  1. I played one of these the other day and I came to three conclusions: 1. They’re great. 2. I like the feel of short scales. 3. It was a mistake and I shouldn’t have done it.* *(for my GAS you understand).
  2. Sweet!
  3. Phew! I thought it was just me. Guitarchat works ok, so it's just BC.

    Mustangs!

That is a super useful comparison. Well done, sir. 👏👏👏 Not helping my SS GAS in the slightest, however. 😂

    Mustangs!

Tried one of these on Thursday when I was really impressed. If the body had been a little larger, my credit card would’ve been sweating. Still not writing it off though, just want to try some other SS basses.
  6. I always think of scale length in inches, but nut width in mm. 🤪
  7. Are they sore? 😳😂 GLWTS
  8. I had the same issue. Go onto Facebook and search for Sean Hurley, where you’ll find it; seems to play OK there.
  9. Oh oh! Short scale GAS!

This is acceptable only if it's one of ours! 😂

Tried the Gibson DC, s'alright, not the best set up or hardware; Gretsch budget version, awesome for the money; Fender Mustangs, really liked the JMJ signature, others OK but the body feels a bit small for my frame. The one I really want to try is the SWB-1 (@Chownybass rubs hand with glee 😁) but Anderton's won't have stock until the 20th according to their site :( . I've tried de-tuning one of mine 2 steps and putting a capo at the 2nd fret (pretty much 30" scale) and I am liking it. Now if I could just get a Mustang neck to fit my P type and get it intonate...

A shameless plug to a cracking short scale and a wonderful seller

  10. Whereas I like the charcoal and tort.
  11. I realise that I am massively late to the party, but how good is Steve Rodby? A keyboard playing friend of mine posted a Pat Metheny video on FB (as a guitar player for many a year, I’m aware of PT mainly through his work with Joni Mitchell) what I wasn’t ready for was Mr Rodby. His intonation on DB is exceptional, way better than many/most of the more established names IMO. To say I’m now a fan would be an understatement.
  12. Space Captain by Joe Cocker/Herbie Hancock/Tedeshi-Trucks. Not taxing, but a nice groove.
  13. Built like a tank, good EQ. I found the distortion a bit too aggressive for my tastes and struggled to get a good tone with the effect switched on. But for clean, worked a treat. I only changed it out for a Tech21 VTDI because I preferred the mid voicing, but it also turns out that the distortion/overdrive is more to my taste (although not separately switchable ).
  14. Dammit! I feel a GAS build up.
  15. I’ve just watched this performance by David Byrne on SNL, I’m pretty sure that’s a Serek, sounds great. Why can’t the BBC mix sound like this on ‘Later’?
  16. Quality build coupled with quality build posts.
  17. I feel your pain, literally. That and the weight on my left shoulder (despite large padded strap) is why my 4003s had to move on ☹️.
  18. Great basses but, as you say, optimistic price tag.
  19. That is my actual rig, including the Rob Allen just out of shot. Quality gear, GLWTS
  20. 😳😬
  21. Literally just down the road from Ez Towers. However, I’m going on holiday. Thanks for the tag.
  22. The artist doesn't see the knock on financial benefits of them touring, but has to pick up the additional costs. Hopefully, and I'm not holding my breath here, those in control of these things, will see this and come up with an easy and inexpensive way to overcome this potential hurdle. Again, not holding my breath.
  23. Isn’t it just. I love playing it, much more than Peg. Haitian Divorce is another favourite bass line to play (when I’ve not forgotten it that is 😂).
