  1. Cheers. Yes that would be a helpful/logical thing to do - I think EBay does something similar with big sellers. I’d hope European businesses that sell a lot of stuff to the UK would see the benefit with introducing such a system as it’s a permanent hurdle that will have to be dealt with from now on.
  2. Actually, I’ve just checked the Warwick website and they now appear to be shipping to the UK again. Must have updated in the last 24 hours, hooray. UK prices also appear to be sans VAT too, so they’re ready for 1st Jan.
  3. Thanks, I’ve had a hunt around and the only other seller I can find that stocks all the Warwick parts I need are...in Germany 😂 But they don’t appear to be refusing to ship to the UK so might give them a go. Failing that I’ll ask Andertons as you suggest or perhaps just wait a couple of weeks - surely Warwick can’t be refusing to ship to the UK long term. Yeah that’s my understanding too, I would imagine (hope?) the only change will be paying VAT on arrival to the UK and handling charge, which may add an extra day or two, but otherwise work out at more or less the same cost.
  4. I’m in much the same boat. I have a parcel from Japan that made it to the UK absolutely fine according to the tracking, but it’s now been stuck at Stansted for the best part of a week! I also want to buy some spares direct from Warwick but they’re not shipping to the UK at all either. Does anyone have any insight as to the rationale behind the German ban and when it might be lifted, given the border with France has reopened and other countries appear happy to ship here?
  5. Sorry to hear you’ve had this hassle @ltgobis Sadly, it looks as if the hum in the vid posted earlier wasn’t an isolated problem/a grounding issue then. This could be a ‘teething issue’ with the first batch and be fixed soon but even so it raises concerns regarding QC.
  6. Sooo @Meatbag wotcha gonna do? Would be cool to know as you’ve been given some great advice here.
  7. Warwicks are awesome. Some great advice so far though I have a couple of other perspectives that may be of use! While given the choice, yes you should go with a Wenge neck, don’t write off Ovangkol entirely. I have a Thumb - BO in Ovangkol, with a ‘baseball bat’ neck (the unholy trinity of Warwicks some people might say). But it’s awesome - plenty of growl and so comfortable to play. The MEC electronics get a lot of stick but I think they’re actually pretty good. When you think of the typical modern Warwick tone they have a lot to do with it. So while models with SDs, EMGs, Barts etc. may arguably be better, don’t avoid a decent Warwick with MECs without having played it. Trying to navigate the different model revisions for Warwick is a nightmare as they made changes here there and everywhere over the years. But I would certainly recommend going German-made used - plenty of bargains out there so you’ll defo find something nice for your budget.
  8. Yeah, I think this is just a perfect storm of usual Christmas chaos and the obvious COVID issues sadly. I’ve also had a terrible experience with DPD in the last few weeks, with one item going missing and another being badly damaged. Neither of which are acceptable of course, but I suspect a direct result of couriers being overwhelmed at the moment.
  9. This is my ideal Sadowsky spec/finish - I’d be in for it if I wasn’t strictly a 4 string guy! Someone is going to get themselves a great instrument, GLWTS.
  10. Cracking condition judging from the pics too, what a beaut.
  11. It’s just a joke. Us bass players shouldn’t see ourselves as immune from from a bit of light-hearted joshing. If anything it shows they think we have a good sense of humour and won’t mind 😁
  12. Great work @Silky999, I recently modded my Thumb BO 4, but not to quite the same extent! (refinished with a coloured stain and replaced the 2 band MEC preamp with a 3 band Bartolini). Funnily enough I struggled a bit to find suitable knobs, and ended up with the same John East ones you’ve got there! I’ll post a pic sometime.
  13. Nice! I’d be all over this if I had the cash to spare. GLWTS.
  14. Up for sale is my custom Fender Jazz Bass. Only reason I am selling is that I’m just not playing it enough and it deserves to go to a home where it will be appreciated. This has a roasted maple Fender Precision neck (MIM) and 20mm string spacing at the bridge - so would be ideal for those of you who like the typical jazz bass tone but don’t get along with a narrow neck. It is also a slapper’s dream! Body is 100% Fender (MIM). It is equipped with Hipshot hardware and Seymour Duncan quarter-pounder pickups. Everything was installed by a professional luthier so the overall finish is very good. There are signs of light use/light surface scratches but these are only noticeable on closer inspection. Overall condition IMO is very good indeed (this is backed up by the fact all the parts are from 2020). Happy to provide further pics if needs be. I’m looking for £475 and will deliver to the UK for free. Also happy with collection in person (I’m in Surrey). Full specs below, thanks for looking! Body: Fender MIM, sunburst, alder Neck: Fender Precision MIM, roasted maple Nut width: 41mm Tuners: Hipshot licensed ultralites, chrome Bridge: Hipshot, brass, 20mm spacing Pickups: Seymour Duncan quarter-pounders
  15. I ordered an amp and neck from them a few months ago - both arrived as they should, so I’d be happy to use them again. They were cheaper than most other shops but despite having a UK website they are actually based in Eastern Europe, which meant my order took a bit longer to arrive, and in separate packages a couple of days apart. Overall I was happy with the service.
  16. This is a great amp, I have the 350 smaller brother and would definitely recommend it. GLWTS.
  17. That would be the most logical thing to do, but it would likely push the production costs up too close to the Japanese/German Metros. There are some other things Roger could do to improve standards (like you mentioned), though that may take a while to ‘bed in’ at the factories. Which makes you wonder about the standard of those already on sale - Thomann, GuitarGuitar et al already have a load in stock.
  18. Yeah it would definitely put me off. Assuming it’s a QC issue, surely it’s such an obvious fault it should have been picked up when tested in the factory as you say. Which begs the question as to how many more might slip the net owing to questionable QC. This is a really good point, it would make sense to just put the ‘proper’ logo on the headstock when they ship out of China. Though perhaps it would increase production costs too much for them.
  19. The overall tone is actually pretty nice. Biggest concern is those noisy electronics - hopefully that was an isolated QC issue but who knows!
  20. Yeah nice job on the pickups. Not sure why but I’d never even considered that option for any of my basses, great idea.
  21. Couldn’t agree more. It’s ludicrous that there are bands who think commitment and ability are somehow proven by how expensive or ‘pro’ your gear is. The only possible justification I can think of for such an ad is having a cab/amp powerful enough for venues of a certain size. But if you sound good, play well, and get on with the people you’re playing with, that should be enough.
  22. Those are awesome! Look pretty tough as well (i.e. would cope no problem with being knocked about in the back of a van on tour). We really are spoilt for choice when it comes to lightweight cabs these days.
  23. Thanks, I’ve been doing a bit of reading up and the specs seem fairly similar between the two so I would hope that I’d be happy with either. Certainly lots of good feedback on the BFs, I suppose it comes down to whether I’m wedded to the 8” or if the SM still retains that punch (as you say), which would potentially make it the better all rounder.
