  1. Can't believe that either Alain! I'm pretty much disbanded as it stands and potentially can do with 2 basses just... that new SR4 has brought me memories of my forever love... that and a backup/different taste will probs do enough for me. Thank you for the kind words, easy to deal with when the receiving end is a great chap like you Argh! Argh Argh! Life eh? The purple bass was to be the star of the show from here on on my punk band! Still thinking wether I should let it go/will find better.... Received in late October and not gigged yet, as it came from Mark...! I had a bunch of gigs in November and didn't have a chance to try it out as we didnt rehearse and I was upgrading the circuitry... then Crimbo.... C'mon Karl, there's always space for one, particularly when 1/1 and as special as this beauty
  2. In perfect working condition with original box, cheapest price I've seen it for so pretty firm. Would trade for Microtubes X7 or a nice Compressor, as that's all I need really.

  3. Fantastic Eich T900 - bought from new end of December - can forward receipt etc Really good condition, gigged once, full warranty etc etc. Not a problem with it, I would trade for an Eich T500 ideally, plus cash my way - I don't need that much power. I could be teased with a Bergantino amp but would be on a like for like trade and since I'd like to trade the compressor - Eich T500 or cash is most likely. I'm after the Eich T500 from bass direct - if that sells or no other appears I will withdraw this. Best, Ander.
  4. Hey All, These basses have been loved for and absolutely fantastic, with not a single added mark nor ding. As bought new from Mark. You can see how strongly I feel about Limelights across many posts in this forum. £950 - '68 Purple Metallic ultra light relic - comes with tweed case, jazz neck, as new with only home use, very very little use * Matching headstock - vintage tinted nitro neck * Nordstrand Power Blade - can genuinely do warm clean but super nice distortion * KiOgon circuit with tone selector: 1. kill switch, 2, bypass for max output, 3 is 0.22pf, 4 is 0.100pf. Series / Parallel push/pull on volume with a very very convincing jazz pickup sound. * Fender US original ashtray covers, aging matched * Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners aged to match * New NYXL 45-105 * 3.65kg from Mark's scales. This first picture is more accurate body colour wise, but it really pops in may other pictures: Price sheet added just before completion -£1398 not including Nordstrand pickup I used, nor KiOgon circuit (total easily over 1,550£), hence £950 ovno: Plenty of references, more pictures if requested, any question just ask. Best, Ander.
  5. If only they were under 9lbs more often… that 1979 with graphite neck is looking at me but again, weight and whatnot likely will throw me off.
  6. Aha! Noticed the other 1/2 in the UK and I’m tempted. Plastics on and all…. Aaaah… how do you compare it to a stingray? Guess similar to a current day 4HH…?
  7. Hey Andy, I have come across this - how do you find it? impressions, weight, sounds etc? now that the honeymoon face has likely worn out, I'd like to know your thoughts!
  8. @marleaux62 weren’t you after one of these?
  9. I had a a stingray Special 5 of the first run as my second bass (a treat after years of guitars and acknowledging bass is where my heart is)… back then I wasn’t playing as much in bands, only a project, and whilst saving for house, wedding and other misfortunes, a SR5 Special felt a bit too much bass for me - sadly I had to let it go...: Drop dead gorgeous in Cruz Teal…! Some 20 basses later I still miss a Special and now I play in 2 bands, my 35th bday is approaching and got a new job/promotion so it all lined up for this beauty to happen 2nd hand from Kev in this forum: I am so excited about this - it’s jumped right up my #1 bass, feels like meeting with an old friend again, as you can see it is in perfect nick! I’m struggling to play any of my other 2 basses to be honest…! Having said that each will take the stage for the dingy gigs hehe Surprisingly the Stingray can do a great P sound with the bass maxed out and the treble zeroed… This Last preamp is super versatile, of course jazzy and slap/pop sounds are pretty easy to pull but most times I keep it all flat with minor changes. The whole family:
  10. I was young and inexperienced back then Luke, please. But, yes, you told me so 😂 and I was trying to make P basses sound like everything else. In all honesty, through all the basses I’ve had the Stingray Special is the one I really miss/regret selling (although that was a 5 string and back then I wasn’t playing enough to warrant keeping it). Also since I’m confessing… I was trying to convince myself (maybe a bit too hard) that no bass above 1200£ ish is worth it for me. Spoiler alert: I was wrong. Or worse, lying to myself. I’m happy for now as things are, it all makes sense… for now. Genuinely want to change this behaviour 🧐 if I can’t settle on a Stingray Special I simply cannot settle on anything…! I had the Sterling ray34 but this neck is more comfortable, better finished and well the sound is shocking nice…! Long may it last…! Ander.
  11. Jack just purchased my shortly owned, sadly leaving JMJ Mustang. Great communications and super easy to deal with - top chap to the community and marketplace, sell with confidence. Ander.
  12. Great advise ha! I do prefer the jazz neck to be honest - having said that the SR Special is quite wide for my standards but shallower which makes a lot of sense when increasing width, I do love the touch of a Stingray neck...!
  13. Hmm, this is interesting - I hold my Limelights to the best standard that a 1200£ bolt on bass can give, but also still the bridge to my Stingray Special is now more obvious - wondering if Nash is the equivalent before going full whack on a Fender CS (not my budget, maybe if really lucky on a 2nd hand one). My band is potentially disbanding and I'm wondering whether I need 3 basses (2 Limelights and the forementioned MM SR Special) - I have a feeling that if I 'upgrade' to a Nash or something similar and let go of the Limelights I'll end up missing them one way or another! I should just get busy playing or practising, my current lineup doesnt really need improving for 2 bands lol! Best, Ander.
  14. oooft! Gorgeous! I love the Sean Hurley one, how’re you finding it? I love the mute on your/my Limelight, hope it’s serving you well. Much as I’ve tried to defend that instruments over 1200£ range are too much money… well, a Stingray Special made its way back to me and gosh, I have missed that top tier instruments feel dearly. how would you compare those two against the Limelight…? Best, Ander.
  15. Oh actually, look what I came across…! Not the same of course but I’m drooling over this.
  16. ‘ItS NoT bLaCK ItS ChArCoAL…’ I love pulling that one, sorry and thanks! It really is a lovely bass - came to life with flats funny enough, it’s a Motown machine! I’m really in love with it…! take care buddy! Ander.
  17. Gauge: ,045, ,065, ,085, ,105 24 Carat gold coating Suitable for people allergic to nickel Long scale Hexagonal core Roundwound Made in Germany Cut for 3+1 MM/Stingray. Postage likely 1,50£ including padded envelope. These strings have plenty of life as the gold coating preserves them - I'm just loyal to NYXL for rounds and hence surplus to requirements (I had 3 sets of NYXL lying around) but I can testify they're very bright still without being overpowering. Best, Ander.
  18. Aha…! Let’s see if that works just now 😉
  19. Hey buddy thanks! Still available, I replied to your PM 😉

