy whether you buy on line or in store. You get the same high quality pre sale advice & post sale support whether you buy on line or in store. We don't pay our staff individual commissions - this ensures that they only ever recommend what's best for you - not what's best for them! Human being product specialists available to speak to 7 days a week!! Shame you didnt keep the packaging, thats what you loft is for (well it is in our house !)
It doesn't work like that....
Sorry but it does . . from the Andertons website T&C's Faulty Goods Faulty goods, where the fault is due to manufacturing defect, will be exchanged or refunded where possible within the first 30 days of purchase Obviously the bass is now possibly older than a month. What date did you receive the bass ?

I had a similar problem . . . . . I yearned for a Stingray when I was young but I could never afford one so I ended up getting a Guild B-301 instead, but thats a different story . . . . Anyway Years later When I was all grown up and could afford such luxury as a Musicman Stingray I bought a used one for £600 I could have cried I was so chuffed . . . . But It was a complete dog to play AND get a decent sound out of it ! it had no guts like you said and it just didnt suit the band I was with at the time. I sounded like Flea playing Rock 'n' Roll ! The main thing is that you have to stop boosting the bass and the treble, instead boost those mids and the punch will come through, probably not as much as a P-Bass but its in there, but I decided to sell mine anyway, must have got a duffer ! I'm back with a Guild B-301 and a Rickenbacker 4003 now ! Happy days
UPDATE: They are going to collect it and send it to Fender so they can assess it. All i need to do now is find a frickin box for it to go in!
Go to your local shop and see if they have one as they often throw them away . . . . but DO NOT tell them why . . . for obvious reasons
-
You should normally be offered a replacement within 28 days of delivery date Check their T&C's on the website to see if they offer different terms. Make sure get them to send you a good packing box and that you keep all documentation when the Bass is collected by the courier. What net-shop did you buy it from?
Sorry, i meant to say the store. Having a mare today DURRRR! well, we shall see how it goes. I'm quite prepared to go to Fender UK and grumble like hell - especially seeing as my bass is effectively useless now.
I'm sure there won't be any need to grumble, try phoning the shop rather than relying on emails, you'll get a much quicker answer. It will be sorted under warranty I'm sure, but it does highlight the pit falls of buying at a distance rather than going to your local ! I'm a guilty as anyone trying to save a quick buck or two !

I thought a lot of Duff's sound came from a MXR M-80 pedal

I'd keep your product range as small and simple as possible. Realistically what is the waiting time for a cab at the moment? Ade -
In 36 hours time, I will be giving the Big One a kW of canage. With earplugs in. I really can't wait.
. . . . I think we all look forward to you review Right who lives in the Northampton - Leicester - Peterborough triangle who would like to try one of these cabs? I live in Corby Nr Northampton Anyone ? . . . . Anyone ? Dust ? Anyone ? -
Great basses, I've owned two B-301's stpidly let my first one go a few years back and have recently bought another one from here on the forum that was fretted then had the frets ground down to the tangs to make it lined fretless ! I am currently having it re-fretted and brought back to it former glory ! They soung great, think cross between a P-bass and a Rick very middy with well pronounced bottom end plenty of top end too. They also growl like a baaad dog. A well set up B-301/2 will play like butter. I love the shape too, bit like a melted Ric I suppose, Cool as Furk Expect to pay between £300 - 500 tops

I dont see the problem here. How long ago did you buy it? Was it brand new or second hand? Just pack it up, take it back and tell them whats not working. Any decent shop will just take it off you, check it and sort it. There should be no problems, issues or arguments at all. Be nice and polite should be end of story
Seeing as that's where I grew up I can't neglect you people! Hopefully if we have a UK Bass Bash it'll be in Northants again, in which case I'll be there. If you send it back in one piece then you can enjoy a Barefaced cab for a week or so for the cost of return postage (about £20). Cheaper than renting one?Alex
Is there anyone in Northampton / Kettering / Corby area who also wants to try one of Alex's cab's? We can then hopefully get our hands on one for a couple of weeks between us, as I need to give it a couple of gigs or at very least a practice to make up my mind. Might as well take advantage of trying one is you can ! Alex - It will be sent back in the same condition as received, don't worry ! Now just to decide which one, what is available to test? I currently us a MarkBass 410HF (front ported 4x10) and need punch, projection and play in a 4 piece covers band playing Stones to Stereophonice, Van Morrison to Oasis etc What would you suggest? Cheers Ade -
I actually bought a Landmark 300 off Cetera when he got his Landmark 600 1/ They sound amazing 2/ Very versatile, although I also struggled to get a totally clean sound possible only available on one channel with the 'blend' off, not sure now. 3/ Slightly underpowered 4/ Did I say they sound amazing !? If you can get one for the right price I'd give it a go, although you would need to run it at 4 ohms to get the full 300 watts Ade

Still would have gone for the Hipshot bridge, seems a shame to put the prehistoric ric bridge on such a fine instrument !
