Interesting, @Cat Burrito- good point about cost of these vs cables. I guess if you’re happy to tour them then they’re good enough for me in the local spit and sawdust! At that price I think I’ll get some… if nothing else, be easier to walk and play whilst soundchecking - currently only manage 15’ in front of the PA when I’m mixing coz that’s when the cable runs out!

Solid choice of comp and octaves there too. C4 does good octave but boss does really good octave.
Also, the finish on the BC-1X. When I finally get the money for a custom bass, that’s in the running for paint job!

Love the purple lighting wash!!

It’s amazing!!!

And depending on your bridge, you may need to file the string hole (technical term!) to accommodate the thicker string. Wee round needle file job.

I hope @Quatschmacherdoesn’t mind me jumping in… https://manuals.morningstar.io/mc-midi-controller/fractal-audio
Has a level of integration with the fractal… not a fractal user myself but I can tell you that the MC range is brilliant. If you can think it, chances are it can do it. And the support and firmware update cycle is unparalleled.
Suggest a read of https://forum.morningstar.io/c/other-midi-devices/fractal-audio/23 for more!

I use the Peterson Strobostomp HD and frankly, apart from the old reference Conn and Peterson, it's the finest tuner I've experienced. Great for super-accurate set-up work, and as a general board or floor tuner. Slow is certainly close enough in most (all for me) gigging circumstances and the tuner is really easy to use in real world settings. Visibility is excellent in both bright and dark environments. A very robust unit too. I'll be using mine later for a set-up job - the Peterson excels for pretty much anything.
Excellent write up, spot on. That’s another big plus with the Peterson… it’s GREAT for setting intonation, whether you fret or harmonic to set it- 3

A Boss TU-2 or 3 is a solid choice. Buffers you on the way in and the DC outlet is handy too. Plenty tuning options and they stay set when you’ve set them. The WazaCraft version if you’re buffer adverse for any reason.
That said the Peterson StroboStomp HD has to be the epitome of floor tuners. Bright, more tuning modes than you’ll ever need, your choice of buffered, bypass or always on, DC power outlet. I only have a couple of presets in (standard and dropped) but if you or anyone in the house plays anything stringed, this is the fella to get.

My advice: buy a good solderless patch cable kit sooner rather than later. Off the shelf ones will not fit at some point.

Never come up second hand. Is the best. If in doubt, friends, buy it.

Oh well that’s perfect!! I’ll be back after tonight’s winning euromillions

That’s an awful lot of bass. I’d love a short 5er of this quality. Superb write up and photos here too. GLWTS!

Another change up from me. Swiss army essentials board that can (and will, eventually) link up to the Schmidt Array studio board with everything else on it. The plan is to acquire a Morningstar ML10X for the Schmidt Array, as I already own the MC8. That will link up with this board via the magic of TRS/MIDI giving me total preset/patch control of every pedal on each board.
Bass > Morningstar ML5 > HX Stomp (with Bright Onion Aux switch) > Khan VTDI
ML5 Loops are as follows:
A > Peterson StrobostompHD
B > Aguilar Octamizer
C > Origin Cali76 (running at 18v)
D > Hamstead Subspace
E > TRS splitter cable
MIDI Chain - Out of HX Stomp > IN of ML5 (Eventually the MIDI IN of HX Stomp will connect to the MOD Patchbay - More on that later)
The MOD Patchbay on the Rockboard is where my dual board fantasy comes to life 🤣i All are TRS inputs/outputs so this makes a lot of what I want to do possible, with just a few cables.
A - Input from Bass to the ML5
B - Will eventually run a TRS to 5 Pin MIDI cable to the MIDI In of the Stomp. There will be a corresponding cable on the Schmidt too, which is connected to the MC8/ML10X combo so when the boards are connected with a TRS cable, it will allow the MC8 to talk to the ML10X, ML5 and HX Stomp, yet when disconnected the Stomp will just control the ML5.
C - Haven't decided what this will be used for yet
D - Connects to the TRS Splitter cable in Loop E of the ML5. Another of these on the TRS Patchbay on the Schmidt Array will allow me to patch the whole Schmidt Array board into loop E of the ML5 with a single TRS cable.
E - 1/4" Out from the Khan VTDI to Amp
XLR - DI Out from the Khan VTDI to Mixing Desk
Here is a pic of the underside for good measure. Power is split at the MOD, one goes direct to the Khan, the other to the Generator. Distributor is powering the Temple Audio USB Adaptor, the GigRig Doubler for the Cali76, the Isolator and the Stomp (just awaiting a GigRig Mr Universe to power the Stomp, and we're good to go!) and the Isolator is powering the Subspace, Octamizer, ML5 and StrobostompHD. Distributor also has a spare 9v out hanging loose (seen hanging from the bottom of the board in this pic) which charges my Bluetooth footswitch for my iPad.
This is SO well thought out. Hats off, here. Superb work in rinsing the available space there. Patchbay with TRS for midi and/or audio is genius!
Can’t imagine a world without Morningstar products… I love my MC6