    Kev's Feedback

Bought Kev's wonderful Charcoal Sparkle Musicman Stingray Special. Can I just commend the perfect shape of this bass? This bass has been gigged and it's in as good shape as new. I've had a SR5 Special from new in the past and this is in the same condition. I of course had to adjust it and change strings to my taste but the neck and body etc is spotless as advertised - buy with confidence from this lovely chap: easy communications and frequent updates, serious seller. Ander.
  21. Haha! I know eh? I did - but the band disbanding means a change in gear - also a super nice dream bass came here, my 35th bday is coming, I’m expecting a bonus and got a new job for April… …and my wife said ‘just get the bass you want and get it out of your system!’ - you really need to take on those times your wife tells you to do something. It’s what good husbands do. Planets aligned and had to take that chance…! Also, I am loyal to my 3 hanger system. One comes in so one must come out…! I’ve just been playing it and heck, it’s a load of fun eh… Ander.
  22. Hi all, This little bass is last one in and first one out regrettably. Whilst I love it, my current band is suddenly disbanding (totally unexpected) and I've no use for this baby outside it. The bass is in perfect condition, and has been cleaned with the Music Nomad suite (nut lubrication, fretboard moisturiser, detailer and polish) by yours trully who uses to charge for bass adjustments locally. Lovely nitro finish sheen and dark even rosewood board. The action is mid-low (can get lower without buzz but even to myself it felt too low) and the neck is ultra straight. All working perfectly. Bought for the asking price, but I'm throwing in a brand new short scale Fender fitted gigbag (upgrade over the long scale stock one it comes with) and LaBella 760F-MUS (right string with silk on both ends designed for neck through Mustangs, instead of the crappy long scale Fenders in stock). A considerable upgrade. As you can see her I love the bass - huge lot of dynamics and sensitive to touch and hand placement. The adjustment gigbag and strings would kick you almost £100 so no silly offers please. Weight is a healthy 3.5kg / 7lbs11oz Any more pictures requests just ask. Will you look at this near black looking fretboard...! In a darker light the Daphne blue can change quite a bit - both colours are pretty accurate: Internet picture but the gigbag is exactly this one, much better than the long scale stock:
  23. Hey all, Took this as a 'gift' from a buyer. It is battered everywhere but has a confident weight and solid woods, I'd say alder/rosewood. I've taken a lot of grime from it and it is okay to touch it now - I could potentially be infected with new diseases to be discovered in this bass - I can't promise you won't catch them but at least now you will stay clean after holding this bass. I was gonna restore it with my spare gotoh res-o-lite aged tuners (from my limelights' E strings, now on Hipshot Xtender drop D tuners) but they won't fit with this bass' fender mex style tuners. The bass works; E string tuner is broken although it turns with pliers. Adding red pickguard of my own and you're welcome to take one gotoh resolite if useful to you as a project, same as coper tape, thumb rest etc. Will take strings in trade, tapewound prefered. If I have to drive/move around I rather take cash, otherwise I'm happy to hear what you have, I don't need pedals or anything so.... I reckon just strings would do trade wise. Unless you have a similar range fretless bass that I can fiddle with - not interested in pocketing out, thanks! Best, Ander.
  24. Now that I have 3 basses, one P on rounds, the other on flats… thinking whether I should try nylon tapewounds on the JMJ…! The 760F-MUS labellas are great but they’re greater yet on my P bass, I may fancy a change. Any experiences on shorties with tapewounds? The medium scale would do for the trick for the thru body strings on the Mustang. Best, Ander.
  25. Aha! You do make sense on that pickup/setting assessment - I'm happy with the JMJ's 41mm where I wouldn't as a long scale, 38mm has to be interesting! Made me chuckle with the fence comment but I totally get you! I think my only grip on why I wouldn't go full on short scale is a) the string spacing, I love my 19mm and can't seem to find that on the JMJ or other Fender/Classic styles, and b) I would miss the piano-like statement-y tone definition of my long scales. Having said that, I've found my JMJ (my first foray into short scales) a great lot of fun (that thing does grrrrooove!). Ander.
