  1. Same here. Had a very pleasant e-mail exchange with him about a year ago so it seems away from the norm there's been nothing since I last mentioned.
  2. No idea if this has been said before but I'm in the Jazz camp because it can do a P "impersonation" whereas a P can't impersonate a J. I like both 60s and 70s pickup spacing but lean towards the 60s for more authority in a band mix. I'll take either however.
  3. I'm still waiting for a response to an e-mail from the end of January this year so good question...
  4. I've lost count of the amount of bassists I would never have heard of if it weren't for their signature bass models. Roger was definitely one of them even though I knew of Pink Floyd since I was quite young.
  5. Congratulations!!! These are REALLY nice creations. I've tried one in both The Bass Gallery and Bass Direct and was very impressed 😊
  6. You may be pleasantly surprised. I'm specifically referring to Sunbeams.
  7. Have you tried DR rounds at all?
  8. That was me.Totally given up on them now. Regardless of brand (including TI Jazz Flats) it sounded like a thick blanket was placed over my cabinets compared to using rounds. I can't see the appeal but it's all personal.
  9. Always thought these were 17.5mm? I've had 2 Ray35's.
  10. They currently have another one at the same £749 in the same finish. They also have one in the charcoal grey finish @ £1,199.00 so I'm a bit suspicious of the price difference based on what you went through.Apparently it will be shipped to the customer directly from Cort so it's not even available to try in a showroom first. I tried one roughly when you started this thread last year and it was packed with manufacturing defects.
  11. I can accept that. I've seen jazz clips of his pre-Cream days and thought he played well in them. Just personal taste I guess.
  12. I think Ginger was under-rated. He had incredible (to me) jazz chops.
  13. Animal. That made me laugh out loud 😂
  14. I would say he was better known as a pop singer in the 80s than a 60s/70s jazz guitarist. Chart topper was meant tongue-in-cheek but he did very well in his "second" career and made more money than ever. Actually maybe not so tongue-in-cheek,back in the 80s he had several top 10 hits in the US charts and UK charts including two number ones in the US R&B chart. So yes, 80's chart topper who sang.
  15. I think this depends on the age-range of the individuals asked. Similar is George Benson. How many people know the jazz guitar giant he is versus the 80s pop singing chart topper?
  16. I'm only recently learning how true this is...
  17. Had no idea Phil Collins was so jazzy/funky on drums until I started listening to Brand X.So sad to see his current physical condition.
  18. What year are we talking?
  19. Goodness me they almost look good enough to eat🤤
  20. Let's see how fast it shifts at this price. No one's taking the bait yet which surprises me 🙂
  21. Nice bass. Yes unlike their 4-string counterparts the necks on the Fender 5-string P and J bass have identical dimensions.
  22. Saw a Sire Vintage V7 five string on Ebay newly listed this morning. This evening it's now in my living room.I've done it yet again-he was a guitarist who bought it two weeks ago and when he does play bass just wants a passive 4 string P bass,he REALLY priced it to sell quickly. So in short he had zero problems selling his 5 string bass.
  23. As a die-hard 5 string player I admit to enjoying seeing 5ers in classified ads that 4 stringers failed to get the hang of only because they sometimes can't get rid of fast enough and will sell below market value. I've nabbed a few along the way like that. One man's poison...
  24. This. Advertise a 4 string at the "wrong" price and see.
  25. Okay. You said the bass was less than a month old which drove the question from me. Thanks. Also do you know the weight at all? I tried one in Guitar Guitar in this finish and it felt like it weighed about 11 pounds or so.
