1.
I would drink her piss ....
Thank you. You made me laugh very loud.
2. Although it is still fairly erotic... and awesome.
3. Enjoy...
4. Me too, it's a lonely life for a bass player if you live near Dartmouth :'(
5. My SR1006 is my baby. My other two bases lie in a mottled state of disrepair in the shadow of that beast. Good basses
6. Daddy Bear.
7.
I'm intrigued, How did it work out for you???
Sorry I forgot to get back to this thread! I haven't had any gigs on where I have played upright and I have barely used the pickup - as I think I have already mentioned it is definitely a significant improvement on the awful Piezo I had before but I can't really say much else yet. I'll post when I get a good chance to play with it.
8. I would also really appreciate some review type business!
9. +1 to that.
10. I'm also in. Thanks very much!
11. Well that was a fairly surreal retelling...
12. If I owned this thing I don't think I could possibly play it, just bow down to it 3 times a day and bring it offerings of the best consumables the land has to offer... Good luck selling the beauty!
13.
I apologise if you read my post and could only see a condescending tone. My post was in fact not intented for you, but was intended to offer the OP the positive, factual and objective benefits of exams such as rockschool which were not highlighted in your (and a few other) posts, that is all.
In that case sorry for getting so worked up. I may have overreacted but I hope you can see how describing my thoughts as flippant and reckless could be taken as offence, along with all the emphasis. Nice rig by the way - there's something we can see eye to eye with
14.
Can I just say something in response to this, as it's a reckless and flippant comment and people could get the wrong idea. Taking ANY (LCM, Rockschool, Trinity Guildhall or ABRSM) graded music examination above grade 5 (theory or instrumental) will contribute towards your total of UCAS points when applying for University places. If your actual A-Level/BTEC grades alone do not supply you with enough UCAS points, any points gained through graded music exams can be invaluable and could secure you a place at Uni (and if your A-Level/BTEC grade is good, it's just a good way to ensure that you will definately have enough UCAS points) Just because you THINK it didn't do much, this may not be the case for someone else.
I apologise for reflecting on my own experiences and responding to the initial question... If you were to criticize my opinion in a less condescending manner then this might have lead to a beneficial conversation. As it stands however, your valid point is completely overshadowed by your somewhat bigoted input. Now if the thread can continue being flame free it would be for the best.
15. I got a merit in grade 8 Bass with Rockschool in October '09 thinking it might be beneficial for music college applications etc. So far I have had absolutely no use for it at all. Personally I enjoyed the pieces but found everything else fairly useless. For example the choice of arpeggios and scales was strange; one was the superlocrian mode, which I now understand and use in Jazz, but then it was just provided without context or explanation and seemed pretty irrelevant. Good fun, but not much point in paying for the exam
16.
The Jungle Book! probably the film of my childhood. Some absolutely brilliant tunes on there. Second to Blues Brothers, but we all know that already
Okay, I'm with you.
17.
But such a rubbish film.

...and Holst from Stravinsky, Stravinsky from Rimsky-Korsakov, Rimsky-Korsakov from Wagner, Wagner from Beethoven, Beethoven from J.S Bach... his influences in no way diminish John Williams' talent as the most recognisable film scorer of the 20th century.
You took the words right out of my mouth - then added more very apt examples.
18. As I had my bass in my hands I went along with his instructions. Added to the joy/pain
19. Starwars? Surely the best film score ever, awesome
20. I would love the thing but it seems like the Cyberbass has his heart set on it. Plus the next time I'm in Cardiff it's by train, I don't think that would be the easiest commute! Thanks anyway
21.
Its unfortunate that most of the time with players such as these all you get to see/hear is a huge w***fest and there's probably few have heard them playing 'regular' stuff. As I've heard Billy Sheehan say before, he's paid to be the bass player yet all you see on Youtube are those solos and people get fed up with them forgetting that they actually play 'bass' bass Wasn't Mr Big's biggest hit 'To Be With You Again'? So simple and no widdles
Yeah I totally agree, most of the Wooten haters will have never sat down and listened to a Flecktones album. In that circumstance he rarely overplays, but type his name into google and you get his NAMM chops and the bass solo from a two hour gig as a side man put right out of context. I think this is an important point that everyone forgets sometimes, it's just sad that some people never realise this in the first place (and it's not necessarily their fault).
22. 2 years later....
23. I got it today, which is great considering I ordered it on Friday afternoon. I haven't had a chance to play it with a band and extensively check the thing out so I will post a more informative review after I have done these things (which should be in a couple of days). All I can say now is: Bloody hell, the man wasn't joking when he said it was loud / from my glimpse the tone's pretty good too. I'll keep ye posted.
24. It's Sod's law. The gigs that you look forward to are always so so or terrible. Then you get a boring looking charity gig or the like and by the end your fan-base has doubled and you have several more bookings. To be honest, it's something that adds to the excitement of all this music business though . And to the OP, it sounds to me like your band might be more popular in that acoustic setting. But, then popularity isn't everything... at all.
