  1. Mooer? http://www.mooeraudio.co.uk/p/mooer-micro-di
  2. When I refinished a couple of necks some years ago, I used Danish Oil in this way. IIRC, I put on three coats in total, using super fine, wire wool after each coat. Both necks turned out really nicely.
  3. It’s such a great learning experience from that perspective, when mastering, cutting the 200k range just cleaning the track up (something I saw on a YT tutorial that I must find again) was an eye opener. A friend of mine runs a FOH company, does his own home recordings and is a pretty awesome songwriter and guitarist, and I sent my track to him to critique. It was he who suggested some particular compression settings for the bass (I’d already added some to all the tracks anyway) and it just popped. We discussed the result and the way he explained it all suddenly made sense, ergo GAS! 😂
  4. Totally understandable and not unreasonable IMO. During lockdown, I’ve been doing some home recording, which in itself meant I had to buy some new kit (a Focusrite Solo). As part of the mixing and mastering process, I have a whole new appreciation for compression, which means that, some time next week, I’ll be ordering a compressor for my pedalboard.
  5. Or this... Looks a bit green here though.
  6. Not at the moment, but as soon as I get my MXR M87, I'm gonna (assuming I ever gig again that is).
  7. Yep, WoT hits the nail on the head. At Maruszczyk, you want it, you got it.
  8. I think it's hard to really judge accurately with YouTube due to the compression they use, but if you prefer the Barts in that side by side comparison, then perhaps leave those in. However, I thought you wanted something that has the ability to "get nasty".
  9. That looks way better than the Fender IMO.
  10. I miss gigging. However, I don't miss the sitting around waiting to go to the gig that I seem to do. It often seems I waste the whole day looking at my watch for a gig that kicks off at 9. Long live the midday gig: get up; get clean; eat; do gig; come home; rest of the day is yours.
  11. I used to go and see Be Sharp when the late Andy Brown played bass for them. Initially, I was blown away by Jerry Stevenson’s guitar playing (quite rightly too, he’s very, very good and I was a guitar player at the time), but eventually, it was Andy’s playing that became my focus (probably adding to the desire to move over to bass myself), he was great and had a great voice too. Be Sharp’s version of Green Manalishi remains my favourite by anyone.
  12. Mine was still expensive second hand. However, because of that, I didn't lose much when I moved it on.
  13. @HazBeen is spot on with Aria. SB is playing his signature Aria (he later moved to Warwick IIRC).
  14. I had an early run McCarty once. Without doubt, the best sounding humbucker equipped guitar I’d ever heard (even with me playing it). However, I ultimately didn’t get on with the ergonomics and it went in part-ex for my first quality bass.
  15. Enjoyed that. I do like the way that Guy acknowledges his influences.
  16. Well that’s poor. ☹️
  17. @5:05 Oof! It's getting a bit dusty in here.
  18. Quality. I’ve always liked this tune since I first heard Larry Coryell play it on the Guitar Player album. This version does not disappoint at all. 👏👏👏
  19. We’re going to try one of those live stream thingamabobs in July. Set up in the drummer’s garden (suitably spaced from a social distancing perspective) and knock out an ‘unplugged’ set. It’ll be nice to see the band again and just play.
  20. The weather here is so variable and my stuff is just in an ordinary room with no climate control (never had such a luxury) that some movement seems inevitable. It’s never more that 1/8th - 1/4 turn at most for me. Anymore than that and I’d have concerns.
  21. That is a heartwarming end to a long journey; glad to hear it.
  22. Mark Feltham’s solo @3:16 always raises the hairs on the back of my neck. The drumming by Jeremy Stacey is pretty epic too.
  23. Ooh, that’s lurvley, what is that fretless beauty? EDIT, oh, hang on, I see the logo on the pickups now.
  24. I did not see that coming, at all.
  25. Ah, my save it from a burning house would be my Rob Allen MB2 (it was a tough choice picking my Elwood over the MB2).
