  1. This has been quite a journey for all of us over the last few days hasn't it. And the journey isn't over yet, for a fantastic family, a young lady and a very good looking (and sounding)bass... albeit I've never owned a Gibson in my life! I am sure Clarky will know, but 164 active Basschatters feeling strongly enough to reach in their pockets, is a pretty strong vote of confidence from any group, let alone a bunch of bass-players. Compared with the Budget, or that dreadful man in the United States, this has been really affirming for me, as a number of us have already said better than I can. Andy and Iris (and family) I only hope this doesn't disrupt the way you can grow as a family. You ALL deserve it mate!
  2. When the great webmaster in the sky asks 'and what were the best things this website did for humanity?' we will indeed say 'Paying someone for not selling their Gibson Bass'. This whole thing has been absolutely fantastic!
  3. I think Iris has become our collective mascot (if it wasn't already a pair of dachshunds........wait a minute, I'm a cat lover!). On a serious note, I suspect many of us are parents and we fight ferociously for the wellbeing of our children. I think we are just expressing the support that we can for you. Life has some horrible twists and turns and it is just affirmative for all of us to help your family Andy.
  4. And now maybe someone else can get a chance to sell their bass?
  5. He might be able to afford a decent case for it (only kidding Andy....this has been a PROPERLY affirming afternoon for this website)
  6. Anyone got a Wal T Shirt for sale to get this over the line?
  7. It's that Wal. It must weigh a ton. I'd sell it if I were you
  8. A little bit Hooky, a little bit Derek Forbes. Great playing and the bass is a keeper!
  9. I think we at least expect a vid of you playing said Ripper when we get to £2,300.........
  10. These are good little amps with a fair amount of poke. GLWTS
  11. And neither was Yoke Ono
  12. Couped deVille....oh their not a Punk band are they!
  13. Sorry too late!
  14. The Scramblers
  15. The Gang of half a dozen
  16. Teardrop Eggsplodes
  17. Dead Henadies?
  18. The rehearsal studios we have been using all have Fender Rumbles in them. Call me an amp snob, but I get a really good sound out of them (with my Fender Jazz)....and having neutralised the sound that the death metal band before me has been trying to emulate. Presumably that's what they are made for ?
  19. I saw her at the Albert Hall in a similar predicament. Either she fell off her stool a lot, or it was the same tour. Drummer was pretty good though I seem to recall.
  20. Mike and the Mechanics: Hammersmith Odeon. Might as well have been listening to the record and/or they were cardboard cutouts on stage. Closely followed by Joan Jett and the Blackheads (or whatever they were called). I was taking photos of her, and she had a great big sign on her monitor that said 'Leeds' (which was where we were). When it got to the Hi [Insert Town/City], how ya doin!' she very obviously looked down at her monitor. And that was the highlight of the gig.
  21. Divine sounds like a slightly less industrial version of Cabaret Voltaire crossed with Grand Master Flash. I took pictures at GMF's first gig (I think) in the UK about this time. I remember the Leeds audience not quite knowing what to make of most of it, including Don't push me, cos I'm close to the ........edge. This thread is bringing back all sorts of fab memories...please keep it coming!
  22. A little bit niche, but what about this:
  23. Should I stay or Should I go. The Clash
