  1. I always used to buy in person but, now I’ve moved out to the boondocks, it’s an upwards of three hours journey to the nearest outlet. On top of the time, there’s fuel and parking to be considered. When these items are free delivery, those of us without a retailer/seller ‘down the road’ would be daft not to order right off the website, especially when distance selling rules apply. Good to hear that PMT have sent out the cover, leaving that off was shoddy, as was neglecting to give an accurate description of the bass. However, some of the rougher finished areas, particularly around the controls, looks very much down to Ibanez and their distributor. I had an SR1605 that had some awful finishing and they were (allegedly) horrified that the bass has been released into general circulation and replaced it with no fuss. The bumps and dings on the OPs bass do potentially look like previous owner/shop damage though.
  2. More money for less bass? Harrumph!
  3. I like Yes, a lot, but some of it really leaves me cold and or irritated (shades of, “Shut up! We know you can play,”). Take any bits you like and stick with them. I really like the pre Steve Howe era Yes, Banks & Kaye definitely had something going on that I found and still find pleasing. Yesterdays is a intro to that era, with only 1 Howe, Wakeman era track, a cover of America, which is sublime. YMMV.
  4. Funnily enough, I’ve tried playing my Rob Allen in the upright position and I find it very comfortable. Sadly, this does nothing but increase my GAS for a double bass (along with a ‘Ray).
  5. Having now had the 'Ray SS for a good while, I'm really starting to get the 'Ray bug again. It doesn't help when this appears on the GG website as incoming 😍... Fortunately, I've seen the weight for these published and they're way too heavy for my ailing shoulders. But just look at it!
  6. Perfect Day - Lou Reed
  7. Saturday Night Special - Skynyrd
  8. The Clapping Song - The Belle Stars
  9. One of these Dace - Floyd
  10. Fish puns? Well it’s been a while. Man with a Crabstick - Fish (double whammy!)
  11. Basschat definition of might not = definitely happening.
  12. Eye Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
  13. Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
  14. Go really old school, get a Fuzz Face, that’d be different.
  15. I've had another listen and 1- 4 certainly have a pickup in the P(ish) position, but I think 5 is more toward the 'Ray position. 1 might be a Mustang as it has so much low end and 3 might be a neck position J bass, 5 a 'Ray type and 2 & 4 being Ps. I'm quite happy to be miles out and for them all to be P basses with different pickups.
  16. I shall be keeping out a sharp eye in case you decide to move that one along, you're just down the road from me . In the meantime, enjoy.
  17. Mistra Know It All - Stevie Wonder
  18. Or Leith, where it’s sunny.
  19. I feel that there a Proclaimers comment to be made here, but I’ll resist
  20. Rubber Ball - Bobby Vee
  21. If you like the bass as a design, leave it as is and acquire a new one as an addition, to counter the need to potentially wipe many £s off of the value.
  22. You're Moving Out Today - Carol Bayer Sager
  23. Why would a non bass player buy a bass at all? Oh, hang on, I think I see what you mean, someone new to bass? The Roscoe Beck sig was a fab instrument in its own right, if the neck hadn’t been so narrow on the 4 string, I’d probably still have mine. Strange really, as the 5 string was particularly wide, compared to something like a ‘Ray5. Still probably the best bass Fender no longer make (although there is a strong case for the Stu Hamm too).
  24. Ghost Town - The Specials
  25. Be A Dentist - Steve Martin
