@Merton - brilliant!! Good work… I checked out her stuff when you joined up, she’s great! Nice gig to land

Is the string spacing really 10.8mm as the specs state?
-
That is superb. @SurroundedByManatees - you have brought many many beautiful things to these pages but that’s gotta be top 5! Rare as hen’s teeth I would guess…

@Bassman68 has called it right here, I think. Something lovely about the big footprint EHX muffs, and that one’s a killer! Why did I sell mine?!?

Bought a Bass Station DI box from Andy. All good, no issues, great piece of kit! Thanks!!! Colin

I’m just going to hijack so I can kick myself in public. Idiot. LOOK at it. And the sound!! Suhr pups and preamp.

I saw a couple of these in Andertons on Wednesday - they look really good in the flesh; they remind me of the old Fender USA Deluxe basses
Good call. I get why Fender dropped downsized bodies after the old 90s Deluxe series (coz most folks just want vanilla P or J if it’s got a Fender logo) but they were sweet. I traded this one, because I’m a d*** - let’s compare!

It's been nearly a month since I posted a pic of my board and I've not thought about buying another pedal once. I think this may be a new record!
I think we may need moderators to weigh in here. This is suspect behaviour at best, really!

Today at a festival in Dorset, gagglefest (due to it being the gaggle of geese).
Did an hour between 2-3pm, when it threatened to rain but didn't so people could sit out. it was a bit early, had some dancing but not as much as you would get later.
Were told that the venue were laying on a PA with a sort of implication it was a PA company, but turned out that one of the other bands from later were putting on the PA, and it was considerably smaller than ours! Last year a group laid the PA on and it was massive. this time there wasn't any micing for the drums and no monitoring, so couldn't hear anything. Sort of sounded ok out the front with no real drumming. Still, I didn't have to worry about it and it was nice being like the guitarist for once and just turning up with an amp, pedalboard and bass.
But my bass was pretty clear, so that was nice!
Still, got to love a full paying 1 hour gig in the afternoon where you can get home before the shops shut and have food at home!
That’s a Bongo into an Ashdown into a Vanderkley, right? Yeah, that’ll cut through the mix. Love that red!

It was ok! First one since 17th June with 4 Play (🙈). Black Bull, Kirton. Landlady wants us back next year. Crowd seemed happy enough, but some rust showing in places - the guitarist doesn’t play in other bands whereas the rest of us are out most weekends with other bands and it shows. But overall, ok! Some sort of pub slash caravan site next. Hellooooo Holbeach Hurn! Beer and nuts time now 👏🏻

Niche, but: any Source Audio One series + Neuro hub users looking for shorter TRRS cables, these 15cm jobbies work fine: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232137198256?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KdbkegI-THW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=XkJqNoezT9i&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Not as flexible as the SA supplied cables, but waaaaay shorter!

Pedal power is a good shout: any pedals in the mix, and are they all powered with isolated outlets? I was fine using daisy chained power until one day I wasn’t!
Suggestion for a socket tester is great advice. I always check sockets somewhere new, and I ALWAYS use my own plug in breakers.

I’ve said before but if money/board space no option then I’d compress at the front (when needed) and limit at the end (all the time). In the absence of that I’m very much end of chain for comp: for me I use it around 4:1 on the worst peaks and that helps both dry and effected sounds. If your effects chuck out a lot of low freqs, a high pass filter can really help save speakers and give FOH a more palatable signal!

Ah thanks! I need to visit b&q anyway, I’ll pick up a bottle!
-
Yeah… I’ll give that a go, thanks! I think avoiding bleach for sure. Some of the gunk is like 10 year old historic nastiness. Plus would rather use one rag than many disposable wipes. But worth a shot, ta!

My cables need a clean. All of the stuff I can find on the web is for cable jointing and/or is like £15 postage. Anyone got any recommends for something from like screwfix, B&Q? I’ve got some “sticky stuff remover” that I’ll try on an old cable, but that’s not a good long term test ie will it make the pvc go brittle over time?
Thanks!

I customised my EHX Triple switch! 🤩

Yeah, they’re great. Quality stuff, fast. Been using their speakon cables for like 12 years now without a hint of an issue. Great company, and the ability to get custom stuff made is ace

They ARE clicky, aren’t they? I use a Dunlop Tortex triangle 1mm on a few songs, because either I want that sound or it’s too blessed fast for my little fingers to keep up! 😊

And complete! The aim was things I press on the bottom, things that I don't press on the top. Major overhaul following removal of delay and introduction of Boss WL-50. The PSUs and Hub stayed on but everything else off, start again. Harley Benton solderless patch cables apart from the long tuner > C4 run, which is Lava (because they're great for sneaking cables up the side of pedals!). Gets it's first outing (alongside two other wireless units!) on Saturday. In emergency, a right-angle jack will fit in the Boss Input socket to bypass the wireless (once the 3 way switch has been temporarily nudged aside). Omniport 2 on the MC6MkII is available for my expression pedal if I ever actually use it 😄

Bought a Boss wireless from Andy, excellent quick service, no issues, highly recommended! Thanks!!

Some nice gigs here, folks. Clutching at Straws did Rock on the Rec festival Stamford earlier today. A lively line up of songs… we started with Mamma Mia 😂. New “floor amp” setup for our singer/rhythm guitarist and mind on other things (plus the usual “you get what you get” line check monitor mix) meant it wasn’t popping, but we played well and I mixed up the 20 year old set list for an hour of bangers that the boys had to think about a bit for once.
If previous band was anything to go by, there was absolutely no bass guitar in the foh mix! Hey ho.

Excellent work here. These Rockboards are so nicely designed… much more space underneath than my Pedaltrain JR. I’d be able to sling my HPF under one of those and fit an EQ in its place on top of the board. Hmmm
