3. He's the reason I thought about taking up bass and for wanting to improve. I saw him and level 42 in concert last year in Carlisle and it was a brilliant concert. I'm looking for their next tour. Pity he can't be persuaded to come to Bass Day in Manchester later this month and show his stuff.
4. My lot get together only once or twice a month due to work commitments. It's driving me mad. Pete

13.
anybody bought one?
I've just bought the V1004SP with the spalted maple top from redey's Music for £289 and it looks great. The only issue for me is that I want to adjust the height of the pick ups and they've been screwed down so hard that it was difficult to loosen them off. Even when I managed to loosten them the pick ups don'd want to come any higher. I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow to see if they can do anything with it as I don't want to be too heavy handed. I based my decision on the review and the fact that I alrady have a second hand Vintage V940 that i bought of another chatter and thak on is a great bass. I hope the shop can sort the pick ups as I really love it.
14. Hi Paul, Welcome to the forum. I can strongly recommend that everyone looks at Paul's basses. They are superbly built and sound great. I've seen Paul play them in his band and when he teaches me.
15. Nice looking bass. I love the look of natural wood Where did you get it? Mad Monk? Promenade?
16. Are Spector linked in any way to Warwick. The body and head look like a Warwick Streamer and the control lay looks similar too?

hello

I started 2 years ago. My wife thinks its a late mid life crisis but I love it. Welcome to the forum.
18. I ordered one of these recently based on the review in BGM. It was a great looking bass and sounded good but I had to send it back as I could not cope with the curved pick ups. I asked a friend who's been playing a lot longer than me to try it and he also found them difficult to use. It's OK for slapping but for finger style it was really difficult to play the e string. There was a large gap between the string and the pick that made playing very awkward and no where to rest your thumb confortably. I actually prefered my old second hand vintage 940, Lesson learned: 1. read reviews on Bass chat, I saw this issue commented on after I ordered it. 2. Don't order mail order, go and try it in a shop to be shure you're happy with it. 3. Don't always trust reviews in BGM. I can't believe they didn't pick up on this fundamental design problem.
19.
Describe the sound. Come on... you can't tease us like this!
I'm not really sure how to describe the sound. I've hear the five string played a number of different ways for different types of music and depending how Paul played it ict can sound like its heavily distorted for rock pieces and yet makes a really great slap sound. I've also heard him play the fretless bass he made when he was showing me a Jacko Pastorius piece and this sounds different agin. What I can say is he chooses nice wood and puts them together really well. Promenade music in Morcame is currently sellng one of Pauls basses for about £1400 and I get the impression they wouldn't even stock it if it was poor quality. They had one on their stand at the last Bass Day in Manchester. Not sure if that helps but it is worth waiting for the propper photos.
20.
well its quite a contrast to other guitars wow I'm funny
It's the only photo on the site at the minute but it gives the impression of his basses. The other photos will look better
21. Hi My bass teacher makes his own guitars and will soon have his web site up and running. This is a screen shot of the front page where you can just make out the bas he play in his band. The site is weel worth looking at and I'll add some shots of his other basses. And in case anyone wonders, I'm not being asked to do this. His basses look and sound great. The site is www.eversonguitars.com it's not live yet but will be in a few weeks Enjoy
