    This is probably a bit anal, but I should add that I bought a new Allparts Precision neck in 2023 from the UK supplier. It came without a nut, and Allparts had no nuts to fit in stock. I tried sourcing the correct length, width,, depth, and base curvature of nut from other suppliers with no luck, or at least I bought a few and none fitted properly, so it was going to need to go to a luthier to have a custom nut cut, which was a bit crap, but potentially also meant that had there been any issues once the nut was fitted and the neck installed, Allparts could technically have refused to accept it as a return due to the length of time involved and the fact that their T&Cs require it to be returned unmodified. As I say, a bit anal of me to mention it, but it didn't feel like Allparts were really a quality retailer. I get the idea of selling necks without tuners, but selling necks without nuts - and without the option of adding one at point of purchase - seemed quite poor. Their Allparts customer service people were very professional about the return which was all done very quickly, but it did seem bit poor overall.

    With Warmoth and Musickraft I’d say everything is perfect off the shelf, but you pay for what you get. Allparts can be a little rough requiring further work to make perfect - in their defence they do say this at point of sale - while this is even more tje case with Mighty Mite. I have owned some terrible necks, some by Fender USA and Mexico (although not Japan who seem more on top of QC). However I’ve never owned or even played a poor quality Warmoth neck, so they are my go to on all my Fender-style basses (I have three). The only better Fender-style necks in terms of quality and stability are Status and Modulus, but good luck finding either at the moment 🤔

    Probably a nice opportunity for someone to take what is already a playable and gig-able instrument and turn it into something potentially quite magical. Components, mostly bought from BC, are Early 70's Fender Jazz body, originally Oly White, now that rather unique yellow that comes with age, with almost intact original pickguard Early 70's Fender Jazz neck, I originally fretted modified to bound ebony fretless board 70's DiMarzio PAFs PUPs Old and slightly tatty Badass II bridge that doesn't look too out of place on a vintage bass. I have a vintage period correct bridge if preferred I'd assume generic Jazz circuit/control plate as it was in my parts drawer and as the result I have no idea where it came from! Issues that will (may) need resolving The neck heel/pocket fit is not good even by 70's Fender standards, and while it is stable and retains both position and tuning, it would bug me and I was going to do some fine woodworking to fill the bass side gap of around 2mm. The board plays well, allows low action, has relatively little wear, and appears free of any issues. I'm confident however that a skim by a decent luthier would not be a bad idea. The back of the body is heavily worn and had been painted with what appears to be an inch or so of industrial grade emulsion. I've got most of it off but it may require some further work to get it to your liking Original tuners are f*****d, the screw holes have been modified, and are very hard to use, I'll include the nice set of Gotoh lollipops that are in the photo below. All in all I''m selling this project for less than the parts costs me. I was going to part it but I think there's something quite magical about the combination, so heart wins over head! Re collection/delivery, you're free to collect from me in Whitstable, we could meet up in central London, or we could arrange one of those idonic service station meet-ups! Either way, I'd much prefer to hand this over in person if possible, but can pack and send by courier at the buyer's expense if forced to and on the basis that it is fully insured. And unless you have a big Mesa Boogie head (Big Block, Titan, 400, or Strategy), I'd prefer cash to trades please 🙏 Looks like I might need to trim my attachments before uploading a full set of pics, here's a teaser........

    In descending order of quality Warmoth, Musickraft, Allparts, Mighty Mite. All are IME better quality than Fender MIM replacements, of which I’ve owned two, one went back due to appalling fret work, the other I should also have sent back as it was not worth the cash by comparison even with Mighty Mite

    Having watched a lot of 70’s Who stuff, and given that while a massive Who fan I grew up with Hendrix, Page, Blackmore, Clapton et al as the obvious choices, Townsend has to be the best rock guitarist full stop 👍

    Nice Jazz project for someone, will be up for £1000 tomorrow. Will be a stunner when done, but while if plays and sounds fine, defo needs some work to be all it can be 👍

    Completely agree, and why I tend to listen to them live more than studio. Yes, WAY has a much more balanced mix 👍

    Not a fan of chorus at all, ever, but love how that sound her gets sits in the overall mix. I have a potentially rather special Precision that I’m going to be working with also - feels more natural to me - but man the Buzzard makes getting the tone and nailing the lines so much easier and for whatever reason so much more pleasurable 👍

    Yep, ideally - and depending on what type of bridge is installed - you’d modify or flip the bridge, or potentially install a right hand version. If you have photos of the bridge we can be more helpful I’d imagine. And you will need to install a new nut, I doubt you can simply reverse the existing one, although you may be lucky 👍

    I wish I could justify buying this, it’s a really special instrument, it just wouldn’t have a role in anything I’m currently playing or will be in the foreseeable future. Nothing sounds quite like this bass through an SVT 👍

    I’m confident that in a band of four members I am the least competent bass player (possible exception of drummer although he can hold down a bass line). So easily 😆

    Singing lessons are a great idea Mick, not just to improve singing technique (pitch/tone/range/control) but also to protect your voice for things other than singing. I had short-notice surgery on my neck years ago - long story - and during the surgery my vocal chords were damaged requiring further surgery. I was told in no uncertain terms by the surgeon that I would need 6-weeks of not using my voice at all followed by regular speech therapy. The therapist was also a voice and vocal coach, and the stuff she taught me was well worth learning. I still do the exercise occasionally especially if I'm doing BVs for a gig. Enjoy the journey mate
