  1. With modern drivers the need for an 8x10 is long past. A 4x10 is kinda overkill too.
  2. Agreed. Use one 2x10 at rehearsals and both, stacked on their ends for a vertical 4x10 to gig with.
  3. Absolutely!! You could try a so called 'Tweeter Box'. A small box containing a mid range and or tweeter plus suitable crossover. This would operate in parallel with the woofer(s) in the AER. You could try a couple of Piezo tweeters to see if they help. they don't need much of a crossover and are cheap.
  4. Of English decent!! LOL
  5. @Hellzero I don't hink I should be talking to you anyway. You defeated my country's team!
  6. You should also get the shielding problems with your instruments sorted out. Also remember that if you stand/sit too close to your amplifier your you'll pick up interference from the amp.
  7. Time to call the Guru. @agedhorse
  8. Which, theoretically, the Amp Designer should have taken into account.
  9. Hey Charlie, always nice to hear from you. I guess we all have our own preferences in amplification. The huge disappointment I felt the first night I used the Bassman affected me for life. I couldn't get the amp back to the store fast enough. I replaced it with a Marshall 4x12 driven by a Leak TL50+ power amp and I built a single tube preamp that derived its power from the pre-amp socket on the Leak. it was far far better.
  10. I would also get the tech to install a fuse in the primary of the transformer. As it is the transformer protected the mains fuse.
  11. For myself I loved how the Blackface amps in Blonde Tolex looked. I set up my first atop it's matching 2x12 cabinet leaned back on it's legs. It made me feel that I had 'arrived'! Then I switched the thing on and started to play. All I got was a mass of distortion. I was sooo disappointed! It went back to the shop. They had sold my trade in but I left the Bassman anyway.
  12. I would be checking the rectifier and smoothing caps for a problem. I would expect that both secondary windings would feed bridge rectifiers so that the heater supply is run at DC for lowest hum generation. I agree that you seem to have a good technician who prides himself with his work.
  13. Not wanting to undermine Bill's post but I too would go with the higher powered amplifier. You don't know what equipment you may collect in the future. That said the player MUST use common sense and respect the limitations of that equipment.
  14. I wish that more companies followed the ethic that Genz Benz uses and keeps a stock of older parts to support product as much as possible. Way to go our @agedhorse.
  15. Please keep us informed on your progress or lack of it.
  16. Let us know the results.
  17. I'll agree with you Bill. An Ampeg B15 is magical1 I always get a happy smile when I play through mine. Speaker wise I tried a JBL 2225 in mine that I happened to have. It was nice but the original square back driver the amp came with had something more. It's what's in there now.
  18. My least favourite amp of all time. I've owned two. Good luck with the restoration and I really hope you're not disappointed at the end.
  19. OP as a musician I know lots of bands. You must too. Can you not talk to some of them and set up a get together/party to record the video?
  20. Hey now!! You're talking about a good Toronto band!! LOL
  21. For me I'd prefer honesty in marketing. Genzler don't play games with quoting genuine output power the way that TCE have been known to.
  22. I have read many posts about Aguilar equipment. As our brother from New Zealand opines, I can't recall any of them concerning reliability.
