  1. Interesting observation of myself.  Looking back at old videos and pictures from gigs and jam nights over the past 5 years I realised I don't have any of those basses anymore, I do however still own all the shirts.

  2. Still waiting for the Ibanez to be delivered. Got a good price ordering from bax-shop.co.uk - however despite it being hosted on a UK domain it appears they are actually Dutch and the bass is being shipped from there. When I placed the order I selected UPS delivery for last Friday - clearly there website has not been updated to account for Brexit delays. Delivery was originally due to be today but now pushed back to Thursday -- over a week since I ordered it. Outrageous!!! It appears to be in the UK now so hopefully the date won't be moved again, fingers crossed.
  3. Successful Jamulus test this weekend just gone. Both guitarist and I were able to successfully jam on the server I was running. We're both using Powerlines - audio quality and lag both acceptable. Next is to get drummer onboard.
  4. OMG! Jamulus actually works (kinda)

      It really does!

I had a test go the other week to try to pursuade the drummer to rehearse online - very impressed!

  5. This ^^^ Or maybe Fodera's Master Built Kestrel
  6. Interesting to know about the server - fortunately I work for a cloud compute company so running one on AWS or Azure isn't a problem and I had already considered doing that. Yeah WiFi a big know. He's going to try some Powerline adaptors first.
  7. Right lockdown #3 is here and I'm not going to go another year without music so I'm going to try and get my psuedo band using Jamulus. It could be an uphill battle .. - drummer: highly skilled IT engineer but doesn't know what an audio interface is or what to do with it. - guitarist: got his first PC this Christmas, although in fairness he has already got an audio interface and we did just test JamKazam. Latency was an issue but he was on WiFi so we need to solve that problem. I've got a Jamulus Server configured to run on my Laptop so we don't need to worry about the central servers (hopefully that will help with latency). Once we've got their IT issues solved I'm hoping we can have some successful jams.
  8. That looks great. I have the Waves emulation collection for the SSL 4000 console , not used it in anger yet but did do some recording last year and it worked really nicely.
  9. Welcome to Sanctuary! Enhancing this thread with pictures would be a welcome addition. Would love to see the Stingray!
  10. Excellent start to the year !
  11. You will be welcomed with open arms brother.
  12. For if/when you fall off the wagon ...
  13. Welcome to the 2021 Gear Acquisition Thread. The anti-thread to the 2021 Gear Abstinence challenge. Here there are no rules, no prizes and most importantly no judgement my friends! Just a celebration of all that tickles your fancy and the low frequencies. Acquisitions through any (legal) means welcome; buying new, buying used, trades, gifts, part exchanges etc. Post updates, pictures and mini reviews of the gear you acquire through the year and inspire the rest of the BC community.
  14. This An OC-2 in good condition for £65 posted ...
  15. Anyone in on a sweepstake as to which week Andy will pickup a new bass?
  16. In fairness, it would be disappointing if he wasn't raging against the establishment with that username.
  17. I've ordered a few things from GAK without issue, Gear4music on the other hand have messed me around many a time - I won't go anywhere near them these days. These companies always blame the courier, I had an issue with a non bass related present I ordered for my wife at the start of December. Didn't arrive, company fobbed me off with a not our problem its with the courier it will probably arrive some time after Christmas. My response was you chose to use that courier, not me, and me receiving the item on time is part of the service you are providing me. They did give me a full refund in the end after I opened a PayPal dispute but I won't shop with them again.
  18. Last year I did really well. Apart from a SansAmp DI for recording and a Peterson Clip-On Tuner for tuning I didn't buy anything else bass related. I even sold a bunch of guitars and pedals and other stuff I wasn't using. It was a most unsatisfying year! Jan 5 4pm, I'm +1 bass, and happy.
  19. One of the reasons I went for the Ibanez is although the face of the fingerboard is unlined it looks as though the top edge is.
  20. Spotify has been throwing out some real tunes in my Daily Mixes recently and this one popped up yesterday.
  21. I'm all about the gear acquisition threads this year my friend! If the OC-5 hadn't been out of stock every where I would have had one of them by now too.
  22. OK, I've pulled the trigger on an Ibanez SRF 700 Portamento. Should arrive Friday. With the new national lock down going to look at / pick up used gear is not going to happen. The Ibanez has a 120 day free return policy and I got it for a decent price. New year, new gear :woot:
  23. Well, assuming you can play the reference pitch perfectly in the first place
  24. It looks lovely but with all the new lock down restrictions, no idea how I'd ever actually get hold of it.
