The Bass Show UK - Cranmore Park, Birmingham - March 1st and 2nd
Richard R replied to Goliath_FX's topic in Events
A few pics. @Manton Customs Double neck Uke! Ortega stand. Idiot playing bass badly on the ACG stand. Yolanda Charles making it look easy on the Sandberg stand. Steve Lawson - a very different sound. 20250301_140524.mp4 Unusual bass at Absolute Music. Really nice to play, yours for under £2k. This wasn't even close to being the most expensive guitar at the show. (I didn't see it, but there was one at £85k!) -

I had a blast! Good to meet up with @AndyTravis and @walshy and confirm I don't need an expensive Fender in my life. Also meeting @jazzyvee by the Eich stand (try the bass boards, very strange but I can see why people use them). Hello to @Wombat too. Lovely basses at @Manton Customs and ACG, I can't remember the very band we were talking about @skelf (the exceedingly drunken one!) Popped by @Goliath_FX's stand, bass pedals in Warhammer models - wow! Plus lots of stuff to try and hearing Steve Lawson and Yolande Charles play live. I bought a set of strings, Yolanda 's CD, and a pint of Guinness zero. Happy day. -

Fortunately I chose not to remember- but I am pretty sure the guitarist who joined us at the table had all his stereotypes about bass players thoroughly reinforced! 🤓 -

Looking back over this thread we should be able to meet quite a few people. I think the BC members on exhibitor stands are, in no particular order: @Goliath_FX - GoliathFX @Vishyyy - Focusrite on Saturday @skelf - ACG @Manton Customs - Manton Customs @Machines , @Bass Direct - Bass Direct @AndyTravis, @walshy - Vintage Bass Room Anyone I've missed? Those intending to go: @jazzyvee, @Kev, @Rich, @ped, @AlexDelores, @Stub Mandrel, @Jackroadkill, @Wombat, @FJ1200, @Bilbothebassplayer, @tauzero, @Beedster, @tonyf, @Richard R For those visiting on Saturday I suggest meeting up by the stage when Steve Lawson is on at about 2pm. Those on Sunday - sort yourselves out by the GoliathFX stand. 😁 Hope to see some of you there. -

I'm getting there about 12:30 - 1pm ish. If anyone wants to avoid me then I'm easy to spot as I'll be wearing the t-shirt that's my avatar. -

I've lost the editable version of the lanyard files, but just in case anyone does want the BC badges I did a couple of years back these are the images. -
Another band with the same name?

Good grief - that takes me back! Where I lived as a youngster there were two parallel roads Alexander Road and Douglas Road, named after the builder's sons. There was dog poo on both of them (as everywhere else on the 70s), but Douglas Road had a lot more white dog poo than Alexander and I never knew why. Just avoid them both! -
A Tupperware food box (or Uppercase food box as my phone prefers to type) might not be strong enough, but would look rather cool if it were transparent.

But we'll laugh at you struggling back across the park carrying two basses, an amp, and a collapsible music stand "because they were on such good show offer prices." -
That is fabulous!

(my emphasis) Also - are you a time traveller?

Is there an NBD post?

Playing one of @skelf's basses was a real highlight of my visit a couple of years ago. Having heard so much praise for ACG basses on this forum it was great to finally play one. And they are very, very, nice! No affiliation, just a crappy bass player with happy memories. -
How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Richard R replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Just back from sitting in on band practice for this Sunday's service in church. I'm not playing then, but it's been a hard week and I really didn't feel like sitting at home alone this evening as the wife is away. Several new songs, the drummer feeling rough, I kept stepping on the tuner mute button, everyone made mistakes and it was all a bit chaotic. However lots of laughter, lots of energy - we got most of the way there in the end and it blew the cobwebs away. Hooray for live music! -
Updated P2. Well done for a new Personal Best @MrDinsdale.
