Bass Player wanted - West Sussex/Hampshire area
silverfoxnik replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Bassists Wanted
I'm good thanks Chris - you?? Wow, I didn't realise you were still working in Wales after moving back to Kent... How do you manage all of that? Yes - you'd have been perfect for this gig; shame! -

I enjoyed the show; Blur were really on form I thought.. The Ong Ong song was great. Laura Marling was as interesting as ever and showed again what a talented guitar player and singer she is... Favourite of the night though, was Natalie Prass, who had a great bass player in her band - he was really funky! -
Hello fellow Basschatters, I recently received an email from a local female jazz singer who's looking for a bass player to join her jazz quintet that's due to start gigging in June around the Sussex/Hampshire areas. Kerry Le Bern is her name and ideally, Kerry is looking for someone who can play electric bass & double-bass, something that i can't do unfortunately - hence why I'm posting this ad here to see if there's any interest for this opportunity from within the Basschat community? So, in Kerry's own words: "I'm currently looking for a bass player to join a small jazz band I have just set up. Unfortunately our bass guitarist is very ill and has had to stand down. We are a friendly bunch and rehearse weekly (Tuesdays) in the Bognor Regis area. I have keys, sax. Percussion and me on vocals. I do some solo performing and you can have a look at my website here: www.theladysings.co.uk We started in February but we have gigs lined up from June. The set list is mostly what I call 'easy listening jazz' i.e. American songbook, but we are also doing some modern stuff in a jazzy style e.g. Madeleine Peyroux, Caro Emerald etc; If anyone is interested on Basschat, please ask them to contact me via email or on 077398 75099. I'm looking for someone who can commit to weekly rehearsals in advance of gigs from June. Many thanks! Kerry Le Bern Dip LCM "] www.theladysings.co.uk " If you're interested, please contact Kerry directly using the details above. Thanks for looking and good luck! Nik

Looks like it's going to be a great event Mick - well done! Hi Mick Sadly, i can't make the Bash as I'm rehearsing that day for a festival gig the next weekend, so I am only able to wish you all the best for the day.. There's no doubt that it's going to be good one from everything I've read so far, and how good your previous bashes have been... All the best Nik

Just bought a Yamaha BB300 from James. My third transaction with the 'Moos3h' and just as good as the last two.. Great bass, arrived really quickly and was every bit as good as he said it was; in fact, its even better! He even set up the action on it for me, and that's great too.. Brilliant Thanks James!

My old one Sorry it didn't work out for you Rob. I replaced it with a Zoom B3, which is great (particularly the amp modelling sims), but I really do miss the ME50B because it's so interactive and fun to play with.. Not only that, but some of it sounds are more 'authentic' to my ears than those on the Zoom.. Just to add that, this was properly checked out by my amp tech not long before I sold it to Rob. Hmmm....?

SOLD Hi Folks BOSS BR-600 8-track portable digital studio with case, 128mb compact flash card, mic cable, box and instruction manual for sale, £75.00 or near offer plus p&p. The unit works on either 6 size AA batteries or a 9V DC adapter (not included). In great condition and fully functioning. Reason for selling After two years of owning this great piece of kit, I've decided to put it up for sale. I bought it from MacDaddy in 2012 at the South East Bass bash but frankly, I've hardly used it, not because it's not a great little recording studio all in one small package - it is! But more because I've just never discovered the inner Phil Spector or Mark Ronson that I thought might be hiding in my creative psyche somewhere! Sad fact is, I just prefer playing bass really.. Photos Reviews, Blurb, online info etc There are a lot of reviews available online, but here's an excerpt from one I found on Amazon here: (http://www.amazon.co...iews/B000GHRU00): "A fantastic, portable machine with tons of features and excellent sound that will fulfill almost any need from recording quick ideas or live performances to recording your own album. BUY IT NOW!!!" Here's what Boss say are it's main features:

Portable and ultra slim!
8 simultaneous playback tracks
64 virtual tracks
CompactFlash memory card slot for recording media (128MB card included)
Powerful guitar and effects processor, including vocal FX and pitch corrector
Built-in drum machine with velocity-sensitive pads
Built-in stereo microphone and battery power to record anywhere
USB port for data transfer/computer connectivity
Also, here's a YouTube tutorial which is really helpful: I'm happy to post this or equally, if you're local and want to come and test it out, then that's cool too.. I'm based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. I guess p&p will be about £8.00. Also on Ebay, so if it sells there, I'll have to withdraw this ad... Anyway, thanks for looking and please feel free to PM me if you have any questions, Nik P.S. Here's more of the Boss blurb below: BR-600: Digital Recorder - The Ultimate Notebook Studio 2006 MMR Editor's Choice Award BOSS has a long, celebrated history as the world’s premier compact-effects manufacturer, but now the BOSS brand has become synonymous with portable digital recording as well.
I saw this on FB and thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy. http://www.independent.com/news/2014/nov/19/dating-musician-i-recommend-bass-players/
My ex-wife sent me this article earlier in the week and it really made me chuckle.. She says it's all true, and she should know, as she's dated 4 bass players in her time - including me. Her present beau is a bassist too... Loved the Latin species names like 'Ego Maximus' and 'Controli Freakata' for singers and guitarists respectively!
