  1. Agreed, perhaps more a provocation than legitimate ranking?
  2. Yep, totally agree re On The Beach. I think the rankings are for no other reason than to start threads like this
  3. Should clarify that those are their ages, not their names
  4. My girls, seven and nine, voted for them without any prompting from me, which I take as a good sign. They’re still a bit confused as to what a Rickenbacker is however
  5. Continuation of my retrospective journey through 70s music, I found some of these rankings surprising https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/nov/05/neil-young-every-album-ranked
  6. Ric 4000 & rock stride. Two out of three ain't bad mate
  7. Agreed, they were authentic weren't they, don't know how much pitch correction was being used but there seemed to be sufficient error to allow us to think none, in which case they were amazing, in fact all of them were. The band that went out in the sudden death thing last might hot a 5-part harmony at one point! I think most of the acts made X-Factor/Voice/BGT acts look synthetic
  8. There's talent, and then there's TALENT
  9. Have to say mate that anyone who promotes bands and looking for new talent who isn't on the phone right now is missing out, some great talent on there
  10. I knew I shouldn't have taken a speculative look at the interweb, damn you Rich Tone Music
  11. There was some great singing wasn't there Mick, the winners certainly weren't the best band, but I suspect that as all good music does, they struck a chord......?
  12. They were good trousers, reminded me a little of The Ruttles, but that's a long time ago
  13. Crikey, the rock(ish) band won, all things considered, what a day for democracy
  14. And of course, in the pre-COVID days when I had some cash, I would have posted a 'Wanted Ric 4000' thread
  15. There is something so perfect about the design
  16. That's the one, all a bit postmodern wasn't it
  17. It was McFly, and god they were not great were they
  18. That latter bass didn't look nice did it. Did you notice the two Ashdown 8-x10s with no head?
  19. And yes I have had a couple of beers
  20. Watching Little Mix the Search with the family and, crikey, there's a bloke playing a Ric 4000, made my day Band's called Since September, it was nice to see something vaguely rock and guitar-based on one of these shows. And as far as I'm concerned, anyone with the good sense and good taste to play a 4000 should win any talent show they care to enter for that factor alone
  21. Firstly name and shame the company in question on here. Secondly get medieval on their social media. Third write an email to their MD and post that on social media also.
  22. They were also the precursor to the Highway One series.
  23. Memory just kicked in! It's an American Traditional Jazz Bass, plenty online about them (and on BC), but a nice bass assuming it's structurally fine.
  24. I forget the name of the series (American Classic perhaps?), but they are very nice basses and a major step up from standard MIM at that time. IIRC they were US parts assembled in Mexico. I paid £400 for one about 15 years ago, so anything less than £600 and I'd consider it a decent deal.
