  1. I've been looking at the schematic for the Sunn 200S that I have beside my computer. There is nothing special about it except for the use of the 6AN8 tube. I did like the use of the KT88 'cos I've always had a great sound when using them.
  2. When I was that age I was in a band called Lionheart. Still know it was the best band I was ever in. This is what we carried: Hammond Organ and it's Leslie, Fender Rhodes piano, A large custom made case containing two ARP Synths, Two Altec A7 cabinets for PA lows, Two huge Altec horns for highs, Large custom made case containing three powerful AB Power Amps, My bass amp: 200W per channel class AB amp that I designed and built myself in it's plywood case, H&H twin !5 cabinet one 15 per channel, Fender Twin guitar amp, Massive mixer for vocals, Full set of drums Four stage monitors, Mic stands, stands for the PA speakers, stands for the Keyboards, Boxes and boxes full of cables for the PA and Lights, Two stands for the lights that we carried. Eight lights. I could go on. LOL We played Graduations for High School, college and University. It was loads of fun!!
  3. I have a feeling that perhaps the marketing department stacked them thus so that both cabinets could fit in one photo.
  4. Just to point out that a 1x15 is a terrible match for a 4x10. It just can't keep with the 4x10 before it fails.
  5. @BigRedX I didn't hear that my hearing aid batteries went flat!! Just as a pointer about bands that play too loud: My latest pair of hearing aids cost me more than $6000.
  6. The 'Gotcha' here is signal levels. Most Stereo power amps operate with line level signals. A pedal, typically made to drive the input od a normal amplifier will use Instrument level. It will not be able to push the power amp to serious volumes. In my case I bought a 2KW capable Class D stereo power amp, run in parallel mode, with one or two of my Acme B2 bass cabinets on each channel. To drive the power amp fully I built a tube pre-amp I designed for the job. Using a pedal you might have to add a signal amplifier between the pedal and the power amp.
  7. I've found when ordering rom the States that shipping costs are excessive when compared to Canadian rates. I'd eMail them for a quote with shipping and duties.
  8. I guess my question is, never having been in the presence of the 6x10 in question, how is the grille frame held on? Some have tabs to allow the grille to be pulled off the Velcro holding it. Some are screwed on from the inside others the cloth is attached ti the baffle itself. It makes a difference in whether the cloth change is even possible.
  9. Just for idle curiosity: how do you get the pound symbol to show?
  10. Please let us know the outcome of your trip to the tech.
  11. @Baloney Balderdash That was another example of unstructured noise! No thank you.
  12. I hope the tech can solve your problem. Is he an authorized Laney service centre?
  13. @squire5 Did you contact the manufacturer? in my mind that's the first step you should have taken. Bit late now on the weekend but you should give them a call on Monday.
  14. The first amp I ever used had an 18" Goodmans. The first amp I ever bought, a VOX AC50 with its matching Foundation cabinet also used an 18. Both were very, very poor for use with a bass guitar. I currently own four B2 2x10s by Acme. These reproduce the Low B of my five and six string instruments with ease.
  15. I watched the entire video. All I heard was noise and screaming. Not my cup'o Earl Grey Tea!
  16. Well good luck with that then.
  17. If your mains are only meant for vocals then putting a bass through them would not be healthy for them.
  18. I see it could be read either way. LOL However it would be easier, faster and cheaper to change the grille cloth on the amp itself.
  19. Forgive my curiosity but where would you play that would need a 6x10 and a 2x12? That's a lot of driver area and only 100W to drive them. Are you saying that the grille cloth on the 6x10 doesn't match that on the V4B? Edit: BTW we have a Grimsby over here in Ontario. It's a bit south of Toronto on the way to Niagara Falls.
  20. I just wonder if the PA Mains are able to handle bass at volume. If not all else is moot.
  21. May I be so bold as to give you a nod for your ingenuity. Nice one Brother.
  22. @Francisco Just for correctness, the large speaker unit is called a Woofer.
  23. You could try contacting the manufacturer. Possibly they may be able to direct you to an authorized tech familiar with your amplifier. LANEY AMPLIFICATION STEEL PARK ROAD COOMBSWOOD BUSINESS PARK HALESOWEN, WEST MIDLANDS B62 8HD, UK +44 121 508 6666
  24. My advice stays the same. If you want the unit repaired properly it needs to go to a tech. You'll just have to find one somewhere near your area. In my time I have repaired hundreds of amplifiers. The most difficult repairs have been those whose owners have tried to fix themselves. Undoing the mess that those owners left behind were a nightmare!
