1. I'm selling this Bacchus BJB64, a nice 60s jazz replica which was built in Japan in the early 2000s. This bass is in great shape, very light signs of wear. Great working condition too, neck is straight, trussrod has plenty of life left, frets (medium jumbo) are in good shape, low action if needed, without fretbuzz. Average-to-light weight for a jazz bass : 9 lbs and 4ozs / 4,2 kg Lacquer finish is really nice, the rosewood board is great too, tight neck-heel, it's a well-built jazz bass, with a lot of attention to details. Electronics is cloth-wired, CTS pots, and some resistors which may prevent the sound to be darker when the volume of the pickups is decreased (it's my guess). Yuta original pickups haven't a really hot output, but they provide nice tones, articulate notes with a nice sustain. It's a nice jazz, you get these tight lows and growl. [s]£550[/s], dropped to £520 / 720 euros, including a gig-bag – which is not in great condition. I live in Paris, shipping is at buyer's expense (around the £30 mark). 2. I had a try on a Brimstone XD-2. This crossover system is brilliant, but not so easy to deal with in a live situation. It was a bit frustrating, as it was too complex for me to recreate the range of nice overdriven sounds i had at home. I finally part with it, and have now both the Beta and the Grizzly bass. I only used the Beta in a live setting, just great if you're after this slight boost in low-mids. Your tone isn't buried, it's stronger. And this thing gives a fair amount of gain if needed. Grizzly is more transparent, and more tweakable too. I stacked both (Beta in Grizzly), just great at home, but i'm afraid it"ll become muddy in a mix. I'll have a try though, these mid-scoop and treble roll-off controls on the Grizzly are really effective.
3. Thanks ! And it's a very sweet deal now: 350 pounds, shipping (around 40 pounds, maybe less) at buyer's expense. I always provide strong parcels, no worry.
4. Wow. Really nice one. Is this warrior on the not-too-heavy side ?
5. The case you can see below the bass fits a fender, not a tbird, but there's a tbird-shaped gig-bag included.
6. This one's a steal. Selling my late 80s japanese Greco tbird replica, one sought-after bass due to its pickups, which nicely nail the vintage tbirds tone, and to its comfy conception, with a near C shaped neck and a slightly under 34-inch scale. Vintage tbird tone with a better balance and an easier playing for bass players accustomed to Fender basses. Overall condition is good, some nicks here and there, especially on body's angles. Coat is worn at some point near the neck pickup, just like the crazes of a plectrum, even if the location seems a bit strange for a bass. These models have one weakness : the glue applied between the fingerboard and the neck at that time went away under the first frets of many of them, which is the case on this one. The bass was probably played a few years not being repaired, and the fingerboard started to craze – through the thickness only, it's not visible on the board. Everything is now repaired by my luthier, who did a nice setup too. He explained to me too that the repair'd be invisible with some coat on the side of the neck. This neck, which is a maple set-neck, is straight, nice low action too, frets (medium jumbo ones) are in good shape. It's comfy, think of a C shaped neck on a Rickenbacker. The weight of the bass is pretty decent : 4,2 kg / 9 lbs and 4 ozs. Balance is great, which is not so common on tbirds : the strap-pin was re-located near the heel of the mahogany body. 3 attempts were done (not by me, holes are filled), but the last one was the good one. No neck-dive at all. As for the sound, it really nails the vintage tbirds tone. Huge lows, gnarly mids and highs which aren't buried. You don't buy a tbird for its highs but on these models, well, they're decent. Hot output from the pickups, dead-silent electronics, this bass rocks, and sit nicely in a mix requiring that kind of thicky tones. Price is a nice [s]370[/s] 350 GBP, shipping at buyer's expense – from Paris where i live to a European country, it's something like 40 GBP. A steal. 7. At home, in my headphones (ok, it's a bit short for a "recording situation", but you see the idea) i really felt nothing could beat my ex-MK2 fiver. In band situation though, i felt my sound entirely relied on the room and its acoustics. Sometimes it was great, but sometimes i couldn't do anything but playing with a middy-barking tone. This Wal wasn't a dog, i'm pretty sure of this, but I had the feeling it was really sensitive to the acoustics, much more than my Fender-like basses, or my old BC Rich Eagle, which litterally kills in any situation. Btw, weight didn't make this bass a great instrument to use in live situation, but it's not the reason why i finally part with it.
