I have just bought another bass - so in accordance with the strict one in one out policy and the fact that it won't get a lot of use now, I am going to offer my Spector Legend 5 for sale. It was bought off a fellow basschatter and is in good condition barring a chip on the headstock and the usual signs of wear but nothing serious (I will post pics asap). This is a 35inch scale and has a very good B, active electronics with spector Tone Pump preamp and EMG pickups. The Legend has the curved body and locking bridge, as I say I am selling because of a new purchase otherwise this would not be leaving me! I am in hampshire and dont really want to post this, I can deliver or meet half way (within reason and perhaps cover my fuel) if collection is not possible. NOW £165 (DROPPED FROM £185) THIS NEEDS TO GO IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND WILL NEED TO BE COLLECTED THIS WEEK. Thanks for looking Martin
2. Is this still for sale?
3. You have a PM
4. I have a 121p combo and use it with a 121 new York cab, it will go very loud and I would be surprised if it wasn't man enough for most applications. I wanted a compact rig that I could easily carry and store, this has proved perfect. I do find it useful to set it up close to a wall for some boundary reinforcement of the low end as you won't get the same efficiency from such small cabs as say a couple of large enclosures, but it is very impressive and I don't think I've ever turned it up beyond 11 o'clock.
5.
This is a really individual looking bass. Lovely!
thanks, I'm really pleased with how it has turned out - the inspiration for the pickguard shape was the Steve Bailey Fender Jazz.
6. Just saw this thread and thought I'd add my recently modified Squier Deluxe Jazz V. It has:- Hipshot string retainer (on refinished headstock), Nordstrand NJ5S pickups, John East U retro deluxe preamp and a homemade black pearl pickguard. Sounds great to my ears... and if I could play it better - probably to others ears as well. Mart
7. This statement worries me - 'The neck is straight as a die, yet still get fretbuzz even though the saddles are really high, which of course makes the action at the higher end terrible'. That sounds about right if you mean there's no neck relief - it will tend to buzz even with a very high action- the fender website support area has a setup guide which is very helpful. Of course you may have just meant there was no twist in the neck in which case i'll just shut up..
8. has this now sold?
9. Many thanks Pete, very nice bass and sounds good through my markbass rig. i look forward to trying it out at the next band rehearsal. Cheers Martin
10. Is this still available?
11. you're absolutely right I should be - but I've gone down the 5 string route and it's not come out of it's case since and is too good a bass to just sit around.
12. i'm based in north Hampshire but can travel. The Ibanez is a through neck with maple body 'wings' in transparent black. Bartollini pickups and 3band active eq and comes with Ibanez hard case. It's 2 years old and in excellent condition. It does have very narrow neck which isn't always to peoples taste. Only reason I am looking to shift it is I recently bought a 5 string and would like a second 5 rather than have a 4 that isn't getting any use.
13. Thanks, sounds like good advice chaps, I will get my thinking cap on and see whether or not to try and sell it.
14. would an Ibanez SR900 be of any interest as a trade?
15. Hi chaps, I'm toying with the idea of selling my 4string Ibanez SR900 and wonder if anyone has a good idea of what i should be asking for it. Its in excellent condition and has the Ibanez hardcase (this didnt come as standard). I don't believe they make them any more, its a through neck with flame maple body in transparent black and Bartollini pickups and pre amp. Mart
16. I recently bought a 5 string bass mainly because there were a few songs i wanted to play that used either a drop tuning or needed a B string. Since buying it a month ago I haven't stopped using it and simply don't go near my 4 string any more - in fact I'm thinking of selling it. I used to play guitar before taking up bass a couple of years ago and have to say I think I feel much more at home on a 5 string - the extra flexibility and options that a B string provides particularly being able to transpose fingering positions up the neck make it well worth having. I bought a Squier jazz V deluxe active which for the money is a fantastic guitar although it does have the widest neck known to man (2 inches at the nut) , however, I've found this very useful in forcing me to tidy up my otherwise sloppy technique. As for weighty instruments - the 'comfort strapp' is absolutely fantastic.
17. i've not gigged it yet and only used it in the rehearsal studio, but the rehearsal volume is pretty high and it seems to cope fine. It also looks very cute as a diminutive 500w stack. i'll take some pics at the next rehearsal. One other thing of course is you can control the high frequency driver level and this does seem to tame the somewhat aggressive high end you sometimes get with the combo on its own. I don't have much to compare it too Frank so couldn't comment on how it would sound in comparison to the Schroeder 1212L, so trying one would be a must really given the price. As I said earlier this seems to make a superb (albeit expensive) mini rig if you are tight on space and want to be able to move it without risk of back pain. Mart
18. I have now bought an NY121 extension cab for my combo and can confirm it gives a marked increase in volume and a larger 'spread' of sound than the combo on its own. it is very light and easily fits into the boot of my car next to the combo. I would certainly recomend it - although given the price it probably doesn't represent good value for money unless compactness is absolutely key as it is with me.
19. Nice guitar, - just to be pedantic the F prefix in the serial number would suggest 1986-87 according to Fenders own site. very nice bass though cheers
