1. Just purchased my Ashdown Little Giant 1000, £300 from reverb with an extra 10% off for Easter so £269 for 1000 watts of smallness, even with the sh*t buttons that is a bargain! Here it is with my new cab (Cheers Pete)!
2. Well just went in and tried the LH1000 the good points are the price, the size not tiny but small and it sounds great for the money, in the 30 mins I was messing about I was really impressed by the versatility and quality of sound. The bad points are it looks a bit sh*tey, just the layout is a bit crazy and the posing pouch bloke, buttons are way cheap one actually fell off but is cheap, worst of all though was the tone shaping option which unless you were looking for the sound of a stylophone wasn't happening.... turns out the amp was broken. However in saying that I still think I'm going to buy one because you just can't beat that price for a back up or a small form factor amp.
3. Cheers Dave that's great info, obviously they won't be the quality of a markbass or anything but seems like a very cheap lightweight option.
4. Right a quick question thinking of getting the lg1000 would it be fine to run both channels into two seperate 300watt 4ohmcabs and risk overdriving the cabs. Or is there a way of daisy chaining the cabs and only using one channel at 500 watts.
5. Anyone tried these I have the briefcase which is an amazing little amp, but looking for something with a bit more welly really for playing with the upright... Any thoughts would be appreciated..

The Chihuahuas

My roots rockabilly combo playing tonight in Glasgow
7. Hey Sy that would be great cheers, I'm going to try and catch you guys at the Glasgow Rhythm and Blues festival looking forward to it. The Chihuahuas are playing in the Griffin next Friday if you are around, we have a new fiddle player but haven't been able to get the box player and the him playing in the same room yet so it might be a bit of a rammy!
8. Just got Spotify today I'll give it a go
9. I just bought it I'll probably learn one of the lines in forty or fifty years
10.
My copy of Ray Browns 'bass methods' arrived today, seems a really useful book, covers many scales.
I was looking at this is the book, is it just standard notation no bass tab for the less gifted??
11. Hey cheers for this it's awesome....
12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhFLtOIhhCw This is very cool
13. I have a Czech made Boosey and Hawkes from the 60s I think and use a K&K bass max pick up with the the K&K pre and the fingerboard clicky at the moment. I have a PJB bass briefcase really as a monitor and a preamp into the house PA. I just ordered a SE-2200A from ebay, which hasn't arrived but thats more for recording hoping to blend it with another mic. I'd like to try a few other things the fishman pro plat and the LR Baggs come to mind
14. I have the K&K bass max and the clicky with the dual preamp for blending the sounds, just got it last week and I have to say I'm digging it. Had to get it shipped over from Gollihur music site so it was a bit pricey but it sounds cool. Bloke seems to be selling one on ebay It was a toss up between that and a fishman pro platinum but I just couldn't seem to get one of them for the right price, if anyone is selling one I'm still interested! How are the silver slaps by the way? I have steels on my bass at the minute but was really interested in those strings.
15. The briefcase is very cool I've used for smallish gigs and as a monitor for larger venues and taken a Di into the desk I really like it, I'm going to try for the suitcase though as I worry about cranking it to be honest but for quiet gigs its plenty loud. Perfect for acoustic.
16.
I used these 2 to record the second Red Jackson album
Hey Teej that's awesome man the tracks on the website sound absolutely brilliant...
17.
The mixer would suffice as a DI but you may suffer from your standard soundcard. I would suggest buying a decent firewire or USB audio interface. Some of them even have pre-amps with phantom power so you'd only need the one box.
Cheers Cheddatom I probably didn't explain myself to well I have an m-audio fastback which is basic but fine I could plug the mic straight into that and record the bass acoustically, but wondered if there would be anything to gain from running the mic through a preamp, the only one I have being on the briefcase. This might be a sh*t idea mind you!
18. Anyone got any experience of home recording an upright? I just purchased a se 2200a mic and can get my hands on some small condensers. I'm thinking of going into a laptop if I was using a desk I'd have peamps but I'll be DIing into the computer. Could I use my pjb briefcase (which has a bass buddy preamp and DI out) as a preamp and plug the mics into a wee mixer, then into the briefcase, and finally into the laptop or is that a really dumb idea!
19.
Any chance of a pic. I've never seen a half size before. Be interesting to see what it looks like.
There you go here are a couple of pics, the bad quality one shows the Selmer in relation to my 3/4 Boosey & Hawkes.
20. I have a double bass labeled as Selmer, I reckon they imported basses and badged them as Selmer, the one I have is Czech made it's a half size and is really quite beautiful.
21. Hi Folks I know bows are pricey and all but can anyone recommend a decent budget bow for a beginner?
22. Sorry about the delay, get you some info tomorrow .
I'm still interested in this. Have you got a price yet?
23. This is really cool man I'd love one of these, I have the briefcase and its great for the upright... I'd have to have serious will power not to buy this if you were local!
24. And another pm
