1.
Oh buggeration! I'm on my way back from my honeymoon that weekend - we're literally passing the door on our way back up the M4/M25. D'yer think my new missus will mind me popping in for a few hours? Might need to do some explaining as to why there's a bass and amp in the car on the way down This will be the second Bash I've missed - last year it was my sister's turn to tie the knot that weekend All the best Ian
Could be the shortest marriage on record if you try to come to the Bash, Ian?
2. The 34" scale makes it really easy to play IMO -especially if you still play a 4 string from time to time like I do.. And the B-string on mine is superb, regardless of the fact that it's not a 35" scale...
3. Hi Folks Monday morning B-U-M-P etc, etc, etc...
4. Thinking about this, as it's been refretted by Jon Shuker, this is virtually like having a new one !
5. Yep! Shouldn't be but it is... Have a BUMP on me Jon - for a great bass and a great Basschatter to deal with..
6.
Ok, what would be really interesting, and would put alot of myths to bed: 1) create a sampled loop of a bass playing live on the day. 2) play this out through a cranked valve amp into one of Alexs cabs 3) put an volt meter or similar measuring device on the output of the amplifier, so that we can get a rough estimate of the RMS voltage (yes, I know P=V^2/R - bear with me) 4) record the spl coming out of the speaker - possibly whist observing from the next county. 5) swap out the valve amp for a solid state amp 6) match the spl 7) measure the voltage RMS required to get the same SPL. 8) calculate the difference in power and / or dB required to match the two. Does anyone have any kit to try out this experiment?
Sounds like a great idea ! It'd also be good to hear some different basses & different rigs A/B'd against each other when played in the Jam Room with a drummer .
7. BUMP for what is a brilliant cab IMHO! I'd really like another but I don't the the car (or my back) could take it... Good luck with the sale.
8. Cheers! It is very easy to play and really quite verstile in tone..
9. Gorgeous!! Can't add to what's already been said in the description, but I love my RBV and this looks like a beautiful example.. Good luck with the sale.
10. Lovely example of a Pro IIe... At this price, I can't believe this will be around long at all. Good luck with the sale !
11. Weekend 'cheeky backheel' kind of B-U-M-P ! .
12. Weekend 'cheeky backheel' kind of B-U-M-P ! .
13. Cool ideas folks! So it's a yes to: 1) A drummer 2) The bass synth workshop idea and 3) the vocals one too Thanks Nik
14. Ladies & gentlemen I'm pleased to announce that, thanks to the excellent efforts of our very own Hamster, the SE Bass Bash 2012 is now confirmed for Saturday 29 September To be held at the usual location ! (When I get a minute over the weekend, I'll start a new thread..In the meantime, please book it in your diaries)
15. That's a shame! Hope the 505 works out for you...
16. Cheers for the kind words !
17. Another B-U-M-P !! I've been asked about trade options on this but would prefer a straight sale.. However, a passive 5 string with 18-19mm string spacing could be tempting, as could a P bass of some kind.. Thanks Nik
18. And replied... Thanks.. Another B-U-M-P !! This time a pre- England v France one...
19.
If I hadn't spent all my pocket money already this month I'd have bought that just for the colour & the neck. It looks lovely Tom
+1
20. Thanks for the very kind words Jon! And I can definitely say the same of you in return. Hope all's well with you? Oh..and before I forget, a quick pre-gig BUMP!!
21. Wow! Things move so fast around here these day.. A quick Euro 2012 BUMP methinks is in order..!
22. SOLD Hi Folks Very nice example of an Ibanez SRX 705 5-string thru-neck bass for sale. I've just added another bass to my collection, so this needs to go now. Any interest at all at £225 + p&p? if not, Evil Bay, Gumtree and Friday-Ad beckon... Photos: Though I've not had it long, I'd guess it's about 5-7 years old.. Nevertheless, it's in very good condition; the 2-band e.q works fine, there are no issues with the neck and the frets have a fair amount of life left in them. It has recently been set-up with a medium action and plays very nicely. It has a thunderous low B on it and tonally, I would say it suits a broad range of music, though probably is more suitable for rockier styles.. There's plenty of info about these on the web, but here's some links to help you on your way: http://www.talkbass....x-705-a-680066/ http://www.zzounds.c...view--IBASRX705 http://www.talkbass....x-705-a-680066/ You Tube link: http://www.google.co...KL1OguLPxj4uWWA Features: Neck-thru construction 5pc. Maple/ Walnut Neck Material Rosewood Fingerboard 24/Medium frets Light ash body Accu-Cast B205 bridge PFR pickups EQB-IIDX electronics Why am I selling, I hear you ask?? Well... I'd been after one for a while as I'd been hankering for a thru-neck fiver for ages. However, though it sounds pretty good to me, I just can't quite get on with the narrower string spacing, which is by my reckoning, 17mm at the Bridge. Because I use a Fender Roscoe Beck V most of the time and that has a 19mm spacing, I'm finding the change over at gigs a little too tricky.. So, if anyone out there is looking for one of these, I'm looking for £250 + p&p for it and though there's no hard case with it, i am happy to post at buyers expense in a gig bag and would make sure that it's extremely well packaged up! However, I would much rather it was picked up and tested beforehand, if at all possible... Tea & biscuits provided of course for prospective buyers, who are very welcome! Please PM me if you have any questions or just post them here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for looking! Nik
