Truss rod tightens but neck doesn't move
Baloney Balderdash replied to MoonBassAlpha's topic in Repairs and Technical
You do realize that loosening the truss rod will result in more relief, as in a greater bow, whereas tightening the truss rod will result in less release, as in less bow, right? Also a crack in the fretboard is a really bad sign. -

An odd little bass quest, and opinions needed from BC
Baloney Balderdash replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
Dark/deep metallic purple, like this, maybe? : Or, as someone else suggested, buy an adhesive skin, covering the whole body of the bass, in just about whatever color or pattern you should wish, for example purple paisley, here for instance: https://www.skinyourskunk.com/ Just to get an idea of what is possible, try to take a look on these to start with: https://www.skinyourskunk.com/pattern-guitar-skins.php- 44 replies

Standard pick or Triangle Pick
Baloney Balderdash replied to BassAdder60's topic in General Discussion
What is the best pick for metal? On a more serious note: No! I even tend to use the round corners of regular teardrop shaped picks. As does Bobby Vega, who got to be the absolute master of pick playing on bass. That said it is completely down to personal preferences, as is pick material and gauge. If there really was only one ultimate pick for bass and one ultimate pick for guitar, regardless of individual/personal physics, preferences, style, pickups, string choice, amp, cab, and song, everyone would be playing just that, and it would be the only 2 different picks on the market. -
Modding a bass - pickups or EQ first?

Is Mirkwood a great tonewood? -
I've seen this guy before, and that is just silly. I guess the only reason why he didn't have it even lower is that the output jack plug from the bass would then be hitting the ground.

117cm, and I am 6'4'' (192cm) tall. It matches so that the bass is at about the same location as it would have been if sitting down playing it without a strap. (Edit!!!: 126.5cm hole to hole, currently. This also seems to be pretty much spot on where my bass would naturally be if I sat with it.)

How to ease a band member out?
Baloney Balderdash replied to SuperSeagull's topic in General Discussion
No, but if not then what are you actually speaking about/what is your point? Also I posted my reply a bit premature, which I unfortunately have a really bad habit with, before I had made sure I actually said all I wanted to say, I apologize for that, but please read it again in the edited updated version. -
How to ease a band member out?
Baloney Balderdash replied to SuperSeagull's topic in General Discussion
That might be, but does it reflect in the actual music industry, and musical underground as well, that is the actual music released, and do they all really do all styles equally well? Just because you are trained in something doesn't mean you are good at it. And I am certain different people will naturally have more talent in some styles over others, as well as I would think there is still something to be said for specializing over being a jack of all trades. -

I don't think that claim is in line with actual reality. Also seems like an odd analogy that to me doesn't really seem to actually work as an analogy here. Can't tell if you are joking. -
What do all these Preamps Actually Do?
Baloney Balderdash replied to Tokalo's topic in General Discussion
As other people have already pointed out the pickups have a much bigger say on the basic tone/character of your bass than any onboard preamp will ever have. So I am going to repeat the advice those other people have already given, if, and only if, you need your bass to produce a different tone, start with swapping the pickups for some different/"better" ones, closer to your personal preference. -