8. Exactly, the same as ones used in the second vid you posted. Not well-known in European countries, but my guess is they're pretty decent alternatives to Lulls. Curious to A/B this one with a Greco tbird. Specs come close indeed: 34-inch (a bit shorter for the Greco), maple set-neck and mahogany body. Btw, i don't usually like pin-stripes, but on this one, i find it... very nice. Becoming old i guess
9. NBD in progress, should receive this one in a few weeks. i'm pretty curious about the improvement in ergonomics compared with original ones: 34-inch scale, better balance due to heavier body, neck seems a little larger after 12th fret too. Can't wait !
10. Thanks Leroy and Jebo1, the refin is nice on pics but deeper and nicer when you got this bass in your hands. If you're curious about what she sounds like, drop me your email, i got a Stevie Wonder cover to send to you. This was recorded direct, strung with rounds, by its previous owner - the reason why i don't post it there. Pretty nice cover, you got there that thicky sound i'm talking about. @ Steo42: No trades i'm afraid.
11. Here are some detailed pics. Hope i didn't forget anything :-) Neck stamp from May 66, the classic and comfy C shape. Curved fingerboard remains thick enough to enable another refret. If anybody knows how to date this one, it'd be of great help ! Frets are in pretty good shape.
12. This one has been my main P for the last four years. A 1966 Fender Pbass which pretty nails that thumpy and thicky sound many of us are after. Everything's original except :

body refin, which is a nice one, professionnaly done and reproducing the original sunburst, neck-heel is untouched. There you got a link : http://www.mancheste...burst-refinish/
Medium-jumbo refret, nicely done too. The dark brazilian fingerboard remains thick enough for another refret in the next years/decades.
The back of the neck was re-sprayed (nitro) in the 80s. The layer went away at some point with a nice worn in feel ;
Pots and capacitor were changed in the 80s too. The cap is great, progressive and with a wide range of tones.
The bass is not heavy, 4 kg / 8 lbs and 13 ozes. The overall condition is great. There are some crazes on the body, a nicely (naturally) aged headstock, and a celluloid pickguard broken on two points, the broken parts being fixed by the pickguard screws. Neck's straight whether strung with lights flats or 45-105 rounds. It's a rigid neck, the trussrod has not much effort to do, plenty of life left, and provides a nice low-action if needed. Tuning pegs are solid and smooth, better than new ones i guess. The original black-bobbin pickup works perfectly, with a strong output and these lows you expect to find on a vintage P. I was (and still am) blown away by the tone of this bass. Huge low-mids and lows, perfect balance, and instant Motown vibes with flats. She sounds great with rounds too. The one-piece (i guess) alder body is pretty resonant, you can literally « feel » the note ringing from the frets to the body. I can provide some band situation soundclips, one being recorded with round, the other with flats (Thomastik JF344). Currently strung with Rotosound rounds, she comes with original cover and ashtray. As for the case, got a vintage Fernandes case to come with, or a gig bag which would ease the pain on delivery fees. I got everything to make the parcel strong. I live in Paris, France. I didn't create a feedback topic (definitely should), but made a few recent deals here with dand666, Minski, Dee-bass, mrbassman_de, BMBR, either buying or selling (and shipping). I'll post soon some of the usual stuff concerning stamps, electronics and so on. Neck's stamped, neck-heel too, solder joints untouched. 2200 GBP, delivery fees (something like 80 pounds i guess) at buyer's expense. 13. Looks more easier than i thought indeed. Its new owner has the black & silver plate, so nothing's lost. Now sold.
14. Sorry for the 36-hour bumping rule, but i forgot to mention that i'll be in London this friday's evening, which may ease and sweeten the deal. New price drop: 2850 pounds, shipping fees not included.
15. Here are new pics with the parts I received yesterday. As for the G-tuning peg, it's possible to combine the key with the original black and silver plate – unfortunately, i don't have the proper tool for this. 16. Just received the missing parts from Wal (backplate screws + Schaller MS4 G-tuning peg), will post some fresh pics soon.
17. Have found my envelope filter bump. Price is now reduced to 2900 pounds, shipping fees not included - I live in France.
18. Still there. As for trades, no basses I'm afraid. I'm looking for some effects though: Solidgoldfx Beta, Empress ParaEq (boost version),[s] IE Xerograph, 3 leaf Wonderlove[/s]... just let me know
19. Thanks Greg and Francesco, much appreciated ! New price: 2950 GBP shipping fees excluded.
