Are they any good? I've no experience with that particular socket BUT plenty of experience years ago with cheap flimsy Maplins parts and I'd not have fitted one back then to any of my Warwicks... however if they are top quality then fair does!
Just noted that it is designated as Neutrik! Odd as it doesn't look like the Neutriks that I've had in the past. Oh well you live and learn.
Ebony indeed! The tone is so, so good. Can't wait to get it recorded!
Glad you're enjoying it Chris, it was such a waste for that bass to not get out and be gigged but the weight was just too much for me... no probs for a young un like you!
Suggested that to my lot....received deathly silence to that suggestion. Ah well, probably not really us anyway . Love a bit of Cheap Trick me
I've had the same reaction with EVERY covers band that I have ever been in (and that's a shedload in the last 30+ years)... hence I've started my own Cheap Trick tribute band; now there can be NO discussion as to which band's songs we should cover next!
There is a odd loophole here though, because the ebay forum tells you to stick your own ebay auction link in here, which then wants a price- should that be the price that the ebay auction is at now? or later? or that the guy wants for the bass, or that price minus ebay fees....
I'd say it is the price that the guy wants to sell it for! Generally folks who have stuff on ebay for a BIN 'should' consider that if they sold it here it would save them 10-15% of their final sale price and adjust the sale price on here accordingly... but that is entirely up to the individual.

Be aware that the cost of diesel against petrol these days means that there isn't a significant saving in fuel costs unless you do a lot of miles; it used to be that diesel made sense as it was cheaper than petrol and you generally got more mpg but not strictly true now! Also be aware that some insurance companies are a pita with regard to a 'private' vehicle for day to day use, I had grief as many insurers wouldn't accept that it was my daily transport for me as it was easier to carry my dogs; they were adamant that I needed business use and they wanted to know what business I was using it for! So I'd suggest checking with a few insurers before you dive in... oh and if it is your main mode of transport don't be tempted to just let mates pile in the back to get to and from places the law will hammer you.

Top bloke. Though we've communicated loads via PMs on various things, this is the first meet to do a trade and Chris is a pleasure to deal with; enjoy the Warwick.
My favourite band of all time. If someone was starting a tribute, this 12stringbassist would be there like a shot.
I am! Unfortunately for you that's me doing the bass bit.

Well counting down till I see them at Glasgow and the up coming gig has me starting a Cheap Trick tribute band... small fan base but for a short life-span project I'm excited. Now where's those 12 string basses when you want one!
-
Very cheap strings - if that's what you like ;-(
warwickhunt replied to KiOgon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The deals that used to appear on ebay for Hartke strings (sets of 3) were pretty cheap and the strings weren't half bad! -
Where can you buy Bartolini pickups in the UK?
slightly off topic.... in a warwick whats the difference between (roughly) between the MEC's and the brats. Barts seem to be so so popular as an upgrade.
From the off, I have to say that this is unscientific, subjective and anecdotal and just my humble opinion! I used to have a fretless SSI that had MECs which I swapped out for EMGs... and couldn't tell a jot of difference (preamp remained original Warwick MEC)! I then (within a week) took out the EMGs and fitted Barts and I'd say that the Barts sounded 'darker' with a more pronounced low mid tone which certainly suited the Warwick BUT you'd have to take into account that I'd not changed strings (used the same set which had been on and off the bass at least 3 times and may well have mellowed in tone from when they were new with the MECs), however still taking into account that the strings could be a factor AND I'd not heard the MECs for a couple of weeks, I'd still say the Barts had more character (maybe something that some folks wouldn't want?). If I don't flog these Barts they may well end up in my red SSI but I've not been fussed to go to the trouble yet, especially as I'll likely be selling the SSI at some point in the near future (I have another Streamer that I play more frequently). -

Where can you buy Bartolini pickups in the UK?
warwickhunt replied to Spoombung's topic in General Discussion
Still, I would like a P/J set, and they don't seem to be anywhere (apart from on Bartolini's site).
I have a PJ set (new and boxed) that were meant to go into a bass... but didn't! I'd sell those to fund a pair of Soapbars for my Bolin. -
I have a Seymour Duncan SMB-4A unused in box, with mount screws. £90 RRP. £60 posted. Also a EBMM sterling pickups. Its from 1994 and is a little aged on the magnets, but is sonically sound. Ceramic 3 coil pickup. I think you can wire it however you would like (parallel, serires, single coil)and can be retro fitted to stingrays. No idea for price so... £80 posted. Both ono, no trades need the dosh. Bank transfer prefered. Thanks.
I could be wrong (often am ) but isn't the depth of the Sterling and Stingray pups different! I've no idea whether the Ray is deepest in which case it could be the case that it's the Sterling that can't take a Ray pup but there is a nagging doubt in my mind that they are different depths... just a nagging doubt, not fact!
Why wouldn't you get back what you paid for it 3 months earlier? In my experience decent basses don't really lose much after the initial depreciation from new unless it's been badly treated. In fact the older they get the more they seem to be worth. IMO of course
I could be wrong but people may be referring to the fact that some folks buy 'New' basses and expect to get back exactly what they paid for them (either immediately or within the next few years); I concur that after the initial depreciation, most basses don't depreciate that much and some can appreciate!

New band...I think I won't be loud enough...
warwickhunt replied to Jamesemt's topic in Amps and Cabs
I used to gig with a 250w 2x10 H&K Bassbase combo and it had no problems keeping me in the mix in a 'pub' Rock band setting. However, though I managed fine, it would have been nice to have had more headroom/drivers, so I'd never say never but it does depends on the quality of the gear that you are using. If you are considering going to a stereo/twin stack, then I'd seriously consider all of your options before going down that route as there are a multitude of ways of being heard effectively. -
... seriously must be worth more than this!
Yes but the auction has days to go, so the price may well be down in the dumps right now but could end anywhere... including staying at the price it is, I suppose! -
Newcastle - Where to see good live music?
warwickhunt replied to mrtcat's topic in General Discussion
What sort of music? You could have a quick look here and get some ideas... http://www.onthecasemusic.co.uk/gigs If you want to know what a particular band or venue is like, give me a shout as I may know them/it. -
Warwick Streamer II from a London shop
warwickhunt replied to TorVic's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Do a search on the forum and you'll uncover views re. NKRV. However that SSII specifically has been listed and relisted for months now! -
Absolute pleasure to deal with and his Aria bass couldn't have been better packaged for delivery... and I mean that it literally could NOT have been packed better by anyone; a bomb-proof box custom built to ship the bass!
