This is how Mr Rafferty describes his product: The HPF Pre-2 is a very handy utility tool, predominantly for Bassists. This little box is a preamp with controls including an adjustable high pass filter, independent volume control, and a phase switch. This box is a great tool for some sound related issues bass players can experience using amps or PA systems, by tuning out subharmonic thump and wool, and focusing sound in general. It has a filter cutoff adjustable from 35hz to 150hz, and runs using a standard 9v centre tip negative supply. I haven't used this, apart from seeing whether it worked or not. I took it to a gig in the summer, wrapping it in that stuff you see under cutlery trays to stop them sliding about-I use the stuff between head and cabinet. Unfortunately, the weather was so hot, it got stuck to the HPF in places, see photos. Apart from that, this is how I received it from Mr Rafferty. I live in Barnet, close to High Barnet tube, or just south of where the A1 meets the M25, in case anyone wants to come and pick it up.- 1 reply

For sale is my Genzler re/Q pedal. It has adjustable high pass and low pass filters, and a 5 band EQ. The filters and EQ can be engaged together or separately via two independent foot switches. There is also an overall output knob. The pedal is in perfect condition and comes with the box, candy etc. No velcro on this one. I live in Barnet, close to High Barnet tube and not far from where the A1 meets the M25, if you want to pick it up in person. -

So its this time of year again! No gigs booked for Nov 11th so I'll turn up. I think I'll bring my Reverend Decision P, Gallien-Krueger Fusion S 1200 and Barefaced Midget. It will be nice to see some faces from last year.

I've got several heads that have an Aux in and a headphone input, so, on those occasions I can't make any noise at all, I just plug my iPad and headphones into those. I bought a bass on a short break in Scotland recently. I practised at night in my hotel room with a GK Legacy/iPad/headphones. The GK Legacy has been my main gigging amp this year.

I was at a Spurs-Arsenal match at White hart Lane many moons ago. We were winning 2-1 but Arsenal were battering us, Van Persie, in particular, was constantly in and around our box knocking shots in. The last 10 minutes of the game were particularly painful, we were just hanging on. I called out to the people around me, "Is anybody enjoying this?". No one answered but one of the other season ticket holders, seated in front, looked around at me with a really pained look on his face. We had all paid good money to be tortured. Gigs are better, even if no one dances.

I'm an ex Spurs season ticket holder. I don't think it's possible to go to matches and also play in a band; too many gigs are on match days. There isn't enough time, to do both and also go to work. I chose to drop the football, I enjoy music more.

I recall @dclaassen mentioning in a previous thread that you had just moved from the U.S. to the back end of nowhere and were finding it very tough to find bandmates. Well it looks like you found some and if you have 20 songs down you all must have had plenty of rehearsals already. A gig booked is great but you haven't got a drummer, so unless you find one soon the gig isn't likely to happen. I can understand you might want to persevere, as its often difficult finding non-flaky bandmates, even in London, but if the others aren't on the same page as you it's going to be painful. Like you mentioned above, a frank discussion would be a very good idea.

Pick or Fingers … ongoing dilemma!!

My default is using a pick but certain songs we play sound right, to me, with fingers. I have come to the conclusion that in a covers band, playing songs written by different bands, keeping the bass tone constant isn't important. -

I will admit I had a slight preference for the Mercalli sound over the Decision P when I tried them both out in Merchant City Music. Both sounded good, but the appearance of the Decision P swung it for me. The sort of music my covers band plays suits the Decision P well too. I would imagine Reverend decided to retire the Decision and bring out the Decision P due to the Decision looking a bit odd, with two mismatched pick ups.

I bought some headphones from them a couple of weeks ago, and the 'bass basement' in the adjacent shop has a fantastic selection of basses.

This lovely amp is for sale, as I now have 4 heads and this won't get used as much as my others. Its output is 350 watts into 4 or 2.67 ohms and 175 watts into 8 ohms. It has a nice form factor, fitting neatly on top of my Barefaced One10 and it appears to be in perfect condition. It has two contours, one a mid scoop, the other a warm lower mid bump. The EQ has a semi parametric mid knob. The DI has buttons for 1) ground lift, 2) pre/post eq and 3) mic/line level There are 1/4" inputs for 'Aux in' and headphones, so it's a great little practice amp as well as a gigging amp. Currently these only seem to be available from Bass Direct, who charge £499 for a new model, so this is a bargain. I live in Barnet, close to where the M25 meets the A1, so if you live in the London area, or Herts, Essex, Beds or Bucks, I'm not too far away. More than happy to let anyone come over and try it out. Collection from Barnet or postage is possible as I have the original box and foam inserts etc. -
My missus thinks I'm not a good listener and I don't understand her feelings. If she was a bass she would know I am a good listener and I know how she feels.

I was born in Hackney borough, as were|: Sid Vicious, Charlie Harper, Marc Bolan, Paloma faith, Leona Lewis, half of Iron Maiden, Buster Bloodvessel and countless rappers and DJs that I've never heard of. The Kray twins and Dickk Turpin were also born in Hackney, so we have a pretty good selection of famous violent criminals too. Edit: Mr Turpin the highwayman, Basschat sensor doesn't like his name.
