I got this (and the first one with the same woods) made purely because of the cosmetics, which is why it looks so awesome, I've noticed a few people have copied the combination since too.
You did a very fine job spec'ing this bass!

thanks for the comments guys, yes the weight thing often comes up but as you both say they are well balanced and with a wide strap I never find them uncomfortable. May have a possible trade on this over the weekend so will see what happens. I will be sorry to see it go as it is a very striking choice of woods and the ebony bound flame sycamore neck......mmmm, my other ACG is lovely but not nearly as pretty. Cheers Martin
nice. the strings look super low, are they? how does it play?
I'd say the action is about medium (i'll have a go at measuring it tonight), I tend to be quite heavy handed when playing so i can't have it too low! The neck has a slighty asymetric profile which is very comfortable - probably slightly thinner than a Precision but bigger than a Jazz. This bass is heavy as it uses some fairly dense wood - stripy ebony/sycamore/wenge/sycamore/ stripy ebony - never found it a problem as it is very well balanced - but i know a lot of people on here do find it a concern...I think it's around 10.5 lbs 'tis a thing os beauty though! Hence i am offering this ACG Finn up for trade - if you have a 5 (or indeed 6) string fretted bass you are interested in trading for this let me know. This bass is on the ACG website gallery page (it's number 037) and lists the spec there, breifly though it has 2 humbuckers and an ACG/East 18v preamp. I will take some decent pics at the weekend and type up a full spec of the woods used. Comes with fitted Hiscox case Cheers Martin

It has served me well but it's time to move this on - it is essentially in unmarked condition and has always been used in a flightcase. £100 Comes with boss PSU and instructions I will try to sort out some pics but you all know what these look like. Cheers Martin P.S. I'm in North Hampshire if you want to pick it up or I can post at buyers expense.

This could be completely irrelevant but - I was playing a pub gig recently and using the same settings as with other gigs etc but it sounded like i was getting some distortion (harsh rasping tone) when we did a sound check. Now I always listen out front without ear protection when we do the sound check and it did sound harsh - however when i put my earplugs (etimotic thingies) in it revealed that everything was absolutely fine (simply too loud for the space)...my point being that it is sometimes very difficult to tell whats going on when playing at very high volumes as the human ear starts to give up and compress everything to noise with some frequencies becoming more prevelant than others.. and yes we did turn it down! I realise that's probably not what's going on here but where the human ear is concerned i have noticed that when you turn things up they dont just simply get louder.

I have been using a Boss ME 50 B and have been very impressed with it - a very good one box does all solution, it has an excellent range of compressor/limiter options, built in tuner, expression pedal and programable effects - pretty well does everything and there's a noise gate built in too. Well made and relatively inexpensive plus a fair few crop up second hand. As it is i don't really use effects any more so mine's likely to be one of those that pops up in the for sale fairly shortly. I play in a covers band and this was the initial spur for me to play 5 string (transposed song keys and a number of songs that needed D or lower). However a blast of GAS for another ACG meant I have now started playing a 4 string again and whilst I have put a D tuner on to cope with some of the songs I am really enjoying it. I was getting a bit lazy on the 5 string and sat around the 5th fret playing everything without thinking (probably only a problem if you're playing standard covers stuff) - the 4 string has forced me to revisit the way I play, which is no bad thing. I use a Line 6 Relay G50, having tried several wireless units I concluded this was the best for me. I tried 2 other digital systems the Stageclix (very nicely made, but would need and extension cable to move the sender away from the guitar body if using an active, due to interference) and a Brace DWG (noisy, massive latency, loss of low end and ate batteries - but cheap). Other big plus point with the Line 6 is the battery life and level indication is excellent so there's no chance of getting caught out with a loss of power.
