1.
Nick, given one of the very special guests do you mind if I plug ther Bash on the Facebok Wal page again (along with an encouragement to join in the forum fun too)? Cheers. Oh, and Bumpitty Bump...
Great idea, Trevor, so please do..
 2. IIRC, we heard one of these cabs at last year's South East Bass Bash in the cab 'shoot-out' and it sounded great to me. This is a really good price, too! GLWTS
 3.
A rare and vintage Gibson for not much dosh, with the added bonus of dealing with a Basschat legend.......
+1
 4. Lovely looking acoustic Chris! I assume it sounds pretty good too? GLWTS Nik
 5.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and your kind comments. If you like the Belew slant in that, then have a listen to this which was straight off the desk from our last gig.... https://soundcloud.c...world-final-mix
Fabulous version! As a life-long Bowie fan (and still in a state of mourning to be honest), that has brought a smile to my face this morning.. Particularly because it's a Bowie tune that doesn't get much attention compared to all of his hits . Whereabouts are you based by the way?
 6.
Still not 100% I can make it, but I'll pay the cover either way
Very kind of you, good Sir!
 7. Really good band, IMO. Bowie 'crooning' off to a tee, good rhythm section, and the Adrian Belew guitar parts done really well! I didn't really think about the video much, but maybe that's a good thing as I was just concentrating on the band and the music.
 8.
Can I make a little suggestion? At last years Bash, there were a few attendees who were selling gear. Would it be possible to get some kind of listing together ahead of this? Obviously, don't post who is selling here, just list what, an anticipated price and preferred payment method?
Good idea! Might be best to have a separate thread for this?
 9.
Wow!
Are you joining us Chris?

 13.
I was there towards the end of BW, then came all the angst about who owned the site and the data. Then BC. We all lived at a slower pace back then. I went on holiday for 2 weeks and when I came back there were 15 pages of posts to plough through. We get that in a day now!
+1
 14. Totally agree; he's written some of the best bass lines I've ever heard.
 15. Sounds pretty good to me and looks cool, so I'm surprised it hasn't sold on here by now. Anyway, GLWTS
 16.
I've never been able to understand why this band are so incredibly popular.
Awful. A dirge, like all their other stuff IMO. But I am a bit of an old fart in my musical tastes.

 19. I've always assumed that when people describe the neck on a bass they're selling as 'straight', they mean that the truss rod has been adjusted to provide the absolute bare minimum of relief because they like a very low action on a bass. I've certainly bought basses on here that have been set up that way and it's always the first thing I change. Nothing wrong with it of course, but I've always preferred a higher action, which inevitably requires more relief in the neck. Variety is the spice of life, as they say.
 20. I started playing with fingers when I was 14 and was learning the bass , but by the time I got into my first band, punk was happening and Andy Warren (bass player with the early Adam and The Ants band) had an amazing sound playing a Ricky 4001 with a pick, so that's what got me using a pick. After that, Leigh Gorman's amazing playing style - also using a pick - heavily influenced me. Over the years, I switched to using fingers as the styles of music I was playing at the time changed , but I'm so glad that I developed a good pick technique early on because it's been so useful - especially in covers bands where the bass lines you have to play may have been recorded on synths. There's no right or wrong way to play IMO ; I just use the style that suits the song and the version of it that I happen to be doing at the time.
 21. Thanks for the replies Folks, I'll check them out and let you know what happens. Nik
 22. Hi Folks I've just decided to venture into the DAW world and have an 2010 iMac with El Capitan as the OS, and which has Garageband on it. So far so good, and as a next step, I've bought a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB here on BC to use with it.. Having downloaded the drivers for it, it seems to be working, the lights are on etc, etc..and I can hear my bass when it's plugged into it via a pair of headphones. But no matter what I do, I can't get Garageband to recognise the signal from my bass, even though I think I've set up the relevant settings in Garageband in order for that to happen. Has anyone got any useful tips/advice on what i need to do to make this work?? Thanks Nik
