The quality of the originals looks like it's worth doing the "unscrew the gear from the post" clean up. Better (and cheaper) than replacement.

Check out Joni Mitchell tunings seriously the reason I got a bass was because I couldn't play chords on guitar. I have about 30 written down - there's more - that I use on my Squier Strat. I de-tune or whatever and put that neck/middle pu on w/ clean chorus & echo echo echo...

I had fun reading this. There are a lot I agree with, and here in the "Born In The USA" (I can't believe that Stanley Clarke video), AND LIVING IN NEW JERSEY, the only songs that really make me start screaming "Ahhh..." while grabbing for the volume is Bon Jovi.