That’s compact! Excellent work. And the GigRig range is superb… a second hand isolator saved me buying a new PSU given my current one has two 500mA outs

Nah, s’gotta be a 50/50 split for me. It’s got to be enjoyable or I’ll sell the gear and stay at home!

Greyhound in Sutton Bridge tonight with 4 Play. See, there’s four people in the band and we play music. Clever! (Not my idea it was like that when I got here nothing to do with me officer).
Starting to gel nicely. Now need to work on removing the drummer from BVs and getting guitarist to leave more of them to me. And need to sort his pedal board. About 3 drive pedals, badly chosen delay settings, and a mix of digital and analogue on a non-isolated PSU. Ground hum, anyone?
Very Fen, but the crowd were up for it, good sound, we played well! Nothing til 22 October now sadly.
ALL FINGER AND WRIST PARTS SURVIVED WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR. HALLE fudging LUJAH 😁

If the 160 approach is for you, then the Keeley’s got to be in the running. Silent and tone neutral. For me, I want to compress cleanly, and I want the pedal to sort attack and release for me. Keeley does that brilliantly.

It’s mental is it?! And SUCH a diff compared to equivalent rounds. I was toying with the Dunlop flats on my last purchase til I clocked the price!

Really long gigs seem to be a pretty standard US thing.
I played on the USAF bases in Spain in the late '70's and the resident band were contracted to play 6 nights a week (in the same venue)
Mon - Fri it was 5 x 45 minute slots per night......
And then, as a special treat on the Saturday night, it was 6 x 45 minute slots............
I really don't know how my fingers survived - must have played about 25,000 notes each night ................
Bloody hell! Good work fella. That’s some serious playing time. 3 1/2 hours on Saturday left me unable to use my middle finger right hand until today!

I can't be the only one who's first thought was 'not even toilet break'? 😀
Lol. I had to cut While My Guitar short on Saturday coz if I didn’t go RIGHT THEN I’d be ringing the wife for emergency trousers. At my age: always go just before you start playing. Or leave the house. Or leave anywhere that has a toilet.
And don’t forget to put your ear plugs in and take your wrist supports off.
Rock n Roll!!

Green Dragon at Ryhall near Stamford tonight. No keys tonight. Played really well, I got an EXCELLENT stage and foh mix and the landlord was delighted. Paid, fed and watered. 30 min drive. Long though: arrived 15:30 left 23:30.
We’re their resident band now. Lots of dancing and singing along. Excellent night!
Fingertips aced it for once. Restrung dimension sounded smashing.
Bad right middle finger joint pain for the first time. Like, really bad. Don’t recall bashing it - sadly suspect this is the beginning of arthritis forcing use of pick more…

Killer basses. Used to own one. Traded it. I’m an idiot. The sound these produce is delicious!

Ah! Always interesting finding out which BC users have had yer bass before you!
I got both of these from @Fettsman. These two aren’t going anywhere, ever. Love them!
How was your gig last night?

I’ve ordered a Lekato - about £45. Worth a chuckle at that price!
