  1. Baking scales say 3.8-3.9kg for the weight. I don’t know how trusty these scales are, and they certainly can’t handle a full grown bass. But it’s definitely on the lighter side compared to my Jazz which is about 4.3kg. IMG_0433.mov
  2. Just added my latest addition - Keely Bassist, purchased from BC this week. Everything I now need and an absolute tone monster for a mid range board. Once I’m back in the black, I’m going to swap Hot Wax and Battalion out for a Pork & Pickle and a Tech-21 VT. But no upgrades until I find some cash. For now this will do very nicely.
  3. Wow. That is amazing. I should get my backside in gear and list my Japanese P bass. Coz if I had the cash, I’d be buying this.
  4. I’m reluctantly selling my Japanese fender P bass. This was purchased from Guitarzilla.co.uk exactly 5 years ago. It has been gigged many times (because bases shouldn’t be ornamental 😉) and has a few scuffs as part of its history - one noticeable (details and photos below) others just normal minor belt rash and dings. The reason I’m looking to move this on is to fund a second jazz bass and I have my eye on a couple on here. Details, to best of my ability: Fender Japan Precision Bass, Made in Japan, serial R019581 (serial at heel of neck). From what I can tell it’s early-2000s (possibly around 2003–2004). I seem to remember purchasing it as a 2004. Spec / details: Black body Black pickguard fitted + original white guard included Original Fender Japan pickups (no electronic mods) Genuine Fender High Mass Bridge fitted by me (clean install) Professionally set up last year by the sadly defunct super axes in Harrogate. One small cosmetic dink on the top of the body, approx 1.5-2cm, small belt scuffs on back (hard to photo) otherwise tidy. I have the original white pick guard that will be included. Oh, and look how sexy the pattern of the headstock wool is!!! 😍 Not sure of weight, and currently don’t have suitable scales. But if I get the chance I will find out and update. UPDATE - weighed it to best of my abilities. 3.8-3.9kg see below. Plays great, nice punchy P-bass tone with plenty of bite. A solid rock machine. I know everyone says stuff like this, but of all the P basses I’ve owned, I think this is my favourite. I’m just more comfortable with a Jazz. I’m not looking to post this bass, as there is no case, I don’t have a box, and I’m nervy about that stuff. However, happy to arrange tryouts, collections and willing to drive 1 hour from HG to meet up or deliver. Trade wise I am looking for a 4-string Jazz with maple fret board and block inlays in natural finish. Very specific, I know. But have always wanted that aesthetic since I’ve been in short pants. But sadly that dream never came a reality. Make that wee boys dream come true. Priced fairly to sell - no offers. (Other than trades, obviously) Paypal, bank transfer or cold hard cash accepted. Any questions, just shout and fire me a DM.
  5. New pedal board and pedal day. Thunderstorm is a bargain at £33 and Stritch board £69 with built in power. I’m looking to get a lovely compressor for start of chain and maybe a Pork & Pickle for OD. But as it stands: Polytune Hot wax (hot tubes constantly on, wax for dirt) Thunderstorm battalion (dist always on and Pre EQ)
  6. I’ll take it.
  7. Last year. Been ‘busy’ recording an album this year.
  8. I got a 335 style Harley Benton guitar listed as B stock. Still can’t work out why it’s b-stock - ex demo maybe? Absolutely immaculate.
  9. Great rehearsal last night, practicing for a short slot at an all day charity gig next week. Was so happy with my tone. MIM Jazz > EHX Hot Wax > Nux Chorus > EHX Battalion > Orange Terror Bass > Roost 1x15 Had the distortion on the Battalion always on for a tiny bit of bite and switched between both circuits of the Hot Wax for overdrive. Sounded mint. Might have to think twice about selling my battalion. Then I was using my new IEMs (purchased on hear) so I could hear the vocals - we are loud. All add lovely tone to a sweaty and excellent evening. Even the song I play guitar on went well!!! More practices like this, please.
  10. FS: EHX Bass Big Muff Nano Great fuzz pedal and hood for pedal board real estate. Gigged plenty of times. Fully working. Couple of mark from use. velcro on underneath. Unboxed. Comes with Gear4Music 9v adapter as I lost the EHX one. Collection or pot at buyers cost, say £5. Paypal (F&F) or bank transfer.
  11. FS: EHX Battalion Great pre-amp/Di/Distortion pedal. Used a handful of times live and in rehearsal. Fully working. Original box, power supply and paperwork. Small scratch on top (see photo). Velcro strips added and rubber feet removed. Only selling coz I have GAS for Orange Bass Butler. Collection or post at buyers cost. About £7 recorded delivery? Paypal (F & F) or bank transfer.
  12. Had a lot of fun listening to the new Post Malone album today.
  13. I know there are a million and one companies that can do personalised guitar picks. However, has anyone had any experience with printing QR codes on them? For the record, these are not for playing with. They are actually a fun little idea I’ve had for my freelance business. I have a really good network and at events people are always asking me about guitars (or paddle boarding, or my dog etc). All a long way from actual work. So I thought when I’m networking or speaking at events, a personalised guitar pick to hand out would be a fun idea. Name on one side, QR code to website or LinkedIn on the other. Anyone printed a QR code on something that small? Did it work? Recommendations of suppliers welcome. I use Tortex 1mm. So I was thinking something chunky.
  14. Just catching up on the sets I didn’t watch last weekend. Have to say, I think the National is on a par with Radiohead in ‘97 for me. Amazing.
  15. Really interesting video that.
  16. Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer at London O2.
  17. I’ve been carrying out a number of usability tests recently. I found google meet + participants using safari often created my voice to be delayed. This is with using an amazing SSL mic and through normal headset. Often it is the web browser + application that can cause such problems.
  18. Lights - Band of Horses
  19. Mansize Rooster - Supergrass
  20. Insania - Peter Andre
  21. Alcoholiday - Teenage Fanclub
  22. Cheat On Me - The Cribs
  23. I’ve always had a soft spot for country, mainly via bands with Americana sound like Wilco, early Band of Horses, Jason Molina etc. Plus, I’ve always loved Cash, Nelson et al. Then on the more modern side I’ve enjoyed records by Caitlin Rose and Kacey Musgraves etc. However, I’ve only recently shown an interest in playing country. On the flip side, I have no time for the awful blues rock, boot stomping, flag waving stuff. No offence, but ain’t for me. I’m just all about the heartfelt yearning. 😁 I love the simple root and 5th use of country bass. So here’s my question(s) - what bassists should I be looking to study in the country/alt country scenes? Who else loves a heartfelt country jam? Do all your ex’s live in Texas?
