  1. Not with this band - I am very definitely the least experienced and capable. All the others could wing it by ear.
  2. Can we pin this thread? Or a pinned post in Wanted and Marketplace with the list of red flags to watch out for?
  3. I'm playing in an ecumenical service next Wednesday. Yesterday afternoon, ie a week in advance, I had a message listing the songs, the keys, and the CCLI numbers. Woohoo! No excuse for messing up now.
  4. Welcome aboard! From just outside of Birmingham, England!
  5. You are very welcome to borrow my #2, but I suspect a 5 string bass currently residing in Birmingham with a partially jammed truss rod isn't going to be much good to you. PM me if it is.
  6. I agree it's a T2 fail, but you don't have to sign up for the T2 hardcore/hairshirt version. I'm not. I'd be interested to know how you get on with the lesssons, I could do with some technique lessons and there are more tutors. on-line in person these days.
  7. Oh yes, but half the fun is arguing the edge cases. Especially when that distracts from (whispers... actually practicing...)
  8. How about borrowing something (in this case a drum pad) on long-term loan? I think it's a fail as I don't actually need it...
  9. That's only my view, you can appeal to @neepheid. And itโ€™s only tier 2, which is the stricter version.
  10. It was at the first Bass Bash I attended, so I didn't know who anyone was. I wondered if it was yours when I posted that photo and read the name again. ๐Ÿ˜€ I would hate to be the poor sod who had to transcribe from the recordings!
  11. VSTs are in the signal chain, like a new synth, pedal or hardware compressor would be. Probably a tier 2 fail? A friend of mine just updated his laptop and was moaning about the length of time Apple took to register all his sample libraries and suites on the new hardware. He did concede there was over $2000 worth of them. That's definitely virtual GAS. (vGAS?)
  12. Ah well, in that case you're just "taking delivery" this year and as the commercial arrangements were made last year, it's within the rules. We can sort out my fee later.
  13. Endorsements have certainly never cropped up before. I am inclined to think that an ongoing endoresment is sort of a business relationship, and should be outside of the scope. But setting up a new one as a way of getting round the rules is clearly dodgy. But so brilliant I would let it pass. ๐Ÿ˜
  14. So my lunchtime has gone down the tubes and I am still trying to pick a best set of three songs in a row from nearly 50 years of collecting records. Curse you @Rich!
  15. Welcome aboard! I like Greenwich, one of the nicer parts of that there London ๐Ÿ˜€
  16. A surprisingly useful bit of kit. We have one at church. Not because we play a lot of doom metal but because it's a cheap active DI for passive basses, does a decent range of amp simulation, and withstands being kicked and trodden on! You should get some drive no problem, especially if you dig in and up the trebble on the bass.
  17. So of course I'm being nosy - trying to read the CCLI number to identify which "Praise" that is and looking at the personal monitor software to see which mixing desk you have. ๐Ÿ˜
  18. Oh - and if you're starting late (like I did) don't beat yourself up about progress. Brain and fingers take a while to get warmed up, but they will.
  19. Welcome aboard! Hope you're wife is better. Wives, husbands and family are far more important than playing bass. Just don't ever let on to them. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. Thank goodness this isn't a 5 string! Have a bump - great basses. ๐Ÿ‘
  21. Has to be Welsh silver. Check with @Owen as I'm sure that's his secret.
  22. I won a copy of "Yes - Complete Deluxe Edition" at a Bass Bash raffle. It has this on the title page: I can follow some of the dots. But four odd time signatures in five bars is hard to count:
