  1. That’s the truth of it 👍
  2. If you want it be quick however, as I appear to be changing my mind a lot at the moment and it wouldn't take a lot of convincing for me to keep it
  3. Rather torn about this and certainly not overly keen to sell, but I bought it recently to do a better job than a Status Jazz in an RHCP project but I think I prefer the Jazz. I'm selling for slightly less than I paid, c'est la vie. Trade-wise I'd like a decently large amp, Boogie, Ampeg, WHYG? This has a forearm contour that I assume is a modification (as opposed to factory), but as you can see, has been very well done. I can get to London or most of SE (or beyond) for a handover, and given this thing is 100% bombproof I'm happy to post in a hard case 👍 More details here

  5. That is a bargain 👍
  6. Well on the face of it, it's a pre-CBS at the price of an early 70's, so I'm thinking if it was legit it would have been snapped up already, there's about £5k resale profit in there for someone
  7. Yep, the Basschat Rule: if it looks to good to be true.....
  8. Mmm, no feedback, odd price, indicates London but offers shipping only to lower 48 states.......
  9. Happy to consider trades for this or I'll put it on eBay/Reverb 👍
  10. So, no-one's put their hand up for this, and having played it again this weekend I'd be pretty mad to sell it. I bought it for a Chilis project for which I subsequently also the SUB because I think it suits the project better (I really wanted a Modulus Flea). But to be honest the Jazz is just so bloody good I would be kicking myself about in the pretty near future, although I suspect I'd feel the same if I sold the SUB also. Problems, problems, problems
  11. Keep them mate. Even my ‘little’ Diesel 2x10 blows the socks off pretty much every cab I’ve owned with the exception of my two bigger Diesel cabs 👍
  12. I remember them as Fat Fingers as well 👍
  13. So, this is where I've got to........ Very light sandpaper revealed that under the white paint a previous owner appears to have sanded the original finish before applying the paint (where the finish is worn through to the wood is very very smooth, and while there's enough original finish to work with - on which the lovely checking is still visible - even that has signs of previous quite heavy sanding. Also looks like there's been a repair under the rout, I'd guess a battery compartment was installed and then filled. Think I'm going to do some very mild relicing to the wood so that it matches the feel and colour of the other areas of bare wood which are significantly darker.

    Pairs

All (both.....) eras of RHCP covered.....
  15. They make. anice pair after all 👍
  16. Still available although I made the mistake of playing it last week and wondering whether I should keep it AND the SUB........ 🤔
  17. You'll never guess who make them.......
  18. It wasn't a Torres by the way
  19. I know many will disagree, but I don't really buy the idea of the unplayable 70's Fender (unless of course the neck has bowed which happens to manufacturers other than Fender e.g., EBMM and Ric). I've played some in shops and at a seller's house that have played like dogs - bad setup, dodgy electrics, neck not on straight or badly shimmed - but while I often declined to buy them at the time, I'm not convinced any couldn't be recovered! I bought a maple neck '75 Precision unseen on eBay and when it arrived it was a disaster, neck like a suspension bridge, strings nowhere near poles, more dead spots than Margate in winter, but I got it playable with some work. OK, it was VERY heavy, but I've nevere been that worried about weight.
  20. Must dig out my old copy
  21. I seem to be storing drums here so that would solve a problem I do have 👍
  22. But they're clearly doing something right? Nearly all the people under the age of 30 I know who are making music don't play guitar or bass, it's all in the box, yet Fender still shift a shit load of instruments each year, way more I'd guess than the companies that copy them? Do Fender innovate? Hell no. Do they always build good instruments? Hell no? Are they, as they have been for 70-years, the dominant brand in a market that is 70-years old? Hell yes
  23. Was Torres a neck man only then?
  24. As I said, you're probably right, I was just wondering if there was the possibility of a more systematic process in play at Fender at the time, hence my question re necks versus bodies 👍
  25. I realised this recently! I love the idea of PJ basses, and when I twiddle at home I just love to user the back PUP and experiment with blenidng. When I gig, front PUP all the way, don't blend the J in even occasionally. Leo got it right first time 👍 Might be listing a PJ for sale this weekend
