  1. Never ever buying anything from BassDirect again. Purchased a Tech 21 YYZ pedal through their reverb store, paid for it and then got a message saying it's out of stock and been refunded but my refund will take 3-5 days to process which means I'm out of pocket until then and can't go purchase one somewhere else until that money is back in my account.

@Jakester I've been considering buying a bass they have listed in stock on their website, I'd rather miss out on the bass or pay more elsewhere instead of putting money in their pockets now. And shops like that wonder why people would rather use big online retailers/auction sites over them?

@ForbiddenWytch - because BD (and I'm sure they are not alone) have a history regarding stock management. It has been detailed here many times. I've no beef with them, but I know if there is something they say they have, I'll take a couple of minutes to ring them and buy it that way. Disregarding that, why involve a third party in the transaction when you don't have to. It just doesn't make sense to me.

@hiram.k.hackenbacker Have you not read the comments? I had reverb "dollars" to spend from the sale of a couple of my own items on there and when searching for the pedal, it just so happened to be available from them. I don't spend 24 hours a day on BassChat reading every single thread to know of the issues with Bass Direct's poor inventory management. I'm glad you've got the time to sit there and ring somewhere to double check on their stock, do you do the same with Amazon? Don't answer that because I already know what the answer is. I happen to work in the day time, you know, usual trading hours? I purchased the pedal in the evening. Your comment is so damn stupid.

  2. Hey guys & gals. This is really just a quick one as I can't seem to find any info on the net that's helping. Those of you who own a 70s Jazz Bass / a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, would one of you be able to measure the distance from the 12th fret wire to the pole pieces on the neck and bridge pickups for me please? I'm sticking some Jazz bass pickups in my bass that currently has EMG soapbars in it. Will be installing some J coils pickups in a soapbar casing as close to the 70s J bass placement as I can then epoxying them in the casing. Thanks
  3. Gimme! Ive had two of these and stupidly sold them. I will buy another and this time, I'll not sell it.
  4. There's absolutely nothing in my posts that are libellous or defamation of character, anything that's been said is already in the public domain with a quick google search of his name.
  5. The long and short of the whole situation is that Mr Mason is nothing more than pond scum, an absolute low life who tries to prey on other people to fuel his habits. Unfortunately, he managed to rip quite a few of us off but he didn't win and he will never win. His addictions and actions will be the end of him. The fact he walks around having to look over his shoulder every minute of his life shows how big trouble he is in. Some day soon, he will get his comeuppance and we'll be here to laugh at him then forget about him and his miserable existence once again.
  6. Interesting is that. How he isn't in jail by now is beyond me. Would call him a con artist but that would suggest he's good at it.
  7. Bugger, why are these available when I'm skint! These would have been great in my fretless
  8. My bunghole will fuzz now!! brrrrrrrrrrrrr

  12. EVH D-Tuna. You know what it does, you know what it's for. Bought it with the intention of fitting it to my V, decided against it in the end so it's been opened but it's totally unused. £40, I'm losing a tenner on this. Collection welcome or I can post it for an additional £5 (First Class Signed For) *SOLD*
  13. TC Electronic Thunderstorm Flanger Great flanger pedal, does what you'd want from a flanger, just have no need for it any more and I'm now operating a strictly "sell before buy" policy with pedals so I don't amass a collection like I had 6 months ago. The pedal is in fantastic condition, has velcro on the bottom and if wanted, I'll chuck in a foot switch topper for any one who likes pretty colours on their board. Trade wise, if anything I'd only trade it for a Mooer Yellow Comp as I need that for my guitar board and essentially that's what this is being sold to pay for. Can post at cost to buyer, I usually use "first class signed for" (I don't charge for packing materials like some sellers) which is £5. Don't have PayPal I'm afraid but always provide receipt of bank transfer and provide proof of postage receipt as soon as the pedal is posted (always sent next day too!)
  14. I sold a couple of preamps to Gary and he was a pleasure to deal with throughout. I'll only be repeating 6 pages of feedback by saying he's a top bloke! Thanks Gary!
  15. Seymour Duncan SSL-5 bridge pickup, also known as the “David Gilmour” pickup. Used in my Strat before swapping to custom shop pickups. Wires have been replaced as I’d cut them short so there wasn’t an excess of wire in the guitar. Sounds fantastic and has a lot of output. If using with SD pickups, the white is the “hot” wire, but if using with Fender pickups, you have to use the black as the “hot” wire (more info on Google about that) £50 posted.
  16. EMG 3 way blade switch for quick connect solderless wiring. can be used on bass or guitar! £25 posted
  17. Clearing out my parts drawer, I’ve got 2 preamps and 4 pickups to sell as a bundle. the pickups are “EMG 40…” sized soapbars with P-type magnet arrangements and the preamps are (according to Google) very similar to the old HAZLAB preamps. Vol/blend/bass/treble (boost and cut). They’re all from early Tobias basses and sound great but just not used. 2 of the pickups aren’t pictured as they’re currently back in a bass for the weekend while I was testing it. Surely worth £50 to someone. £5 postage or collection is welcome. Would also straight swap for an MXR Dyna Comp or Pedaltrain Metro 20 (must include the carry case).
  18. I've used so many different fuzz pedals on bass but always ended up back using my big box Bass Big Muff until it died. If asingardenof doesn't take this, are there any trades you'd be interested in?
  19. Hello Mike, First off, many thanks for your reply as i think that diagram will help a lot! i should add the switch isn’t a Dimarzio switch, I just found that EMG use the same wire colour coding as Dimarzio, the switches are the standard DPDT ON-ON-ON 3 way mini toggles and judging by your 2nd diagram, they’re type 2 as the top left lug is left unused. Both switches were from the same retailer bought in the same transaction so can’t see them being different types to one another (I hope!) I’ve noticed some slight differences in the way the diagram from Dimarzio and the diagram from Bartolini is wired up so I’ll try swapping the coloured wires first. I think you’re right about the single coil hum cancelling thing too, I reckon that’s where I’ve balls’d it up. I’m going to pull the bass apart again tonight or tomorrow and have a go at it with the diagram you’ve provided. Whatever way the bridge pickup is wired up, I’ll go with the opposite diagram for the neck pickup. There was nothing on the EMG page to suggest they were RW/RP but it would make total sense that they are. Tbh, the EMG pages are extremely unhelpful anyway. Thanks again for your reply.
  20. Been a while since I've posted one of these! Hey everyone, could do with a bit of help. Yesterday I decided to re-wire my Jackson bass with a 3 way mini toggle on each of the EMG 35HZ pickups so that I had series/parallel/split options. Found a diagram online and after doing a bit of research found that EMG use the same colour coding as Dimarzio for their passive HZ pickups but when I wired them up, the bridge pickup worked as it should & the neck pickup just didn't work. I wired both pickups in the exact same way so I don't know if I've made a simple mistake or if I've really balls'd it up! This is the diagram I used: As said, the bridge pickup works fine and the switch works fine for that one (the output is a bit low but that could be down to my dead strings) but the neck pickup doesn't work. There's a very faint signal from the neck pickup so I know the pickup and wires aren't dead, I've obviously just made a mistake somewhere. The switch is passing signal too so it's not a broken/faulty switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially as I have a gig on Friday and would like to use the bass but if not, I'll use my 5 string.
