  3. It's what you've always wanted and it's your big birthday so it seems as if you'll be hanging on to it, go for it! If they are hard to get and pricey in your country, then even more reason to get it. I wouldn't worry about the possible discrepancy with the serial number and date, the MIJ serial numbers don't always match the manufacturing date. I had a MIJ Strat that had a serial number that was several years earlier than the date pencilled on the end of the (original) neck.
  4. As said, it's not a problem but just normal wear and tear, I'd leave it as is, it doesn't look excessive to me. Makers charge more to put artificial wear on instruments, this is genuine and all-natural... I agree with @Hellzero, it is overpriced. The MIJ Fenders are good but everyone seems to think they equate to the legendary JVs (which tbemselves have gone a bit mad with prices). What model is it? i.e. the PB number?

  7. Just plug the hole, as described earlier, and replace the existing 50mm screw. It will be perfectly fine in freshly-cut threads and there are the other 3 screws in there as well. If the neck was going to move then it would have done so by now, don't worry about it.
  8. It's possibly working loose due to being driven in to an already-threaded hole but the mismatched threads have resulted in the hole getting chewed. Probably just easiest to plug the hole (use cocktail sticks and white wood glue, doesn't need to be anything fancy). A handy tip is to cut the cocktail sticks flush - after being placed in hole with glue - with end-cutters or side-cutters. A small diameter pilot hole may be needed before screwing in the same screw you have now. Being in newly-cut threads should ensure it holds fine. If you want to return it to stock then you may find the original Fender screw will cut its way in without any more filling needed and, being longer, will cut enough new depth to be perfectly secure. Do you have the original screw if you want to return it to stock?

  10. @mattbass6 It's a very reasonable £18 for a year's opportunity to create 'For Sale' threads and for access (i.e. creating, replying to and reading posts) in the 'Wotzit werth?' section. All those who have currently paid for this have '*Supporting Member*' written in their title block. The 'Wotzit werth?' is obviously the section you are after and, as @Mottlefeeder mentioned, this has been created to prevent people avoiding paying to post in 'For Sale' by asking 'wotzit werth?' in the general discussion area and then selling by PMs.

  15. Dojo is another brand to consider, I know a few people who use it and are happy, although, as mentioned, all these operators are competing with each other so will have to keep their costs and features similar. Also as mentioned, you really need to have a card reader for even a small amount of sales as so many people - even tech-dinosaurs such as me - pay electronically. It doesn't prevent people still being able to pay in cash. This latter point is one that I futilely make to my barber: she stubbornly remains cash-only, her argument being that "a lot of her customers like paying in cash". Well, they obviously will as there is no option. I have said that she'd be surprised by the number who would pay electronically if it were an option, plus the benefits of not handling cash (bank runs, having loads of change etc.) but she won't have it... Let us know what you end up with and how you get on.

  17. Another repair option: Cut a square(ish, it doesn't need to be precise) piece of ply or similar, place on the underside of the cab top and fix the handle to this. Use a dome-headed machine screw (this will probably look right on the handle), a washer and a nylock nut. No need to fill the existing torn hole and the wooden piece will help spread the load. Good luck. Edit: obviously will only work if there is access and space. If you can't fit in the piece of wood, there may still be room for the washer and nut, though. Further thought: it may be woth taking the preventative step of repeating the process on the other fixing; it would be frustrating if your repair held but then the other end of the handle ripped out.

  22. Classic. Ticks all the boxes for me: nice 3-tone sunburst and a really dark rosewood board. The changed pickguard and knobs look absolutely fine; the full-sized reverse-wind tuners and the threaded saddles are a real bonus. This will not hang around.
  23. It's a shame that she sounds as she does but this is inevitable for most singers as they age. I heard her (on't telly) at Glastonbury, I think it was, a while back and she didn't sound brilliant then. It'll be interesting to hear Elton John this weekend.
