1. I bought a book today. A very good one it is, too
 2. Great looking bass. I saw a really tacky looking short scale satellite bass a few years ago in the local guitar shop, this looks to be a bit better than that one though!
 3.
No, I'm not. do I need to be? It says 'Posted image' where the photo should appear. I'm not logged into Facebook when I use Chrome but I can see the photos in that browser.
It's just that I am using facebook to host my images. I have no idea. You ought to ask one of the mods or something.
Never mind all that, where's this cab? I hope you're not going to waste the whole afternoon watching the bloody tennis, Ed..?
I cut out one piece today but I think I might have to do it again anyway, which is tres irritatant.
 4. Bass? I started my first band on bass before I even bought one! I had been playing guitar for about 6 months at the time though.
 5.
Can anyone explain to me why I can't see the photos using Firefox? I can see them when I use Chrome.
Are you logged into facebook on firefox?
 6.
Markbass super booster? It's got the VLE/VPF filters
I think discreet likes that pedal...
 7.
Buy a cab? Arf, arf!
I shouldn't have sold the old one. But we'll gloss over that for now
 8. Started on the second bit of wood today. Only managed to get one piece cut out though; spent most of the day cleaning out the shed which was caked with sawdust. I decided there was only one thing to prevent more dust:
 9.
Gun stock oil should get any tarnishing off, with the edge of a 2p
The problem with having anything to do with a gun though is that you might get arrested under "anti terror" laws.
 10. Try using some metal polish.
 11. Here is the current line up. Managed to cut out 6 pieces so far. 6! Not bad for 2 days of work... This is the fabric I am using. I ordered 2 metres but I actually got closer to 2.3 which is great news because I will be able to wrap one piece around the whole of the side 4 faces of the cab.
 12.
Just noticed the seller has shifted 1,302 sets of these!
Which is incredible for someone who can't even spell "castor"...
 13. Surely the whole point of this unit is to add colour to the sound?
 14. I got some of these for my desk recently: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006OZMWAG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 any castors with rubber tyres that are 75 mm or bigger should be suitable for anything up to a 4x10 though.
 15.
Ah. I don't have any patch bays with my rack stuff, so I didn't think about them. Though I should have done because as part of my desk I built a panel into it that has sockets and switches that connect to the inputs and outputs of my PC's Soundcard, which sits under my desk.
You can buy patch bays as a separate unit. Luckily my sound card has a breakout box. As you can see, I've got plenty of room to plug and unplug cables, but a patch bay or some kind of mixer would be something to think about if I couldn't reach the back of them for whatever reason.
 16.
Ideally you shouldn't need to get around the back of any studio gear once it's been installed as all the necessary connections ought to brought out to a patch bays at the front where they are easily accessible.
+1. You should have all the controls that need editing at the front and all the controls that are permanently plugged in at the back. If you have inputs that need unplugging that are at the back of a rack unit, then you can get patch bays for 1/4" jacks and you can run multicore cables to breakout boxes from your mixer to the microphones if required.
 17.
Well, that explains it. Though it still seems quite a faff to move a whole desk.
Well luckily it's not your desk then
 18.
I was looking at these desks with the built in racks and thought they were a good idea, and I'm planning on building a new desk at some point as I've been dragging this bloomin' gre't big Frankensteinien things around with me for years. But once you've got your rack gear bolted in, how do you get at the back of it? My rack gear is in an ABS rack next to my desk and it's a pain to turn around to get at the back of it as it is, but having to move an entire desk...? Part of my new desk design does have a rack, but it's on wheels and will roll out to allow access to the back. Also, I see no one has posted a corner desk. That's what mine is and I find it cosy and find everything easy to reach. Though my plans for a new desk will be a straight one, the full length of the room. I shall actually bolt it to the wall for extra stability. Be interesting to see some more designs for desks for more ideas.
Funny you should mention "wheels" because this one is actually on castors
 19. Why not build your own? All you need is a couple of bits of 6x2 MDF, an 8x4 sheet of plywood, cut it all out, screw it all together and you're done: This particular model has a whole 183 cm of desk space. Also it has a platform for the monitors, which doubles up as space underneath for rack gear. The "shelves" on the side are both 19" as well.
 20.
Well.... Paramount would only grant us a licence to play at Trek conventions if we paid them £10,000!... & threatened to sue us if we continued to do so without their licence!... So it ended... Jon Dalton, the main man behind the whole idea, went on to be a great Jazz guitarist... I donned the 70's pantomime gear of the previous photo!....
Jazz guitarist and legendary chemist. Was there anything the man couldn't do?
 21.
Hi Edward, Those Celestions are decent but might struggle in a ported cab especially that size, would definitely benefit from a high-pass filter before the amplifier. The port area also looks a bit overkill for their displacement capability! I suspect they were designed with compact sealed cabs in mind, either a 410 or as part of a classic 210/115 stack. Good luck with the build, if the port tuning is in the right balpark it could sound very nice at lower levels!
I was not really entirely happy with the low end response of these speakers, but I had to compromise with these. I thought these seemed similar to the speakers in my old Markbass 210HF which was pretty much the same size with double front vents though.
How about a purely vertical 4x10, 6x10 or 8x10 next?
Honestly, I have been very tempted to do something like that, put a red, yellow and 2 green speakers in it and call it "the traffic light" I think for purely practical reasons though, you would want to split it up into 2 2x10 cabs. Also not sure how fantastic a 4x10 vertical cab would sound.
 22.
Bloody hell Ed, you certainly leave a long time between builds! Good luck btw - subscribed.
Please don't subscribe- you make me feel as if I have to do something I got these today: Apologies for the dirty sofa. I only ordered them yesterday, great service! They are 16 ohm as you can see so they will be wired in parallel for 8 ohm total. Also got a 15 mm router bit to cut out the recesses for the speaker panel.
