  1. My cables need a clean. All of the stuff I can find on the web is for cable jointing and/or is like £15 postage. Anyone got any recommends for something from like screwfix, B&Q? I’ve got some “sticky stuff remover” that I’ll try on an old cable, but that’s not a good long term test ie will it make the pvc go brittle over time?

    Thanks!

  2. And complete! The aim was things I press on the bottom, things that I don't press on the top. Major overhaul following removal of delay and introduction of Boss WL-50. The PSUs and Hub stayed on but everything else off, start again. Harley Benton solderless patch cables apart from the long tuner > C4 run, which is Lava (because they're great for sneaking cables up the side of pedals!). Gets it's first outing (alongside two other wireless units!) on Saturday. In emergency, a right-angle jack will fit in the Boss Input socket to bypass the wireless (once the 3 way switch has been temporarily nudged aside). Omniport 2 on the MC6MkII is available for my expression pedal if I ever actually use it 😄

  3. Some nice gigs here, folks. Clutching at Straws did Rock on the Rec festival Stamford earlier today. A lively line up of songs… we started with Mamma Mia 😂. New “floor amp” setup for our singer/rhythm guitarist and mind on other things (plus the usual “you get what you get” line check monitor mix) meant it wasn’t popping, but we played well and I mixed up the 20 year old set list for an hour of bangers that the boys had to think about a bit for once.

If previous band was anything to go by, there was absolutely no bass guitar in the foh mix! Hey ho.

  4. Excellent days gigs with Clutching at Straws. Morning was cabling up for the evening gig. Then a set up in baking full sun at a community event in Elsea Park, Bourne. Really, really hot. Gallons of water and sunblock. Then charged off to Langtoft Lakes for the private party that I cabled up earlier. Superb gig, dance floor rammed. Left the house at 10:00, home at 00:45 for a much needed shower. Followed by hoovering everything out.. crawling with ants from the evening’s marquee gig. Three 18” fans on stage. Cool as cucumber. And fed and watered at both gigs

Fresh strings on the Dimension. Awesome, awesome bass sound. Really cranked the GK today, which they really like. Boost knob for the win!!

  5. Meh. After the last one with 4 Play (I know, I know) last night’s (Greyhound pub, Sutton Bridge) was so so. Singer man still not sure on arrangements and introduced his acoustic. Too many variables. Also: we play for like 45 mins and take a break… wha? No no no, just keep playing! Plus sides: I mixed the guitar and associated BVs at a sensible level rather than the +245dB usually favoured by said stringed instrument wielder. Sounds, erm, better that way!

Three weekends in a row coming up with Clutching at Straws, the big boy cover band. Stocked full of musicians and able to make ANY room dance… two gigs next Saturday, following weekend Sunday afternoon at Rock on the Rec Stamford (45 min beer festival sets are what we were born to do. Start with Mamma Mia* and turn the wick up from there. Lights, PA, plug in and play. Few will emerge unscathed) and a wedding the following Saturday at our mate Malcolm’s personal pub. Excellent. Can’t freaking wait.

As usual this weekend Fender Dimension > GK > Barefaced for the win.  Betty needs new strings for her busy month ahead.

    * worth noting that Timbo and I Agnetha and Frida in the original key. We’re male, and in our 50s and late 40s respectively. I give myself an attaboy every time we play it.

  6. I WISH my bands played to a click. Rhythm guitarist in both bands not solid, drummer in one of the bands struggles to start a song at same tempo on diff nights and ALWAYS speeds up during guitar solos. Every. Single. One.

I used to play in a band where both guitarist used these. They sound incredible and have some serious power output.

Agreed… our guitarist has not long picked one up second hand. It’s quite astonishing for the size! Runs into a 1x12” passive black star cab and has an out for passing to mixer / local mon. Such a neat setup.

    EDIT: refers to the BluGuitar…
