  1. On fretted, predominantly thumb anchored over rear pup but sometimes I'll 'float' the right hand closely over the strings. On fretless, same technique but occasionally I will pluck with the inside of the index finger over the 'board. This is good for approximating an Upright sound.

Beautiful. Looks like my old '64. GLWS.
  3. That headstock is going to go bananas at some point.
  4. Here's how I tried doing it on a minty on a Strat. Used a Dremel at very low speed on select areas of the layered ege. Sanded the top with 800 grit and rubbed a turmeric paste onto it. Did that several times and bunged it in a warm oven long enough to see the plastic begin to flex. It actually turned out ok, though there were a few areas that took on yellow top much but it wasn't glaringly obvious.
  5. I have to get in touch with this lad. I have a vision.....a Shell Pink Sparkle stack-pot Jazz but with the post-'63/'64 neck profile but with the reissue circuit. I'd die a happy man and forget about that real '60 that was offered to me in '93 that I passed on......
  6. Are the postage rake-offs Ebay take the same percentage as what they take in FVFs? Not sure. If they are, I guess the postage is irrelevant, but if they aren't..... Anyway, seller has replied saying insurance is included in this cost.
  7. Spotted this oddball this morning. Yuk, no thanks. Alembic Jazz
  8. I emailed the seller, asking if insurance was included in the price, but have yet to hear back.
  9. Those old nitro tort 'plates are like jewels from another world. I had one on my old '64 Jazz and it was a delight to behold. But >£200 for a Spitfire 'plate? Nahh....
  10. I, too, have been following that sad saga, for that is indeed what it is. Fingers crossed for you, Fuzzbass, come May.
  11. Must be added-on insurance. Never thought of that.
  12. I am bid on an item in Germany. It's a small item around 5Kg in weight and the seller has postage down as £40. Other similar items have postage rates to UK half of what my seller is asking; these seem more in line with what I'd expect to spend. My concern is this: if the seller does not use a shipping service that correlates with his postage cost, do I have a recourse to claim back the excess? Many years ago I fell foul of a Canadian seller who pulled that stunt and I vowed I wouldn't let that happen again. So, anyone got such experience?
  13. That's an eclectic mix. Jimmy Shand plays Rammstein
  14. Edinburgh....hhmmmm....I should respond for a laugh. ....oh, and to ask about that nipples n mayo handle.
  15. Looks like a Hipshot-style bridge. Would be interesting to see the string height on that baby.
  16. Love to wonder WTF was going on when that idea to do that was conceived.
  17. Yeh, looks decent. Machine heads look quite sturdy, too.
  18. Good fixer going cheap in Brentwood. Avon Precision
