I failed. I had perfectly decent gear at the start of the year. Everything I needed but I still bought two Fender P basses and a Darkglass vintage overdrive. I did sell a Sterling Ray34 and Epiphone Thunderbird vintage pro. I regret selling the Thunderbird, it sounded amazing. Its with the current Hawkwind bassist now so I'm sure I'll see it played properly at some point.

I did bring up muting later in the discussion. Both questions have been answered. I've got some good tips and have been trying some of the techniques suggested to see what works for me.

Music and politics have been linked for a very long time. Some of the greatest artists have been very political.

How many times have you tried? Just because it didn't work once doesn't mean it'll never work.

I'm not sure quite how to describe our style. I guess sludge but a bit faster. Most of our riffs are "inspired by" (ripped off from) Sabbath but with rearranged rhythm or kind of chopped up a bit. Most of the time the bass and guitar are playing something very similar.

I've been experimenting with techniques suggested here on a familiar song to try to work out what feels right and it seems to be thumb resting on either pickup or E string and just reaching across strings from there. Interestingly, elbow position seems to be important for me. Letting it drop back and bending the wrist doesn't seem to work for me, keeping the wrist straight seems to help my hand move across the strings better. A long strap seems to help.

Go point. Even NIB which is standard tuning, there's not a lot happening on the E string. That's a heavy tune as well
