Fender Player Plus....more blurred lines or a smart move?
Eldon Tyrell replied to merello's topic in Bass Guitars
Got yourself three likes. Not bad, eh? π -
Just saw this over at TB- A new, but not yet officially announced, Euro Series - Euro RST. Key features seem to be the roasted maple necks, empress wood as body wood (aka paulownia, known to be very light), the three new finishes and Aguilar humbuckers and Aguilar OBP-2 preamp. The latter makes sense thanks to Korg's recent acquisition of Aguilar. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Spector/Euro-4-RST-Electric-Bass.gc What do you think?

Here is a nice US SB-2 that comes with a tone control. Nice weight, decent price (no affiliation with the seller!): Soundclips: -

Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde [..]: "I used to goof with Dime, Vulgar is like with the Spinal Tap album, except instead of it being, 'You can't get none more black,' it's 'You can't get none more heavier.' It was just the most brutal thing. I remember hearing it and going, What the hell are these guys smoking?" Nuff said. -

Fender Player Plus....more blurred lines or a smart move?

Think I have seen the new blue gradient finish before: -
-
Well, their record sales numbers and their strong brand equity probably mean they don't really have to do much more.
-
I think you are right. Looks like Fender's marketing people really love the letter "P": Professional I, Professional II, Performer, Player and now Player Plus. What next? Power, Progress, Proficiency, Prestige, Privilege, Popular, Phenomenon, Pure, Paradigm, Preference, Paramount, Pleasure, Premiere, Pinnacle, Premium, Prowess, Purity, or Peak? Ok, Fender, in case you'll go for one of these, don't forget my 20% commission π

Cheers. Guitarguitar has a pre-owned one in stock. Get it and we can be Batman & Robin π
-
Yeah, been there, done that and got the t-shirt

Well, I just did some digging and Fender actually already used the colour back in the early to mid 90s for their Strats. They called it "blue pearl dust". Haven't found a bass with that finish though.

I don't have any bass gear funds left for this year, but I am still on the hunt and happy to plunder our savings for this one, just cannot find one anywhere π
-
Don't worry. I am happy to help. I'll send you some photos whenever I come across a nice one π
-
This sounds familiar. Good luck with that π

Fortunately for me and our bank account, it has one string too many π

Cool stuff, first the Timmy C, now the Bongo BFR, maybe this one next? As we all know, all good things come in threes π
