    They are still selling the CV Squiers at the old price, with free postage. That's quite a good deal! Thomann's have them even slightly cheaper, also with the free delivery.

    Just wondering how members store their basses. I normally tend to have a hard case for every one I've owned - just makes it easier for storage and portability. Always worries me about leaving things on stands - I heard years ago that strings last longer if not left in the open! I've always been concerned about leaving a bass flat on the floor without neck support that it won't help either.....hence I've always kept every one in a case! What about everyone else?

    They seem pretty good. Thomann was good for drum bits, but I have read some terrible stuff online about their guitar distribution and service. Woddbrass prices are very competitive, and in some occasions, a good deal cheaper than the UK.

    After a heads-up on BC, I checked out the Woodbrass.com site. Some good prices there....shipped from Europe with free postage over a certain amount. Has anybody here ordered from them? I bought some Drum stuff from Thomann in Germany some years back, and they were superb. Any experienced good/bad with Woodbrass?

    [size=2][b]I have decided to sell my 2010 Rickenbacker 4003. Colour is Mapleglow - being a recent Ric, it comes with the walnut wings on the headstock - it looks amazing in the flesh. Mapleglow is a constant colour in Ric production - this will always look good! The condition can only described as immaculate. No marks, blemishes or dents. Bass has the vintage tone selector. Bass has only left the house to be professionally set-up by Martin Sims at his Kent workshop. Aside from that, it has been re-strung with D'addaro Chromes (flatwounds). It's a January 2010 build, and has not been modified in any way at all. Pickup cover is present and correct, and the action after Martin's set-up is about as low as a Ric will go. It plays as good as it looks. Comes with unused Ric case, and un-opened polishing cloth (I used another to wipe down after play). Since I took these pictures, I did remove the little 'Made In America' sticker from the pickguard, and the 'vintage tone selector' one above the switch. Thought I'd better mention this, but I didn't want them leaving sticky marks if left on there too long! [u]Price is £1400 - these are still going for £1700+ new - and this is a seriously amazing example, hardly played.[/u] Collection preferred - item is located in Tenterden, Kent.     Anybody noticed how the prices of basses have shot up in the last few days? I know there was the VAT increase, but they seem to have gone up again across the board. Only noticed as last week I paid £289 for my CV P - by mid-last week they were around £296 with the VAT increase, but now everywhere is charging £319 for the range! Looked at some other sites, and all prices seem to have gone up on many basses.....happy new year??!!

    That's great, I love JA and TMV. Like the comment beneath the pic, full marks to JA going for a bass that feels right, regardless of cost. He's a great bassist, so that's pretty cool if it's right for him too!

    I was looking for a backup bass and looked for a HW-P...that was the budget. Plumped for a CV-P, and have been amazed. You can buy 2 CV basses for the price of a Highway....something I would seriously consider! CV has blown me away....I haven't played an H1, but for me, my CV is enough for what I do....and there's enough left in the budget for a CV Jazz.....!!!

    I'm loving my CV-P - never thought I'd be so happy with it. Who'd have thought that in 2011, with the numerous bass manufacturers out there of many prices, hot topic on BC would be the new Squiers??? Bit like Skoda syndrome, isn't it?

    Many thanks to all on my other post who helped me to go for a new CV P. Seeing as I only own Rickenbackers otherwise, I was a bit worried about going for a bass priced so differently.....! It arrived yesterday - and TBH, I'm blown away. My previous Precision experience was of the upgraded MIM's, which I really couldn't get on with. I found the MIM a bit too lightweight...it just felt quite unsubstantial and flimsy. What a difference - it actually feels light years ahead of the MIM. The build is excellent - factory set-up is also spot on. No wobbly bits or issues at all. Sound-wise, I'm amazed. Through my Markbass stuff, the tone is intense. What I really like is the whole JJ Burnel tone - in a couple of adjustments to amp settings, it was there. So a bass that costs 1/6 the price of a Ric - I didn't think I would like it so much. I know what I read on here about how good the CV range is, and it really is! Having a Squier headstock doesn't bother me at all when a bass is this good. Got to resist any more........at moment! I've taken a few shots - I know they're cloned, but as they say, no pic, no bass!

    Last week Soundslive had the black/maple for £379. I looked again yesterday, and the price has actually gone up a fair bit. Then again, the CV-P was £271, and that's now at £319. Seems a bit more than the VAT.....!!

    Ordered a Fiesta Red CV P yesterday, expecting it tomorrow. I'll let you all know how I find it when it arrives. This has been a really informative discussion, so thanks to all for you excellent input, and helping me make my decision to finally buy one!

    In the market for a new strap. I've got a Gibson leather one, which after 2 years of use is still as stiff as an ironing board.....and digs in during a long gig! And it's not long enough either. So I thought I'd look at different materials. Did some searching here on BC, but most of the suggested links were overseas. I'm really after a UK based company to get one quick! Saw these Ernie Ball's on E-bay. Good company, or so I like their basses anyway....and these are pretty cheap.....     I've just checked out i retailer who have put their price up on these nearly 40 squid overnight! That's maybe a bit over the VAT thing, and it's not quite new year yet. Who knows....maybe the shops read BC, and when a bass gets raved about, they give the price a hike!! Still, you can now pick these up at about £299, which is still pretty good - I haven't ordered yet, and wish I had done a week ago. Trouble is, they creep over the £300 mark, and you can get a new MIM for about £380, so that's quite a tough market to get into.....

    How come the range of colours in the Squier range far, for me, outweighs the Fenders? I think that P's look better in interesting colours, like the red. The Fender US/Mex P's all seem to be a bit 'regular'....black, sumburst, etc... Then again, I suppose I'm a bit influenced by seeing JJ Burnel with his green P, and of course Kim Deal - I think - had a old red P (US of course!)

    Thanks everybody! The BC community seems pretty sold on these. Now to do some more looking to get the price even lower. The video above sums it up - I actually checked it out the other day, and couldn't believe it. I'm am no Fender expert at all, but the difference I hear is minimal. With the kind of gigs I do, pubs and such, I reckon even that difference would get buried. and lost on most people including myself. Of course, it also works for me at gigs where you don't want to cart around a £1600 Ric. Hell, if a sub £300 bass took a knock, I'd actually be happy knowing it wasn't the Ric taking it!!

    Machine heads - tick! QC - tick! ....but can sound like a classic growling P-bass? Especially as I was looking at the USA H1's before?

    Thanks all, keep the opinions coming! As the machine heads have been mentioned, how bad are they? Years and years ago, I had a terrible Jim Deacon Stingray copy. One day when tuning, the head disintegrated in my hand as it was plastic with a platicky chrome cover! Must be better than that, surely? And tone wise - big difference between the CV and VM? I'm still probably still more into the looks of the CV, but does it provide a JJ growl?
