  1. The speaker cone has gone on my Rumble 15 v1 (it's old and I bought in very second hand). Can anyone recommend a good, cheap >15 watt 8ohm 8" speaker?
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  3. I don't think he means dead spots. The fingerboard may not be perfectly straight, leading to uneven tone across the bass, so it can be difficult to set up so that you get consistent mwah everywhere. It's not surprising because they are cheap, mass produced basses. I have one of these (bought on this forum) and I think they are excellent starter fretlesses and really good value for the price, but anyone buying one needs to remember they are not buying an MIA.
  4. I'm not even qualified to play bass. Yet I do.
  5. 1971. Machine Head. He's got a point.
  6. Have you tried that "That's a lot of shoes!" tactic? But you probably want to stay married.
  7. Just bought a Rumble 15 v2 from Richard. As ever, problem free transaction, amp exactly as advertised and prompt delivery. Many thanks.
  8. Fretless Precision (being really pedantic about it).
  9. If you're going to miss the extended range, then keep it. It's simple.
  10. For me EQ is about solving problems rather than shaping tone. A bit of bass cut to solve bassy howling and booming. A mid boost (or two, sometimes) to cut through. It's never more than that. And the more knobs you have, the more opportunity to screw everything up royally. If there are no problems, don't fix what ain't broken. Well, actually, I do add a bit of honk, now and then, so I guess that is tone shaping....:D And when it comes to roll off tone controls, I have only ever used them on P basses. But they really do work on P basses!
  11. Thanks for the history! My memory is only anecdotal. I have a vague memory of DIN plugs being introduced as a replacement for phono plugs. But the memory is vague and highly unreliable. Especially to do with the late '70s. And clearly, as phono plugs are still around, not the case. I do remember the first time I ever saw an HH VS combo being used in anger was Dr Feelgood at the Chalk Farm Roundhouse. Wilko Johnson was running his Tele through one. That could have been '76?
  12. Yes, I agree with that except for the bit about ceramic magnets. They definitely have their own taste.
  13. Ha ha. Still, whatever happened to DIN plugs? They were just...not there any more. And I know people, quite grown up, who have never met a PS/2 port. A band I was in in the late 70s, the bass player (I had not yet seen the light and was playing g**tar) used HH. I recall he had a 1x18". It was classy stuff.
  14. Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for a powerhouse. How would it compare to, say, the Rumble 25 or GK MB108? Would you know?
  15. Is that a couple of DIN sockets on the front? For the footswitch? I haven't seen those is decades! What happened to them?
  16. Update - I have decided I actually like the pup on my Squier bass so I'm keeping it.... Funny old world.
  17. Does anyone have any experience with this amp? What's it like? Thanks.
  18. Towelling retains moisture. Isn't there a danger you would be increasing the humidity in the case by doing this?
  19. The Squier VM P is excellent for the price. But be sure you want a P bass!
