1. I've heard good stuff about the Carvins, especially for the price.
2. Even speakers that are the same size can have phase issues together.
3.
Since 'punch' is a purely subjective term one can't say. One also can't predict what any cab will sound like based on driver size alone, this explains why: http://www.eminence.com/resources/data.asp Most who combine a 1x15 and 4x10 do so assuming that a 1x15 will go lower than a 4x10. Usually that's not the case, nor will a 1x15 be as loud as a 4x10. The best addition to a 4x10 is another identical 4x10.
+1
4. That's great! I'm considering a LMIII T'DM combination.
5.
I have read this thread the while way through... And it was a read and a half! :-) I agree with about 50%, and read the rest as peoples frustration. None of the comments read here put me off. I currenty play MarkBass, who have a great reputation. I am however on my 3rd MarkBass Amp head due to the last 2 dying on me! I still use them though. In the very near future I will be the owner of the 1st T'Double Midget cab, I'm excited about recieiving it and not at all put off by others views and experiences. Shep
I'm really interested in the T'Double Midget. Do you know when you're getting it?
6. I haven't seen Alex make any outlandish claims about his cabs, bigfatbass.
7. The Double Midget looks like it's going to be really good. I'd wait for one of them myself (which I am doing ).
8. If you want it to be very loud, you may want to consider a more powerful head than the LMII. Either that or get a Barefaced Double Midget, which is a great deal more sensitive than the Big One.
9. I should imagine the Shuttle 9.0 would be good with T'Double Midget. It's got the power to boost the bass right up. By the way, how's that going?
10. This is such a good price. I was going to buy a Markbass F1, but for 80 quid more I get 400W more power at 4 ohms!
11. How much was it? If you don't mind me asking. edit: It seems to be £679 from Bass Direct.
12. Unintentional baffle pun? Also, I think you need all the various measurements of the box to choose the right driver.
13.
I agree, and I don't run big cabs... both go on the back seat of my car and I can carry them with one hand But it is pointless having a light cab if all it has going for it it is that it is loud... or light. I have heard that complaint about too many light cabs...loud but dull as dishwater...their words, not mine.
I've heard it about plenty of heavy cabs as well.
14. GS cabs are supposed to have a bit of a mid scoop, whilst the DBs are a bit more prominent in the mids.
15. Remember that speaker size only affects dispersion. It doesn't affect tone.
16. I wonder how much it'll be over here.
