1.
Sounds like a big muff and agressive playing with bright strings. Those misfits sig strings are grotesquely bright.
Have you played the signature strings??? Is there much difference from normal strings?
2. Recently purchased a kent armstrong pickup from Nick. Good communication, Well packaged - top man!

4. Can anyone tell me what kind of pedal I can buy to replicate this sound? From browsing the web, the Electro Harmonix muffs appear to be similar but there are that many to choose from plus I don’t have a clue what else is out there. I've found a sound clip if this helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnzKZFWnY6w (Skip to 1:50 for the solo bit)
5. The bassist from Tiger Army also uses a double bass: Cool Paintjob
6.
Aye MrJim, you made a good job of it. Did it perform ok on sat? Spoke to my mate who changed the pickup and he suggests that you check the wiring at some point as his soldering aint the best! Jez
yeah i'm really pleased with it. The wiring hasnt caused any problems so you can tell you mate he done a fine job with the wring. There was one or two very small flakes of paint that were coming off. I thought it looked a wee bit too black with the body/pickguard/pickup all black. Maybe even seeing the polepieces on the pickup would have been enought to break it up. I like black/wite contrast.
7. you can also buy all sorts from maplin for a few pence
8. Well...the scratchplate has since been returned to white. I must have been lucky with the paint stripper cos it did'nt tarnish the finish of the plastic (The painbrsh wasnt as lucky however). Managed to get the rest off the edges by shaving off with a stanley knife. I dont understand the star either... its currently covered witha sticker more suiting my tastes. It is a cracking bass, especially with the upgrades: I'll need to get a proper outdoors photo like most folk seem to have

SX Basses

Their stock is better than nothing, but i emailed them to ask if they could source other SX basses (Would love the '75 jazz) but they said they only have the green '62 etc that are on their site. If enough people were to email, maybe they would change their mind...
12. I'm looking to sell my Vintage V100 Les Paul Copy. (Tobacco Sunburst/Gold Hardware) I've played it for the last few years and am only selling as I’ve unexpectedly found myself with the real thing. I still like it but I don’t have any need for 2 of the same. All the relevant stats can be found direct from JHS: http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html It has one or two scratches on the back but really you can only see them when you peer at the back of the body - I’ve tried to show them in the photos but its only surface marks, it’s not through to the wood... Note the bag of compost isn’t included! It does come with the scratchplate shown in the photo, however I prefer them without There's a small flake of paint that’s chipped off the headstock - it actually looks worse in the photo because of the camera flash - it’s about 1mm wide but much darker than it looks: Ask if you want extra photo's £90 - Collection from Glasgow

14. i bought some and they're actually ok. I'm not much of a string conniseur but they seem as good as Rotosounds. Mine didnt have the fabric bits covering the string ends bu apart from that... ok
15.
Of the 3 you're considering I'd go for the Vintage V940 without any hesitation. You might also consider the Vintage V4 Precision copy - http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintagebass.html
i can vouch for the v940 as well... its very good for the money
16. i would like to second this with my purchase from him yesterday - top guy!
17. stringsdirect.co.uk has them: http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/products/18...blue_steel_bass
18. one of my strings just broke this morning... after 19 months - i dont change mine until they break (like james jamerson!) i dont know how you can afford to change strings so often...
19.
they do or used to do a cracking active fretless with a nice mahogany bod, think the model was a vb someting or other, EDIT: now i remember it was a actually a bubinga body
its the vintage V940/950 series... i've got the fretted 4 string version. i really like it. The body is small in comparison to most basses but i really like the neck and the hardware hasnt broken after several years use...
20. To resurrect this thread, does anyone own one of these amps or have any opinions about them? On the surface of it, they sound good value for the money but a lack of specs does sound alarm bells Guitar and bass magazine (I think) give it an award as one of the best budget amps of the year… should i read into this too much???
