    3-ply white/black/white jazz pickguard of unknown origin. I bought this here last year for a project bass I was building. However I changed my mind and decided to go for a black pickguard. I don’t know what bass this would fit so I’ve scanned it so you can print off a copy and line up the holes. Just make sure you set page scaling to “none” before printing to ensure it prints without any distortion. I’m asking for £9 posted via Royal Mail First Class [attachment=74235:Jazz_Pickguard.pdf]

    Are artist endorsed strings any different from the regular production line ones or are you paying a bit extra just for the special packaging and the association with the artist? I realise the gauge might be a special combination but are the basically just regular strings?

    I’m another one who almost exclusively uses Legacy strings (guitar and bass). I don’t have a bad word to say about them… only wish they would branch out into flatwounds and tapewounds too!

    Bought a 62 SX Jazz copy off sickpuppy and am NOT pleased... After sickpuppy said he would send it Royal Mail Special Delivery (and charged appropriately for postage), the bass finally arrived about 20 mins ago via parcelfroce 48 hour service. My experience is a similar one to derrenleepoole. As can be seen in the photo's this bass simply wrapped in two thin bin liners (with a bit of tape round the neck) with no other packaging whatsoever! As you can imagine the bass did not arrive unscathed - the bin liner was ripped at the bottom exposing the body and a large chunk of finish is missing straight through to the wood. The bottom strap pin has also been damaged so it is now impacted into the body. I did ask before buying if the bass had any marks or dings and was told it did not. I can easily count 4 or 5 areas of damage on the body alone. The seller also said the sale would include a set of chrome bridge and pickup covers - these were not included. The neck is also in a bit of a state, there seems to be some kind of green gunge on the frets (whether or not this would polish off I’m not sure) I have PM'd sickpuppy and am awaiting a response. It is a shame as this looks like it has been a really nice bass to begin with and just what I was after, however the whole experience has left me disappointed.     Feedback is a bit late but still just as valuable. Met Nollaig a few weeks ago when he bought a bridge i was selling. Transaction went without a hitch plus we had a nice chat about all things bass. Top Man!

    another possibility might be to use a bottle of black leather dye (I bought a bottle of the Dylon brand from the nearest Timpsons for around £4) I've sucessfully used it on an electric bass fretboard without it transferring onto the strings.

It did give a nice enough sound when connected. I removed most the black poly coating on the back of the neck with the intention of respraying but never got round to it. Unfortunately some of the paint has sunk into the grain so I don’t think it would be possible to completely remove every trace of black. I’ve tried to show the worst of it in the photos. This will require finish sanding with a bit of 400 and 600 grit paper to smooth out the surface. The fretboard will require finish sanding as well.     Bought this for a project that never started so as new, never been wired up. This is a copy of the Seymour Duncan Invader Pickup. I bought this from axesrus so it is unbadged but looks to be similar to the irongear hammerhead. 15k output, ceramic magnets, 4 core cable so can be coil tapped if required.
