2.
The Jungle Book! probably the film of my childhood. Some absolutely brilliant tunes on there. Second to Blues Brothers, but we all know that already
Okay, I'm with you.
3.
But such a rubbish film.

...and Holst from Stravinsky, Stravinsky from Rimsky-Korsakov, Rimsky-Korsakov from Wagner, Wagner from Beethoven, Beethoven from J.S Bach... his influences in no way diminish John Williams' talent as the most recognisable film scorer of the 20th century.
You took the words right out of my mouth - then added more very apt examples.
4. As I had my bass in my hands I went along with his instructions. Added to the joy/pain
5. Starwars? Surely the best film score ever, awesome
6. I would love the thing but it seems like the Cyberbass has his heart set on it. Plus the next time I'm in Cardiff it's by train, I don't think that would be the easiest commute! Thanks anyway
7.
Its unfortunate that most of the time with players such as these all you get to see/hear is a huge w***fest and there's probably few have heard them playing 'regular' stuff. As I've heard Billy Sheehan say before, he's paid to be the bass player yet all you see on Youtube are those solos and people get fed up with them forgetting that they actually play 'bass' bass Wasn't Mr Big's biggest hit 'To Be With You Again'? So simple and no widdles
Yeah I totally agree, most of the Wooten haters will have never sat down and listened to a Flecktones album. In that circumstance he rarely overplays, but type his name into google and you get his NAMM chops and the bass solo from a two hour gig as a side man put right out of context. I think this is an important point that everyone forgets sometimes, it's just sad that some people never realise this in the first place (and it's not necessarily their fault).
8. I got it today, which is great considering I ordered it on Friday afternoon. I haven't had a chance to play it with a band and extensively check the thing out so I will post a more informative review after I have done these things (which should be in a couple of days). All I can say now is: Bloody hell, the man wasn't joking when he said it was loud / from my glimpse the tone's pretty good too. I'll keep ye posted.
9. It's Sod's law. The gigs that you look forward to are always so so or terrible. Then you get a boring looking charity gig or the like and by the end your fan-base has doubled and you have several more bookings. To be honest, it's something that adds to the excitement of all this music business though . And to the OP, it sounds to me like your band might be more popular in that acoustic setting. But, then popularity isn't everything... at all.
10. Could you please refer to what type it is? Any pics on google that are similar to this one? Cheers
11. As this is hopefully going to be my occupation anything from 1 to 6 hours a day, normally on the higher end Shed shed shed shed shed....
Anything from 10mins to an hour - sometimes more - little and often is my moto.
There's a nice joke in there but I left my flame-proof onsey at a friend's place, so I'll just leave it at that
12.
Are there any sample tracks anywhere? I saw lots of mention of who's on it but no indication of what it sounds like.
http://www.myspace.com/janekgwizdalaproject A lot like Mystery to me but more developed by the sounds of things, ie. Awesome.
13. Really looking forward to hearing the album in full
14. I just took the £47 plunge and bought the pickup that he recommended for my tastes, Should arrive early next week so if anyone's interested I'll post a quick review.
15. This guy has a well rated shop on ebay selling lots of transducer pickups. As I need a good double bass one but don't want to spend £100 I was naturally allured to his home-made £50 models that in all honesty look pretty solid, and besides that from my experience the retired guys who try to make a little money from their hobby are normally pretty good. He also claims that some of the pick ups have a high enough output to not worry about using a preamp, if this is the case I am going to be a very happy man and however much a bass fishman pro costs richer. So, has anyone tried them? I've emailed him and I think I'll probably buy a pick up very soon. If I go ahead with the buy I'll keep everyone posted, other people's opinions would be useful too though. Here's a link to the shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/jtoneelectronique
16.

I concur.
17. I personally much prefer his upright playing, and don't really care for his electric playing. I saw him live with Chick Corea last year and that was awesome. He makes the instrument look like a breeze to play, I love it
18. +1 My last 2 basses and my wonderful rig have been bought here and dirt cheap too. Such kindness is rare, and also absent from most other instrument dedicated sites... I guess bassists are just the best! Thanks basschat!
19. Why so far! Any word of any similar events down south or in London? Cheers
20. Once I was experimenting with TCP and bass strings (not trying to get high) and decided to give that a little test on my finger tips as they were sore at the time. It seemed to numb them, which meant I could carry on playing easily... Thought that might be relevant
21. Don't be so confused! I just love those dark woods, especially when they look a bit vintage like that. Reminds me of nice old dark double basses. I'm really pissed I missed that, would have made me a happy chappy!
