    I know by late 74 the jazz four bolt neckplate changed to the 3 bolt, has anyone had any experience with the 3 , as I’ve heard mixed reviews, would you let a 3 put you off buying one ,🙂

    I had one and I found it a bit flimsy, the sound wasn’t very good and it eventually broke, I use the Yamaha sessioncake now 🙂

    My fender us 62 RI was a nitro finish , I paid quite a lot for my one but you do see them occasionally come up for around the £1200 mark

    The last time I contacted labella for a single LTF, G,string, they quoted me £16 plus £4.99 postage, I didn’t bother and just bought a new set

    Not always, but they are known as the rhythm twins, they’ve worked with untold people over the years, you might like to browse the reggae thread here at some time, there’s quite a mixture in there 🙂

    Ah , fair enough TJ, please don’t think I was being cheeky, because I wasn’t 👍, but dub (which is what I play) is very bass and drums orientated , if you took the bass away you wouldn’t have anything , sly and Robbie is a good example 🙂

    I’m guessing you don’t listen to much reggae or dub 🙂, the bass is the foundation , it’s crucial , without it you haven’t got anything

    You’re right, it’s not common but as 4000 says some builders do use it, there are some nice acoustic guitars made from all ash , here’s a nice one

    I’ve used nail polish very successfully before for a few chips I had in the paint, it did a good job, I’ve also heard of superglue being used , but I’ve never tried it myself 🙂

    If I remember from my college days 🤓, When a tree grows in water or wet conditions the structure is constantly full of water so it doesn’t grow as tight grained as it would above ground or in hot conditions

    I’ve worked with a lot of ash and it’s a very nice wood, probably one of my favourites , it’s got a nice grain and a very straight grain, that’s why it’s used for necks , the grain on swamp ash is not as dense as it grows in wetlands, The wood database is always a good source of information https://www.wood-database.com/swamp-ash/
