1.
I'm sure he's said that he plays brass. So what the fuss?
just thought it was a bit weird that it should be the first thing to come up on a search considering how many expensive basses there are in the world.
2. i just type in "expensive bass" on yahoo looking for myspace backgrounds and what should it come up with? now unless i'm higly mistaken that looks like overwater#1's very sexy custom bass (and apparently something he hasn't been telling us about) just thought it seemed a bit random is all...
3.
Anybody remember this??.... It's the Status series 3000 I picked up off the bay for a reasonable ammount of brick early this year. Anyway - Mr Shuker has had it for the past few months but inally got it back today with it's nice new top. It's spalted beech - the bit of maple we chose was gouged by a faulty machine. I hated it's MFI look and the top covers the nasty dings that used to be in the body. I like the high gloss finish too. Next stage is sending the neck off to Sims to have side lights installed. Here it is today.
you've shaved your beard off!!!
4. well here's mine: 214.20 oh and if you look at the 2nd guy on the members bit (it's an animated picture) you can see the very same orange lizard thing on my avatar!
5.
Check out the T shirt !
haha i got some CBGB jeans from Tk maxx!
6. ^oh yes it used to take me a bit of a strech to tune the G on my first bass.
7. well i'm 5'8" and i have very small hands (3-1/4") and i play 5 string basses and can play 35" scale basses without much of a problem.
8. why not ask ped? haha well i know for a fact i spend a lot more time looking at more musical instruments to buy (not just basses tho to be fair) then actually playing the damn things!
9.
Where are you based? It's raining and cold over here. Feels like November!
yesterday in humberside was pretty much U2 worthy in terms of wether. Same can't be said about 2day tho.
10. gosh i even had a dream about this bass- but slightly different for some reason. Forturnatley thomann have very quick delivery times if it makes you feel any better.
11.
Thomann, for example, do one called the Harley Benton Beatbass that's an absolute steal.
i don't think it's actually possible to get anything made by any of thomanns house brands that ISN'T an absolute steal!
12. ^ever whatched grand designs? Things ALWAYS take longer than expected.
13.
So where did the first song come from - an Alien visitation?
don't know but it would have been influenced by something. Probably some sort of discovery.
14. yeah that's probably my favorite production jazz bass ever.
15. it depends really. i think orchestras and certain tribute bands can be really good. However if this applies to those really annoying pop singers/groups who get paid for a song written by some fat guy hired by their record company don't deserve to be called musicians IMO. People just haven't grasped the fact that there are at least as many good singers out there as there are good guitarrists or bassists.
This old chestnut.... I play in a covers band, and my opinion is that in a covers band you are copying the best musicians in the industry, covering many styles, and offers a real challenge, whereas in an original band you will often will stay within your comfort zones and level of ability, both have ther merits but to hear nonsense about selling souls is just plain wrong. Often bands dont cover songs........because they can't, and writing original material is easy, writing great original material is insanely hard, and incredibly rare, and I for one get very tired of hearing predicatable immature writing performed, don't get me wrong there are some excellent originals bands out there (such as sketchbeat) but they are in the minority. And, it's pretty much all already been done, and therefore originals tend to be 'influenced' by what has gone before, therefore represents a watered down cover..... RETIRES TO SAFE DISTANCE
*gets rifle out* I do know what you mean actually. There are just so many bands out there these days that being truly "original" is very difficult. However to call all original songs these days a "watered down cover" is just going a bit too far really. The fact is no1 has ever had an original thought in their life. any "original" thoughts are just a compliation of other's ideas and your own or other people's discoveries. Therefore all songs ever written at any time in history are all "watered down covers" if we go by that way of thinking.
16. ah yes well looking at it again i suppose your right. Nice rig btw.
17.
Bought this for a bargain price after a tip-off from another BC'er. 2001 US model with usual G&L spec. Did a couple of tours with a well known British soul-pop singer, so the former owner "did a gig in Europe on Monday, went to Egypt on Tuesday, then chilled on Sunday". Got a nice "played in" feel as a result. Came with original receipt & G&L certificate. No case but I got it for a shade under 350 quid. Not bad, eh?
what makes it even more amazing is that if what i'm thinking is true then it could have sold for a lot more.
18.
I'm going to put pickguard preference as terms in the marriage vows
why not just "and do you promise to embrace this man through times of good basses and the bad, through the times of many basses and the times of few and Never to criticise his personal taste in pickguards?"
19.
Im 16 too.. Since when is 11 pm late for a teenager..? Im back at about 1 the latest from gigs... Im only just starting out anyway. Been playing..what, 3-4 years? Something like that, if that. Anyway, amp+bass..no effects. Must get me an effects unit one day for some fun, but I like the tone of my bass so much, I can't be bothered with any. Overwater Progress 3. Mahogany with English Walnut front. Rosewood board. Maple wenge 5pc thru neck. Trace Elliot AH400SMX, 1048 cab, 1153 cab. Trace Elliot GP11 1x15 combo Once again, please ignore the couch..its my mums taste
3 words. spoilt. rich. w***er. Nah i'm joking- i'm sure in 1-1/2 years time i'll have all stuff like that gr8 to see ppl on here my age, i thought most of the ppl on here were 30 or 40 somethings under the thumb of their masters.
20. pretty sh*t tbh, just really the type of stuff you would tend to hear on most general rock songs. I do play a 5 string tho.
21. no but sounds gr8. Wonder how much the actal spice girls get then!
22. ^nearly, i'm in north humberside.
Well, heres a start.... on ebay....! #200137743880 Eddie, if you really get stuck I can put you in touch with a US shop that deal with Peavey and can get you pretty much anything! bob
that's still a bxp tho, i'm talking about the more expensive pro range, like the cirrus. Can you tell me about this shop then?
23. ^you know i think that is actually true, just like a dog seems to be like it's owner, a musician is like their instrument (apart from this guy i know, he's NOTHING like a cello at all!) Even tho that's not to say basses are silent, i annoy my parents more with my bass then my guitar!
24. ^but i dunno WHERE TO LOOK!!! And i'm not scared of buying abroad really.
