  1. The youngest of our four brothers and his wife are visiting next week from Liverpool. He's renting a car and will be driving to see the city and the Falls. I'm scared stiff about him driving in our country but he IS a big lad now so he knows best!
  2. To me it's just a Buch of equipment using old, out of date technology. No interest whatsoever.
  3. You're supposed to be a bass player who should not be playing leads!
  4. Over here we run the gauntlet: Lexus, Honda, in fact almost all foreign high end imports including Porsche and Tesla. They all seem to think that road rules don't apply to them especially speed limits!
  5. He's even more awesome than you know. Whist giving all the great advice that he does he's hanging upside down on the bottom of the planet!! LOL
  6. Whereever your combo leads you must follow!
  7. Come now, not everybody can be as smart as me!
  8. My first exposure to a Rumble came when I attended a jam at a local bar. I was really impressed by the way the amp handled the Low B of my six string bass.
  9. So the question is: Are we ready to Rumble?
  10. This is not a Class D problem per se but 'dirty power' affects all amplifier Classes. Over the last sixty years I have experienced the same kind of interference many times in four different countries.
  11. In my mind I find it strange that people obsess on the noise a fan makes. The solution is really simple: if you can hear the fan you're not playing loud enough!!
  12. Ampeg do make good sounding bass amps. I love my Sixties B15NF. Every time I play through it it makes me smile.
  13. I had a an EB0F in the sixties. That was an EB0 with a built in fuzz box. The fuzz was terrible! The bass was stolen from The 21 Club in Liverpool. I replaced it with an EB2 which was also stolen. Earlier I had a Hofner Violin Bass stolen in Widnes, Lancashire. <sigh>
  14. Didn't they used to be called the EB0 for the single pickup and the EB3 for the two pickup model?
  15. Put the amp with the noisy fan into another room and close the door. A couple of long cables for speaker and instrument and you are away to the races!
  16. @ahpook I hope the amp serves you well.
  17. It was worth a try.
  18. Try linking the send and Return with a short signal cable. See what happens.
  19. I hope the new amp gives you long and faithful service. If the 15 is not an Ashdown product make sure you check that both cabinets are working with the same polarity otherwise they''l fight all night long. The battery test will allow you to check this. Also make sure the combo will handle the impedance of the 15 in parallel with the unit's internal drivers.
  20. As a man with a newly pregnant wife I naturally needed more money. I met her at a gig called Nalgo, which is somewhere off Queens Drive in Liverpool, on June 06 1968. We were married April 26 1969. Fifty four years later we're still together. As for tone, the Leak through a Marshall 4x12 was far better than a Bassman through the same cabinet. I am really not a fan of the Bassman.
  21. Not really as I was moving to a job in South Wales and wouldn't be playing for a long time.
  22. in the late Sixties I bought a Leak TL50+ for 5 Quid. I built a single ECC83 pre-amp for it that plugged into the pre-amp socket on the leak which provided the power. The circuit I used was essentially the Normal Channel of the Fender Bassman. It worked very well and it was the best sound I ever had playing in the UK. The Cathode biased KT88s really impressed me. When I left the band to get married the bandleader asked me if I would trade it for an actual Bassman. I did as I figured the Fender would be worth more when I sold it.
  23. So @msb is she married? LOL She sounds like a keeper!
