I have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable and productive 4 days at a studio near Sittingbourne in Kent.
It is run by a guy who has built a barn to house the studio and amassed a whole host of lovely vintage gear (as well as up to the minute stuff too). You can record through an old Decca mixing console and play your bass through a lovely Portaflex.
Loads of Hammonds/Leslies and a wonderful array of old drums Mike Thorne is a drummer).
I have no connection to the place but have spent a lot of time in studios over the years and this one is head and shoulders above them all. Not only does Mike put you entirely at ease, enabling you to play your best but his partner also provides outstanding food for lunch.
We stayed at an inexpensive self-catering barn type place locally and had a great time and I strongly suspect that the CD will reflect the experience.
Check out Rimshot Studio near Sittingbourne. Excellent facility.

well, I love it
I find the bassline very cool. And when you play it in a full venue and people sings it back (I used to play in a RHCP tribute band for a few years) made my arm hairs stand up...

........... but not your third sock I hope! :-)

It's why I always ask "how many gigs has the band played in the last 8 months prior to considering joining a band.

Good job Bill Wyman was less insistent. :-)
Nothing much to add. Most people know all about this pickup.
I am not certain of the age of it (having bought it some time ago) but it's not new. Perfect if you're due to record the soundtrack for an upcoming feature film about an American baseball star who finds himself in a position where he has to save the world by venturing into space with an ex Russian violinist and killing Denholm Elliott.
One of the wires has been replaced but all works as it should.
£40 delivered via rather more earthly transport.
Our side fills are Alto TX10s and they do the job perfectly. The drummer's one is, indeed, on a short speaker stand so he and I can hear the vocals etc. Works brilliantly.
That's what we have done on many occasions. We have a singer to one side of the stage and so we have a sidefill over the other side and one at the back next to the drummer with the singer getting a combination of the two and the drummer having the luxury of hearing what's going on!

From what you've said you've pretty much covered all reasonable bases, if it is stolen I can't see how the original owner could prove it's actually theirs unless they've marked it with smart water or something.
As a side note, very decent of you to go to the lengths you have in case it might be stolen. Plenty of people wouldn't give it a second thought.

I was thinking the very same thing. You have done very much more than is reasonable to check its history.
Sold an Aerodyne Precision to Douglas. Good comms and instant payment and he arranged for the courier to collect the bass from my home.
Good guy to deal with. Enjoy that instrument.
I should also add to mine - no guitarists wearing a hat. They are all invariably awful.
SRV is dead, get over it. He was better than you and played like that 30 years ago!

Same here with my 66P

Mine too. I have never played a better Precision than mine. Looks like 66 was the year!
I'm playing there tomorrow night!
They have a pa of sorts. It's rudimentary but adequate for the size of gig. Odd room in some ways but a good atmosphere - very little room to set up in though! Parking is a huge nightmare.
Time for a bit of a price adjustment and a further option.
The bass is now £500 in the SKB case but it can go for £450 in a well padded Warwick gig bag. P&P on top, of course.
Never do such a gig without an RCB plug. I did a soundcheck at such a gig once and all was well. Realised I hadn't plugged in my RCD plug and it tripped immediately it was plugged in. Turned out there was no earth.
