1. Will is top guy! Traded his stu Hamm for my 76'p Took time out of his schedule to show me round his rather well appointed studio, with a worrying amount of Beatles memorabilia! Also makes a grand brew! Could have talked for hours. The boy can play too!!! Cheers will, and I got my eye on that 78' mate. Stay in touch. R.
2. oh right.Well done! was this done thru bc? the only reason i ask us that i had a few messages back and forth with the seller pretty much as soon as the instrument came up, and all was going well, then all went quiet after I said i would transfer the money over!
3. I generally agree! My P-lyte only has a headstock ding, and one on the body, and that was done by my friend!! I had the pleasure of playing Bryan from Eagles of death metals' bass, it literally had no paint front or back. Big belt buckle, stiff plectrum and studded bracelets. It looked awesome!!
4. Properly worn out, to the point of retirement.... 2 for me, 1- Columbus jazz that I took the frets out, and ground the neck and pick up covers away. Not worth doing up or selling so it was retired. 2 - fender precision light special edition. Many many gigs. Played so much that I ground the mahogany body away around the pick ups, and the pickups rattle loose after a short amount of time playing. Frets played smooth. Gone thru a number of jack barrels too. Too much sentimental value to sell. Too knackered to gig!!! (Still the best neck I ever played)
5.
...or how about a Lakland 55-02 or 55-94? I've also got a DJ5 and the neck seems to sit 'out' more than the other two, although they're all 35" scale. As far as being a bass tart, you've got a long way to go! I have a file on my computer where I list all the basses I've owned over the years. I've been playing a very long time, but it's currently up to 89....
how many amps?
6. There also seems to be a little confusion about mics too, the sennheiser 602 and shure beta52 are NOT large diaphragm mics, the just have an extended low frequency response due to the electronics having a shifted high pass filter frequency. Diaphragm diameter does not correlate to frequency response. A shure beta98 isv a tiny mic. but has a huge low end when in close proximity to a sound source The Heil PR48 is large diaphragm dynamic kick/bass mic (and a good one too).
7. GAH!!!!!!!!!! i need mine back QUICK got a studio session very soon.....
8. Good tip! I'll check him out. I'm pretty good with an iron and an oscilliscope , but i dont have the tools to work on double mounted PCB's Anyone else got any tips?
9. Or know a really good tech in leeds/West Yorkshire area?
10. Anyone got experience of getting one of these big buggers repaired? i've been waiting for parts for over a year!!
11. Trade for a road worn "it won't happen again"? And i'll throw in a promise to even it out?
12. Also, fwiw at a big gig 3 or 4 bass channels are common bass di pre:- (straight from the bass/clean) bass di post:-(after fx and tweaking, quite often out the head, but not always.) bass mic (on the cab) bass mic 2 (on a second cab if 2 amps are used, one clean and one dirty for example)
